dozens of teens robbed passengers. up to 60 teens jumped the fare gates around 9:30 saturday night. they swarmed a car robbing and attacking passengers. two people were hurt. at first bart officials said none of its officers were at the station but now admits two officers were patrolling the parking lot when the gang hit. >> we did have increased police presence saturday night at oakland stations. we've been authorizing overtime for key stations, specifically oakland. >> the suspects grabbed five cell phones, a purse and duffel bag before running off. investigators are combing through surveillance video but are not releasing it because the attackers appear to be minors. i'm tracking this story. there is an amber alert issued in southern california for a one-year-old girl. this is alexis

she was taken from her rancho cucamonga home. her father is considered arm. i'm keeping a close eye on this story in case the amber alert expands. san francisco police trying to figure out how two explosive devices ended up in a neghborhood. someone found a pipe bomb and hand grenade near 22nd and wisconsin streets around 5:00 yesterday. police closed off streets for almost two hours while the bomb squad checked them out. they determined the devices were safe and then gave the all clear a short time later. happening today, fireworks in florida. wells fargo executives and board of directors will face what's expected to be angry investors at a shareholder meeting in jacksonville. this is the first meeting since the scandal surrounding the bank's sales practices.

it cost hundreds of millions in fines, forced an apology to two million customers who had accounts opened to them without their permission. >> ann coulter says she will be at uc berkeley on thursday. school leaders say there is no safe place for her to speak on campus this week. the two groups sponsoring her appearance filed a federal lawsuit yesterday accusing the university of trying to restrict conservative speech on campus. their attorney claims the school has a secret policy that limits conditions for certain speakers. >> it's not in writing. it's not been publicized but it has been used to shut down two speakers that the berkeley college republicans have brought to cal. >> the university says it's trying to avoid the same kind of violence that erupted before a speech by milo yiannopoulos in february. coulter retweeted a weather

forecast on thursday with the words "nice day for an outdoor speech in berkeley." plans to create a temporary homeless shelter in the mission district drew a raucous crowd to a town meeting. ka even though people recognize the need for a shelter, they're saying not here, not now. >> in four months i've been abl to negotiate a deal. >> reporter: hillary ronin tried to calm fears about a navigation center at 26th street ativan ness avenue. she's made a deal to create a temporary homeless shelter. >> they're not able to get their building permits for six to nine months so during that time they're donating the space to the city. >> reporter: the center could house more than 100 people living on the streets in the mission. >> i know we need to get these people in homes, i know we need to do this but adding 120 people to the area is not the right solution and they're going to end it with no exit plan. that's another big issue. >> reporter: others want the

shelter to open sooner. >> every single day we delay folks living on the streets are still on the streets and aren't getting the services they need and neighbors still continue to have to deal with these tent encampments. >> reporter: ronin says the city has 1500 temporary shelter beds and some 7,000 people living on the streets. >> they want a place to live but they make it so difficult in the city here now for us to find affordable housing. >> reporter: ronin will hold a second community meeting in san francisco. katie utehs, abc 7 news. developing news over the north korea crisis. president trump will hold a rare briefing with the full senate tomorrow at the white house. congressional aides have suggested the briefing will underscore the message to north korea that washington is serious about wanting a shift in policy. yesterday, president trump said the united nations security council must come up with new and stronger sanctions against pyongyang adding it's time to solve the problem. happening today, president trump is expected to name a retired two-star general as the new secret service director.

randolph tex ellis served 35 years in the military before joining the u.s. customs and border patrol. the head of the secret service is appointed by the president and doesn't need senate confirmation. arkansas just had the nation's first double execution in more than 16 years. it was marked by controversy and accusations that one of the prisoners suffered in his death. jack jones and marcel williams both died of lethal injection. the state executed jones for the rape and murder of a book keeper in 1995. three hours later, williams was put to death for the murder of a young mother in 1994. a judge temporarily blocked williams' lethal injection because his attorneys argued the first execution was inhumane. they say officials spent 45 minutes trying to place an iv in jones' neck before putting it elsewhere and that he gulped for air as he died. the judge ultimately allowed both executions to go forward. happening today, advocates for immigrants and victims of hate crimes will rally in san

jose before the santa clara county board of supervisors meeting. organizers say the rally is expected to be similar to this one in san francisco, to show the board how critical certain items up for discussion are. one is the need for safe shelter beds for transgender people. another is to help families with an emergency plan in case a parent is picked up for abortion. also happening today, the albany school board will discuss a racially fuelled instagram page that targeted minority students at albany high school. one picture showed a student with a noose around her neck. the page was up for two months before school administrators became aware of it. the students responsible got suspended. some parents say they should have been expelled. there's going to be a chance for public comment at tonight's meeting. warren county is expected to be swimming in money at the end of the fiscal year. county officials told supervisors marin should see a $5.5 million surplus by the end of june. they suggested the money could be spent on improving roads damaged during the storms and

