was, indeed, a ups cargo plane that crashed in charleston, west virginia. we have been keeping an eye on the images all morning long. the plane went down on the hillside on the other side of all the fire trucks and emergency personnel you see. it went on the other side of the bushes and the crews are looking down into the hill. no word if anybody was injured or killed. right now yager airport where this happened is closed. this happened is closed. it's not a big airport it was the parents of a

gunman's ex-girlfriend shot and killed overnight. the father was the vice president of a silicon valley tech giant. police have not identified the shooter. they took the couple's 13-month-old as hostage before letting him go. the shooter was killed by police after he pointed the gun at them. >> he did not give my officers a choice and it's a tragic, tragic incident perpetrated by evil. >> police say the couple's daughter was not at the house at the time of the shootings and that she had a restraining order against her ex. he had a history of mental illness, domestic violence and drunk driving. at least ten people have been arrested from the riots that happened at berkeley, and these three were part of the

violent assaults. they are asking for anybody that has pictures or video of the violence to send it in. if these three look familiar call berkeley police. president trump expressing confidence after the house passed the measure for the health care yesterday. with only 52 republicans in the senate, they can afford very few defectors. several republican senators have voiced concerns already. some say they don't like the provisions to eliminate pre-existing conditions and the freezing of medicaid expansion. lawmakers on the other side say the bill will not clear the next legislative hurdle. >> mr. president, i am sorry to disappoint you. this bill in its current form is not getting through the senate. >> experts say any bill that comes to a vote would include changes to the house version which means the bill would go to the committee to work out differences and that would bring another vote in both chambers.

serve elementary schools. some parents have been camped out for days now and the wait is almost over for them with registration opening in less than an hour at 7:00 a.m. and then finally relief in the north bay for people that rely on a key section of highway 1. a portion of the road is set to open today after it was damaged by winter storms. our media partner reports cars will be able to use highway 1 between pan rammin highway and muir woods road. there will work still being done between slide ranch and steep ravine, and caltrans says that section will not open until early september. four bay area high school students are schooling their school after racist posts appeared on social media. why they say their punishment is too extreme. the businessman 2: we've gone over the numbers several times, and... businessman 1: yea, yea, yea...you know what i'm craving right now? businessman 1: (over speaker) --guacamole and bacon.

if you are on the bay today it's windy this evening, and if you are on the roads caution for the patchy drizzle. and low to mid-50s on the peninsula. pretty much low to mid-50s everywhere else. now here's what's going to happen today. look at the temperatures around the coast. 70s inland. 60s and barely 70s tomorrow. look at the big change on sunday as temperatures start to push 80 again inland. we have a slight chance of showers tomorrow and that hour by hour look is coming up next. we are looking friday light through the walnut creek area. 680 on the southbound side there, normally we would see a ton of brake lights at this hour but it's friday and we will enjoy it while it lasts. issues with ace this morning having signal problems on the altamont pass. ace 3 has a two-minute delay, and we can expect delays for the rest of the morning trips.

commented on racist posts on the social network. the post sparked large protest back in march. the students claim they were bough raided in a makeshift public square and wrong flee suspended. the student that posted it could be expelled. uc santa cruz will meet all of the demands of a student group after protests. they took over the administration building and we were live to see this. administrators agreed to guarantee the students can paint the dorm black, green and black and diversity training for all students. those changes will start in the fall. breaking news on the us economy. the jobs report was just released and our unemployment rate has fallen and it's the

lowest number in a decade. unemployment now at 4.4%. the u.s. added 211,000 jobs in april. a sign of the economy is sluggish, growth in the first quarter may have proven tempora temporary. if you are looking for a new place to live, there's a new report that shows the bay area rental market is softening. for example, the median cost of a two bedroom apartment in san francisco is down 2.5%, and you will stay pay $4,550 a month on average. and oakland is nearly up 1%, though, and the average two bedroom there goes for about $2,500. >> has your rent gone down? >> no. >> mine has not. the burners at symmetry

our coolest day and the day with the fastest breezes. 60s, 70s and 80s on monday tuesday and wednesday. good morning, finally good news in the south bay. we had the crash for most of the morning on southbound 101 before brokaw road. we got the all-clear a few moments ago, and that's the one that started off with a disabled vehicle and was hit by a couple more and major injuries were reported in that crash and they just got the scene cleared and everything should be wide open there. that was the lighter side of things so no residual delays. in san francisco we are getting reports of a large sinkhole or major pothole on 7th street. i am not seeing delays there on the surface street flows but you will want to avoid that if possible this morning. a quick check outside. the bay bridge camera looking good. we are just hearing about debris causing flat tires, and i will have an update coming up around 6:30. somebody hacked into school cameras in canada. the privacy commissioner launched an investigation into the use of webcam surveillance at a school in i owna. officials recently learned the video feed could be seen by anybody online, and that includes images gathered at the water fountain and near the boy's bathroom. the school checking all security cameras to make sure the settings won't allow this to happen again. new at 6:00 a.m., we know exercising is good for you, right? but what about swearing? a study shows uttering profanities while you workout apparently makes you stronger. the first study involved 29 people cycling on the bike and they asked them to repeat a curse word or neutral word and guess what they found out. >> tell me. >> participants are stronger if they use profanity.

