horses and you lose to that guy. what happened? >> oh, come on. >> yes, so good friday morning, everybody. the long bitter battle over health care now goes to the senate. this, of course, after republicans narrowly pushed a bill through the house. >> president trump delayed his meeting with australia's prime minister in new york last night to celebrate his first legislative victory, what he calls the death of obamacare. abc's kenneth moton joins us now from washington with the details. kenneth, it still has a way to go in the senate now. >> reporter: it sure does, diane and kendis. good morning to you. president trump and house republicans at the white house relished the moment seven years in the making. back on capitol hill, the senate ready to get to work on health care. this morning president trump's fight over health care now in the hands of the senate. the president on a decommissioned battleship, the "uss intrepid" in new york with australia's prime minister. >> right now obamacare is failing. >> the president made this stunning statement. >> i shouldn't say this to our great gentleman and my friend from australia because you have

better health care than we do. >> trump praised australia's government funded universal health care hours after celebrating the razor thin passage of a bill in the house that would gut obamacare. >> we still have a lot of work to do to get this signed into law. >> reporter: senate republicans already preparing to write their own bill, a version that could scare off house gop moderates or hard-liners. [ chabtsing "shame, shame" ] report who could face even more protests back home. the affordable care act requires all americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty. the gop plan does not. obamacare expanded medicaid. the republican bill would roll back the expansion. estimates show millions at risk of not having insurance under the republican bill, coverage of pre-existing conditions weakened. by one estimate, 27% of americans have one, even higher in these southern states, all voted for president trump. defeated democrats in the house promised to fight on. >> they put their name next to

your paying more for less, and we'll make sure that the public is aware of that. >> reporter: senate republicans already sounding off on the house health care bill saying the country should buckle up for an even longer process on their side, diane and kendis. >> yeah, republican senator lindsey graham among those who are saying they should look at this bill with caution. kenneth. >> a lot of changes expected. thanks, kenneth. and after the vote passed house democrats seemed to taunt republicans by actually singing on the floor and then waving good-bye. ♪ hey, hey, hey, good-bye >> do you hear it there, chants of, hey, hey, good-bye. the democrats' song was a warning to the republicans implying their reform vote could actually cost conservatives their house seats in 2018 midterm elections. abc's jon karl explains. >> reporter: this was a big legislative victory for the president but democrats hoping they can turn this into a big political liability in the elections next year.

their top targets will be 23 house republicans who are in districts that hillary clinton won. more than half of them voted for this bill. that will be something that they will have to answer for. overall, obamacare is more popular than it's been. in fact, in our poll a couple of weeks, 37% said they wanted it repealed and replaced, just 37%. more than 60% wanted it kept and fixed. >> our thanks to jonathan karl there at the white house. you see the house minority leader nancy pelosi who said the song was a spontaneous moment. republicans had their own soundtrack blasting "eye of the tiger" and "taking care of business" before casting their votes. president trump leaves for his first official overseas trip later this month starting with a visit to saudi arabia. white house aides say the president chose saudi arabia as his first stop to show that he's committed to improving u.s. relations with the muslim world. the president's itinerary also includes visits to israel

and the vatican where he plans to meet with pope francis. >> it'll be a busy end of the month for the president. now for a look at the weather. well, this morning the national weather service will be in savannah, georgia, to look into whether it was a tornado that damaged more than a dozen buildings. at least five people there suffered minor injuries and this scene also in georgia at the world's busiest airport, atlanta hartsfield jackson. in the distance you can see look there. look in the middle, a funnel cloud. minor damages reported. the radar, plenty of rain making its way from the mid-atlantic states up to new england, thunderstorms across the region are possible as well. the tsa is warning trucking and rental companies to be on alert for possible ramming attacks. the agency asks company to look out for indicators like vehicle modifications or customers acting nervous. the tsa is encouraging safety

features like remote disabling of vehicles and barriers around large gatherings. it comes after a number of incidents involving vehicles used as weapons including a deadly attack in sweden just last month. former president obama meanwhile, is weighing in on the french presidential election. obama has endorsed emmanuel macron in sunday's runoff, praising macron for appealing to people's hopes instead of their fears. meanwhile, macron's opponent marine le pen had a tough time when eggs were thrown at her. you can see bodyguards rushing her away. polls show le pen trailing macron by more than 20 percentage points. >> you mentioned that obama endorsement. there was a different sort of endorsement from the canadian prime minister. take a look. here's justin trudeau and a closer look at his choice of socks. >> so he wore these socks to celebrate "star wars" day, may the 4th as in may the fourth be with you. one of the socks, of course, has c3po on it, the other r2-d2. by the way, that meeting was