you're taking a ferry ride. mass transit no worries. the pollen is going to be out of control again today. high amounts of cedar, oak and pine. uv index is going to be high and check out tonight's temperatures, low to mid-50s. we have a chance of some stray showers tomorrow, that's next in the accuweather seven-day forecast. i want to take you back to san francisco where we have a crash on westbound 80 right around the connector to southbound 101. so we are seeing some red on our traffic flows. we only have one lane down right now, the far left lane. we have a tow truck dispatched to the scene. sounds like one of those vehicles ended up sideways blocking the left lane. an ambulance was called as well so we don't have word on extent of those injuries. i'm hoping this one will clear fairly soon. it's not a terrible backup but something to keep an eye on. a quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza. if you look at our spider web over the lens you can see that's blowing around quite a bit in the wind and it was breezy when i drove across before 3:00 this morning. one of those days the wind could be an issue on those east/west

. it's 4:41. a state senate committee is holding a hearing about what went wrong at the oroville dam. the department of water resources released two redacted reports after public outcry over their secrecy. officials estimate permanent repairs will take two years and cost $275 million. many people questioning who should pay for that. congressional democrats are also calling for federal oversight from the government accountability office. l 200,000 people had to be evacuated after the dam's two spillways began to fail in february. i want to show you this new video coming into our live desk. france holding a ceremony this morning to remember the officer killed in the terror attack at the champs-elysees. it is an honor of 37-year-old xavier ugel. the french president,

hollande was there. and the two candidates facing the runoff put aside their differences. two other officers were hurt in the attack. the terrorist was shot and killed by police and isis has claimed responsibility for the claimed responsibility for the attack. james long claims dr. david dao was verbally and physically combative at o'hare airport. long says when he pulled dao from his seat, the 69-year-old knocked his arms away, fell and then hit his mouth on an arm wrest. dao suffered a broken nose and teeth and that incident went viral. united says it had to bump dao and three other passengers from the overbooked flight to make room for four airline employees. i should add dao's attorney says this new report from a security officer is ridiculous. switching gears.

a south bay company is revealing a prototype for a flying car and it says this is not something far off. the company appropriately named kitty hawk says it will be available by the end of the year. here's abc news reporter katie mar suh low. >> reporter: this is the kitty hawk flyer. the company says it's safe, tested and legal to operate. you don't need a pilot's license. >> it's an exciting area to be involved in from autonomous vehicles. >> reporter: fred berez is the head of the aviation and technology department at san jose state university. he says eventually people will be able to fly themselves to and from work in something like this. the personal flight delay will come from the state and federal government. >> we're going to be dealing with dmv and faa working together so that's the issue we'll be dealing with. regulation is the issue by the technology. >> reporter: kitty hawk says this flyer is for recreation. it can be flown only in

this is out of south florida, this gator was badly injured by a car and needed treatment and the person who was there to treat it? a professionally trained gator wrangler. it took him nine minutes to trap this animal. but once he did, as you can see, he sealed it with a kiss. >> wow, all right. police in the bay area are encouraging you to sign up for a new tool to fight mail theft. a free service from the u.s. postal service called informed delivery. when you sign up, the postal service starts sending you photos of the mail that you are getting that day. images are taken as your mail goes through sorting equipment. police say the tool can help you alert police if something is missing. right now the service is limited to letter-sized mail. if you're interested in informed delivery, we have a link on our web site, abc7news.com. happening today, the oakland city council will hear about proposed legislation to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products. that includes vape juice for electronic cigarettes and

will be breezy and partly cloudy this evening. let's see if we can make it two in a row over the dodgers. alexis? and looking at traffic here this morning, things are improving in san francisco so westbound 80 to southbound 101 on the merge, 10 minutes ago i showed you a hefty backup that is starting to form. we got the all clear a couple moments ago so that two-car crash is gone from the left lane. we can still see a little bit on the curve from westbound to southbound 101. alexis, thank you, we know getting kids to school is stressful for working parents trying to get to their jobs. soon there could be an app for that. a team of east bay college students who know the school is not an option for every family so they came up with a car pooling concept that they say will allow commuting parents to spend more time with their families. they're in the finals of the net impact mobility challenge.
