of delays and cancellations today, passengers really feeling the pain of the i just looked up the numbers, 270-plus flights that are cancelled or delayed here at sfo. more delays and cancellations are expected this coming weekend. there are better things to do with your life on a monday morning than be at the airport at 5:00 a.m. >> sleep in. >> reporter: heading to pm springs for vacation, the fligh was to leave at midday, but she wasrebooked on a super early flight. >> we never really got a clear picture of why the flight was cancelled other than air traffic control problem. >> reporter: linda was not the only one with the bad news. >> got a message on the cell phone that the flight was cancelled due to air control issues, which is pretty vague. >> reporter: yep. not clear at all. although technically

according to officials. a major runway closed friday through today due to ongoing construction projects. crews are installing new led lights and repaving. airlines knew about this closure and when it happened, it rebacrd a travel nightmare for passengers. on flight aware saturday, 416 flights delayed or can semied, and sunday, 651. >> we're prohibited by federal law to dictate how airlines schedule flights. our goal is to provide information to airlines and let them decide whether or not they want to reduce their flight schedule in advance. >> reporter: now you know why today and the past weekend were rough, and guess what, be ready for more delays and kansas ligslations and weekends until mid june. the hope is to complete the projects before the busy summer fly season begins. until then, prepare for anything. >> this stress is not fun trying to get home is not fun, to work is not fun. >> reporter: all right, the best

advi advice, stay in contact with the airline, and if you are traveling on the weekends, all the way through mid-june, consider heading to san jose or oakland. abc 7 news. >> a lot of people tracking that, thank you so much. breaking news, we are following a terrible big rig crash north of the antioch bridge. >> reporter: serious injuries with this one. we are live here to sky 7. they are over the scene right now. we have a ton of damage. this happened a little bit after 10:00 this morning. you can see the cab of this truck is charred, and this happened when two semis tangled up. really tough in this area. this is state route 160 around state route 12, two miles north of bridge as mentioned. there's the other semi. look at the debris out here. i mean, this is going to take a long time to clean up. definitely do not plan on traveling through the area any time soon. i quickly want to show you the detours set up here on the traffic maps. this is where the crash is,

delay in either direction. if you travel from the north from rio vista, detour in either direction there, state route 12, traveling north from the bridge, that's where they are cutting off all traffic on the northbound side. give it at least two, three hours before it's cleaned up. back to you. >> all right. thank you. now let's check the weather. >> seeing sprinkles this morning. hw is it looking now? >> it's in the north bay, gray out there, but sunshine in the south bay. this is a a weak system. live doppler system picking up returns over out towards the hills of livermore, drizzle and santa rosa, but it's a one on the storm impact scale. less than a tenth inch of rain, and in is what you can expect, isolated showers in the east bay, and even down further south. we he changeable weather, of course, we do, that's weather. we have sun and warmer temps coming up in a few minutes. >> looking forward to that. thank you, lisa.

check out this video, a scary wakeup call in walnut creek overnight. you see the car? drove through a house, and a homeowner tells us if he or his wife and two kids had just been in the front room, they would not have survived. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson is live in walnut creek where what the homeowner told you. >> the homeowner was watching and episode of "doctor who" when the power went out. he thought there was an earthquake, and then he found a car in his front room. fortunately, no one was injured. a mercedes tore two holes in peter's home. he says the worst part is losing his sense of security. >> it's scary. i'm not safe in my house. >> reporter: he doesn't want his children near the garage turned play room. >> no, clear answer is no. >> reporter: 13:30, a young driver took the curve too fast, lost control, hit a tree, flew through the brush, smashed into one side of the house and landed

out the other. >> he was very scared about the fact it was not his car. i don't give a rat's [ bleep ]. driving 40, 50, 60 with a recommended speed of 20 minute. >> it's not the first time a car left the road. a drunk driver once land in his front yard. >> that time we thought, we should be happy it did not land in my house. and we thought this was just a one-off thing, but it seems like it's not. >> reporter: neighbors say speeding on the blind curves is a common occurrence. >> i see this every day. i see it multiple times a day. this family is staying with friends. >> reporter: he's not sure when they can move back home or what he can do to protect them from another acdent. are you going to build a wall? >> maybe i should tweet the president? i don't know. >> reporter: peter says he's going to take the cleanup priority was coffee and

remarkably, he even brought back donuts for the news crews here covering the crash. i have never seen that done before, and i covered a lot of accidents. live in walnut creek, abc 7 news. >> tiffany, i don't think i saw a car into a house that bad. thank you so much. >> we are learning more now about the tennessee teacher accuse of the of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and how he planned to leave the country with her. federal charges will be read when he makes a court appearance in a few hours in sacramento. we do not believe he's entering a plea. the prosecutors say he planned to cross the u.s.-mexico border and seek refuge with a former student, elizabeth thomas, in central america. the teacher bought a small boat to sail from san diego. thomas has been reunited with her family. >> she's going to actually need trauma therapy. >> to see her struggle with all this now, as a dad -- >> it's hurtful. i'm sure as it goes along, we'll find out more and more things that have been done to her.

