"but, we found a spot on your lung." that frankly scared the "hell" out of me. i hadn't smoked in 22 years. how could this happen to me? he said, "well, you know about radon gas?" we'll... you know, i heard about it. he said, "well, the second leading cause of cancer" "in america is radon, 22,000 people a year die from this." i literally left the doctor's office, got a test kit, put it in my house, and our result was 39.8. the upper limit is 4. we got to get this fixed. that was on a monday, and on wednesday, our mitigation system was up and running.

and likely broke the law. >> as a former military officer, you simply cannot take money from russia, turkey or anyone else. it appears he did take that money. it was inappropriate and there are repercussions for the violation of law. >> reporter: in 2015, flynn received $45,000 to appear at this moscow gala. that's flynn shaking hands with russian president vladimir putin. flynn also received $500,000 on behalf of the embattled turkish government. he was forced to register as a foreign agent. >> general flynn had an obligation to proactively seek and obtain permission. doesn't appear as if he did. >> do you think he broke the law? >> i don't see anything in those records that he actually complied with the law. >> reporter: flynn talked about breaking the law during the campaign when it came to hillary clinton. >> lock her up. that's right. yep. that's right.

tension with north korea. the u.s. aircraft carrier "carl vinson" closing in on the korean peninsula as the ship has been on the move, its aircraft have been in joint exercises with japan's air force. north korea has threatened to sink the "vinson" if provoked. this, by the way, the first look at the joint military drills that the u.s. and south korean forces held, but this is the first time we're seeing these images. they were conducted as north korea was preparing to mark the anniversary of its military. these drills have taken place since the late 1970s and overnight south korea announced that key parts of a u.s. military defense system are now in place. the full senate goes to the white house this afternoon to get a closed door briefing about the north korean situation. the president's crackdown on immigration has suffered another setback. a federal judge in california blocked the administration's attempt to withhold funding from sanctuary cities. calling an egregious overreach and vowing to win in the supreme

court. let's get more now from melanie woodrow. >> reporter: in san francisco approximately 1.2 to $2 billion of the city's $9 billion budget was at stake. the threat for that funding looming as the city worked to set its budget. city attorney dennis herrera said the court sided on every issue in the lawsuit the city filed over president trump's executive order on sanctuary cities and san francisco would not stand by and have the constitution turned on its head. >> this is why we have courts. to halt the overreach of a president and attorney general who either don't understand the constitution or choose to ignore it. this is why san francisco had to stand up on behalf of people everywhere. be they immigrants or native born. >> reporter: a sentiment echoed by mayor ed lee. >> not just a victory for the cities, but also, in my opinion, it gives a little more calm to the residents of san francisco, particularly immigrant

populations. they're living in shadows. some of them are not going to school or scene a doctor because they just don't know what's going to happen to them. >> reporter: the mayor said the city had promised all residents city officials would fight for their rights and they did. in san francisco, melanie woodrow, abc news. president trump is expected to return to his home town next week for the first time since the inauguration. that hometown, you might know it, white house says the president is visiting new york city to deliver a speech aboard "uss intrepid" and meet with the australian prime minister while there. it's raining in new york and along most of the east coast right now. you can see the system moving up the hudson valley and all of new england. another inch or two of rain is responsible but just showers for the rest of the northeast. the rain is fading away in north carolina, but still the threat of flooding.