so 51 to 55 this morning. look at that. we stay in the 50s at the coast, barely mid to upper 60s at the bay and inland, and when the breezes kick in this afternoon and evening, mid to upper 50s, grab a coat and know it's not going to be wet. overall we have been friday light, but we have a new issue on the lower deck of the bay bridge. east bay 80 before treasure island, there's metal debris a lot of vehicles hit and we have cars with flat tires and maybe one lane blocked but no significant backup and that's counter commute but we will keep an eye on that one. wide open at 880 and the crash north of here on the southbound side that was blocking for about two hours this morning and that has finally cleared. we have a trouble spot in san francisco and we will talk more about that coming up next. happening right now, dozens of parents camping out. they spent the night on the street in south san francisco. >> the dedication this takes is

stunning and it's all in the hopes of winning a spot for their child in the after school program. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. their wait is almost over. they packed up their tents. they are standing in line now instead of sleeping in tents. the staff got here early and is setting up so they can get the people's applications processed so they can get home. some got here yesterday morning and sat up their tent and held their place in line. they are doing this to get their kid a spot in the after school program. parents say it was a long night but they did their best to pass the time. >> me and the other guys, we kind of organized ourselves. we put our tents together and we -- i had a little speaker, and one of them had a computer and what we did is we actually logged into his hot spot and we kind of watched the game last

they were involved in an operation against the terror group, al shabaab. it's affiliated with al qaeda and u.s. forces have been in somalia trying to help that country's military to keep recruits away from al qaeda. back to you. >> thank you. new developments in shooting involving a san francisco police officer this week. it's not the first time this officer fired his weapon while on duty. the officer shot and wounded a man in the ocean view neighborhood in january. that photo right there is of cha the night of the shooting. he shot a man after moore punched and kicked two other officers and that's a look at the video that we have of it when that happened. now on wednesday officer cha killed a man stabbing an employee on market street. then he pointed a gun at officers and cha fired and both incidents remain under

investigation. the battle over health care moves to the senate today. president trump and republicans celebrated the narrow passage of the house gop plan to repeal and replace obamacare. there are still major roadblocks ahead in the senate where the bill is expected to undergo significant changes. moderate republicans are already saying they are not going to support it and are preparing to write their own bill instead. the gop holds a narrow advantage over the democrats in the senate leaving a narrow margin for leaving a narrow margin for error. we spoke with the kaiser foundation which is nonpartisan and non-profit and they crunched the numbers last night and this morning. two scenarios, first, let's talk about a 27-year-old male that lives in los angeles making about $75,000 a year, and he's an intrapreneur and pays for his insurance, and under obamacare

he was paying $250 a month, and with the new health care bill he will pay $767, and that's a savings of more than $2,000 a year. >> big savings. so what is the worst case scenario. >> this is the doomsday scenario, and we crunched this hard with kaiser to make sure it was legit and it was. this is a 60-year-old couple in nebraska, retired and living off $25,000 a year and so money is tight, and under obamacare they were spending about $1,050 a year, and under the new plan, again, this is all preliminary, they are going to pay year. >> you know people will say what? >> we went back to kaiser and they said there was a couple reason for this. older people are going to be charged more for insurance in some cases. the other reasons, this is

welcome back. i want to bring you an update on the cargo plane crash in west virginia. i have confirmed two people were killed in the crash. just got a statement from ups also, and it says the victims are not ups employees and the plane was contracted to carry packages for ups and took off from louisville, kentucky this morning. the entire area around yager airport in west virginia shut down because they are dealing with a huge fuel leak coming from the plane. reggie and natasha, back to you. >> thanks for the update. we are tracking developing news in the south bay where police are looking for vandals

that ransacked a school in san jose. >> matt is live at the mon monta sory school. >> reporter: i want to show you the sign for parents and students. it says sorry we are closed due to vandalism and apologize for the inconvenience. as we come in you can see some of the damage here. this is one of the windows that was broken and inside it was a mess. i just talked to somebody who was in charge of the janitorial services here and he said they had to keep the room like it is until the insurance company comes here and they can figure out how they are going to pay for it and then take three days to clean up so they won't be open until at least monday. we want to show you some of the video from inside, and diapers everywhere and toys and furniture damaged. it's a mess. parents say this happened overnight wednesday into supposed to have a big "star