it's very heart breaking. >> he and his former student were found in a cabin after sixx weeks on the run. new details involving the ghost ship fire. new documents obtained by the bay area news group show building manager planned illegal use of the warehouse have the very start back in 2013. it was not allowed under zoning laws, but he made no moves to stop him. two months after the lease was signed, the landlord was said he was secretly aering the building beyond the terms of the lease. still, no action was taken. three years later, the warehouse burned down killing 36 people in the december fire. president trump is dismissing a new poll that shows he has the lowest approval rating at this point of any president since 1945, and as the

hundred day mark looms, there could be a showdown in congress to avoid a government shutdown. here's more from washington. >> reporter: five days out from the 100th day in office, president trump fell short of most of the standards he set for himself during the campaign. >> what follows is my 100-day action plan to make america great again. >> reporter: in october, the president offered a contract to the american voter. he promised legislation on ten major campaign promises in the first 100 days. so far, he's only moved forward with one of those bills. the plan to repeal and replace obamacare that's not passed. the administration is touting less important bills and executive orders as other mor pressures of trump's success. >> signed more legislation in hundred days than anybody in the last 50 years, more executive orders than any previous administration in 50 years. >> no administration has accomplished more in the first 90 days -- >> reporter: the president has been busy on the rallying cry of

illegal immigration, signing two executive orders, stripping federal funding from sanctuary cities, calling forriple the number of i.c.e. officers, adding thousands of border patrol and ordering construction on the two mile long wall on the u.s.-mexico border. that border wall could create a costly hurdle in the coming days. house and senate have until mid night friday to cut a trillion dollar spending deal to create a partial government shutdown on trump's 100 day. they want a bill that includes money for the wall, but so far democrats are refusing. >> i will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and i will have mexico pay for that wall. mark my words. >> reporter: abc news washington post poll found 56% of americans say president trump has accomplished much so far, and 96% of americans who voted for trump in november have no

interesting stories today, but the money report is the most stunning, bay area is so exceptive now even some six-figure sal raaries are low income. hud just released the 2017 income limits summary. this is the baseline used to determine who qualifies for affordable and subsidized housing programs. here is that stunning number. 105,000 a year is now considered low income for a family of four

living in san francisco and san mateo counties. 84,000 in santa clara and in alameda, 80,000 is the low income threshold for a family of four. if you have been dying to check out the iphone8, there's a glimlook of what it mike look like. they posted the photos after being leaked on twitter. shows the device of all angles, there's edge to edge glass screen, but no obviously identifiable home button, and it's hard to tell if there's a curved screen, which is what the rumors were, and the iphone celebrates 10th anniversary this year. we'll see if they are picturings of the real device because there's no real way to know if the leaked photos are legit. >> interesting. all right. early this morning, workers in new orleans began removing a confederate monument. security measures like bullet proof vests were taken to protect the workers who received death threats.

well this video of a 4-year-old girl only suffering a broken jaw after falling out of a moving bus in front of a busy street. look at the white bus ahead. the back door swings open, do you see the girl holding on for dear life. seconds later, she falls to the ground. now, thank goodness the person

right behind that bus was an emt. he rushed to the girl as she was laying on the ground. >> once the adrenaline and shock kicked in, and her little body, she kicked and screamed, and, you know, where's my mommy, and things like that, so stuff like that's is heart breaking. >> police have not said if the girl opened the door or if it was not locked. a woman arrested after she tried to get high in front of a a police officer. police responded to the parking lot memorial hospital saturday more a report of a woman in a car with a gun. when they found the woman, she started doing whip-its, inhaling nitrous oxide from a canister. she's been arrested, 36-year-old vanessa harlan and had a gun and loaded magazine in the car. bart calls the largest electric charging station in the area, and as many as 42 electric vehicles are charged there. the only charges stations in the entire bart system now available

degrees cooler. looking at some sun in emeryville, a mixed bag. clouds, peeks of sun, scattered showers, clearing tomorrow, but it's going to take a couple days to warm up, to get more seasonal weather. below average the next few days. low to mid-60s, scattered showers, you can see them about anywhere flout the day today, and overnight lows with breaks in the overcast bodes well for the giants' game, and temperatures will still be mild because of all the cloud cover, so dew points are running pretty close to the air temperature. that means it's muggy out there. let's give you an idea what it's like the rest of the week in san jo, 64 today, rain. warming up due to the sunshine at the end of the week with when we see seasonal weather, 80s by the weekend. the time line, check it out, noon, 1:00, san mateo, oakland with a shower. down through redwood city by the

pg&e learned a tragic lesson we can never forget. this gas pipeline ruptured in san bruno. the explosion and fire killed eight people. pg&e was convicted of six felony charges including five violations of the u.s. pipeline safety act and obstructing an ntsb investigation. pg&e was fined, placed under an outside monitor, given five years of probation, and required to perform 10,000 hours of community service. we are deeply sorry. we failed our customers in san bruno. while an apology alone will never be enough, actions can make pg&e safer. and that's why we've replaced hundreds of miles of gas pipeline, adopted new leak detection technology that is one-thousand times more sensitive, and built a state-of-the-art gas operations center. we can never forget what happened in san bruno. that's why we're working every day to make pg&e