some 19 riders stuck more than 80 feet in the air on the silver bullet roller coaster in oklahoma city. the car stalled right at the top of a major drop and crews used harnesses to bring everyone down safely. there were no injuries reported. the coaster was stuck in almost the same location just about a year ago. maintenance. michael oher, the nfl player whose story was chronicled in "the blind side" is facing assault charges. he is accused of getting into an altercation with an uber driver last month. we're just learning about it now and police in nashville, tennessee, say oher knocked the driver to the ground and kicked him. he's set to appear in court on monday. police say the investigation into aaron hernandez's prison suicide is now closed. investigators say hernandez made five telephone calls before he died. he also wanted his laundry done because he was expecting a visit from his fiancee and daughter. investigators say no drugs were found in his system. hernandez's attorney blasted the

investigation as unprofessional and is conducting an investigation of his own. and families of victims in the san bernardino terror attack are suing three tech giants. the lawsuit accuses facebook, google and twitter of allowing isis to spread propaganda. they say the terror group's use of social media influenced the two san bernardino shooters. the companies dispute the charges in the lawsuit. 14 people were killed and 22 injured in that 2015 attack. a bit of controversy at a colorado annual sanctuary after nearly a dozen lions and tigers as well as bears were euthanized. the owners of lionsgate sanctuary say they had to put down the animals. they wanted to remove them when it was flooded but it wasn't okayed. it was denied because the animals would have been in a densely populated area. and canadians who recently bought a bottle of bombay sapphire gin are told to return it or pour it out. the gin has been recalled

england. if you're flying expect some airport delays in detroit and from washington all the way to boston. at least four students from a high school in pittsburgh have come forward claiming they were physically abused by security officers. >> yeah, now surveillance video has emerged that appears to back up those claims. take a look. this recently released surveillance video from a pittsburgh high school last month shows 14-year-old keyshawn que'chawn wade being questioned in a school office about a missing cell phone. there is a verbal exchange in the hallway and then he's taken by officer steve shaulis into another room. officer shaulis alater emerges with an injury to his hand. wade and his attorney says the officer punched him in the face knocking out his front tooth. >> i feel like it shouldn't have happened. didn't have to happen. >> reporter: ahmad williams was in the same school office in 2015 after an alleged altercation with a teacher when he says the same school resource officer put the teen in a choke hold before slamming him to the ground. >> the student is being

disorderly. he is attempting to place him under arrest but the student is resisting. >> we'll dig into that a little bit later on "good morning america." lawyers from both sides will weigh in. diane. and delta is apologizing to a mother and father who were kicked off a flight along with their children. we showed you video of brian schear's family being removed from a plane due to overbooking. the flight was heading from maui to los angeles. now, the family flew home on another airline costing them $2,000. >> wow. >> delta issued a statement calling the situation an unfortunate experience. the schears will also receive a refund. and breaking overnight, firefighters rescued two hikers stranded on a steep hillside in los angeles. crews responded on the ground and in the air. rescuers used a two-line rope system to raise the men from the cliff. both men were examined and are expected to be okay. no word yet on how long they were stranded. and a hiker missing for most of the week in the snowy mountains of new hampshire has now been rescued. search teams had been looking

for randy willett since he made a 911 call tuesday. willett told the operator he was lost and had fallen in a brook. now, the call dropped before he was able to provide more details but a national guard helicopter spotted willett's tracks in the snow. willett also aided the pilot by flashing a red light. a horse named patch is among the sentimental favorites in tomorrow's kentucky derby. that's because he only has a right eye. doctors removed his left one nearly a year ago because of a swelling problem. patch will start on the far outside of the field. so that means he will break from the gate not seeing any of the other 19 horses in the race. >> i wonder if that could give him an advantage in any way. >> i imagine in some corners. >> we're rooting for you, patch. >> good luck. the rangers evened up their stanley cup playoff series against the senators last night. >> yep, and there was also some hard-hitting action like literally hard-hitting action in the nba. highlights from espn. >> good morning, america.
