the 15-year-old was driving when he was shot on sunset boulevard. investigators marked each of the several bullet holes that hit the white pontiac. the 16-year-old passenger wasn't armed but the young man behind the wheel was pronounced dead at zuckerberg san francisco general hospital where family members gathered outside the emergency department. >> any time that a minor is killed or harmed from gun violence it's terrible. >> reporter: residents aren't used to seeing this level of gun violence in their neighborhood. saint ignatius college prep is four blocks away and the administrators put the school on lockout during the shooting, parents were alerted by e-mail. >> what was your reaction to that? >> concerned because i know what things can happen, it doesn't matter what neighborhood, it can happen anywhere. the motive is unclear. investigators hope witness account and possible security video in the area can help bring in leads. >> there was talk of a mention

yesterday. uber says the city would post driver's home on the city's public web site. uber says they want the drivers to know they are required to guess business licenses. deputies believe richard medina tied bed sheets and climbed over a fence yesterday. he was discovered missing from the north county detention facility in santa rosa. police tracked him to windsor, his hometown. he was scheduled to be released in september. investigators are trying to understand why a university of texas student stabbed four other students. you see here 21-year-old kend c kendrics white after he surrendered to police yesterday. police say white walked up to four students and attacked them with pa hunting knife about a block from school. a 19-year-old freshman died. three other victims are expected to recover. this morning, the white house is down playing a comment by president trump that he's open to meeting with north korea's kim jong-un.

the president says he would be honored to do it under the right circumstances. the comment marks the departure from the hard-line stance the president has had against north korea in recent weeks. the administration has raised the possibility of a preemptive strike if the north conduct another nuclear test. >> the president says he is open to raising the federal gasoline tax to help fix america's crumbling roads. right now, the tax is 18.4 cents a gallon for regular, 24.4 cents for diesel. it hasn't changed since 1993. no word how much of a hike the president might consider. transportation officials say one-third of all urban roads are in poor condition. happening today, and this is quite interesting -- benicia will vote on whether residents can keep mini pigs as pets. if the ordnance passes the, rules for owning mini pigs would be similar to owning a dog. they have to be leashed in public, if you have to pick up their waste, the pigs must be licensed and wear a dog tag and be neutered or spayed. >> when is a mini pig not a mini

independent a stabbing that happened near john hinkel park on saturday. the suspect is described as an adult white male in his 30s with sandy colored air and several days of facial hair growth wearing light-colored clothing and a black backpack. the victim is recovering. the raiders are taking another step in their move to las vegas. the team closed escrow on 62 acres of land for a new stadium and it's next to the mandalay bay resort and reportedly costs $77.5 million. the stadium will cost another $1.7 billion. the raiders are expected to open the new stadium in time for the 2020 nfl season but the team may make the move to nevada by 2019 if a lease extension falls through. nfl owners approved the raiders' moved to las vegas in march. the trump administration is rolling back nutritional standards for federally subsidized school meals. under the new rules, schools won't have to cut the salt in kids' meals, they can bring back

it was tough with the marches and demonstrations. today not seeing those issues but we're looking ahead to this weekend. remember that track work with bart that we were supposed to have this past weekend? it got moved to this coming weekend so may 6 and 7 no train service between fruitvale and lake merritt station. they will have a from abuse bridge provided but that could add 20 to 40 minutes to your trip. keep that in mind. >> thanks, alexis. for the first time, the government is saying a hoverboard sparked a fire that dead to deaths. >> the consumer product safety commission has evidence a lazy board was involved in the fire in pennsylvania in march. that fire killed two young girls. the commission is urging everyone to immediately stop riding or charging the hoverboards. more than 3,000 of the layz boards were imported into the u.s. the agency is investigating more than 100 fires related to hoverboards manufactured by a variety of other companies. explosions from a transformer fire rocked toronto's financial district. look at this.

police were forced to shut down a section of the downtown area during yesterday's afternoon commute. you can see smoke billowing up from the subway grates. firefighters say a fire in an underground electrical vault caused the explosions. no one got hurt. crews say water, deteriorating connections or aging transformers have caused similar fires in the past. happening today, a familiar face outside san francisco's sir francis drake hotel will celebrate 40 years on the job. >> taxi, taxi. this is tom sweeney and he has been a doorman at that hotel since 1987. it started as a summer job but he was having so much fun he decided to turn it into a career. even now he still finds joy and even perhaps the more tedious parts of his job. >> the most-asked question in 40 years is "where does the cable car stop?" like 25,000 times a year that happens. the second-most asked question is "where's fisherman's worth"
