good morning. thanks so much for joining us. i'm chris nguyen in for carolyn i tyler. here's lisa argen tracking live doppler 7. >> hey, chris. good morning to you. we are looking at a sunnier start. still a few clouds around. live doppler 7 picking up on a little cloud cover existing the south bay. we'll look for temperatures this morning to be fairly uniform. here is mount tam. we've got not only some cloud cover but not as much wind. 51 in the city. 49 in gilroy. 52 in mountain view. from emeryville this morning, a little gray out there. 50 santa rowsa, napa and livermore with the warmer numbers out by the delta. the wind still up in novato. a westerly wind takes over today at the coast. and most definitely look at some dangerous coastal surf out there. so the golden gate bridge looks nice and clear. so low 50s for most of you. noontime mid and upper 60s bay and inland. at the coast, we'll stay in the 60s. by the afternoon, low to mid-70s

from the bay to our inland valleys. so get set for a warmer afternoon today. and even warmer as we start the workweek. i'll have the details coming up. thank you. now to developing news this morning. police looking for two suspects in an uber vehicle after the driver was abducted in san francisco. the driver tells abc7 news he was off duty in the city when a man and a woman jumped into his car and depended that he drive them around. he says the man had a gun and te woman had a knife. he drove to richmond and at some point was forced to stop at an atm to take money out. that's when he said he made his escape and went straight to richmond police. police are look forth suspects and the driver's car, a 2015 white toyota kamry with the license plate 7hqw692. 6:01 the time. happening now, ady visive presidential contest in france involving a right wing populist candidate as well as a hacking scandal all facing voters as

abc7 news. >> time now is 6:03. animals found to be neglected as the an oakland nature center found new homes in the bay area. yesterday we were at rabbit ears in el cerrito, one of the shops that took in animals rescued from the roteny nature center in oakland. reptiles, guinea pigs, three birds and a terror toys were sent to shelters and pet shops. the animals were found to be neglect and the in poor health. word quickly spread they needed some help. >> at some point they all came to me and said will you take if we can get these animals out, can you take some. we said of course, that's what we do. >> abbott ears took in two guinea pigs and a mouse. the rotary nature center has been shut down. now to a case of pimping and prostitution on the peninsula. investigators say the four you see here are accused of human trafficking in san bruno. investigators broke up the ring

friday arresting all four of them after serving a search warrant at a home on herman street. it the arrests come after a among long investigation involving several law enforcement agencies. in the south bay, the family of a woman killed by san jose police remembered her during a dedication. police shot and killed diana showman in 2014. her memory will be honored at a softball field where she used to play a sport she absolutely loved. abc news reporter lon i rivera has the story. >> first home run today. >> reporter: cambrian ballpark holds so many memories for the family. it's where their daughter diana marie showman first play add little league baseball. the diehard a's fan also volunteered here. >> we're lucky to have such good friends and family. she would have loved every minute of this. >> reporter: she would have loved it. >> she loved life. she loved baseball and being around people and kids. >> reporter: they unveiled this park bench honoring 19-year-old showman along with a plaque bearing her name and favorite

phrase. >> play ball. >> reporter: the bench is nice. it's a nice thing to have. but what we really care about is having the crisis intervention training for the police, keeping other families from having to go through this kind of pain. >> reporter: this scene captures that painful memory minutes after police responded to a domestic dispute. police say showman refused to drop a cordless power drill. you can see her holding it here. a police officer thought it was an uzi sub mesh gun and shot her. >> she made a bad mistake that day but i don't believe she should have paid with her life. >> reporter: the family filed a lawsuit which was settled. part of the settlement includes the parents working with san jose police with crisis intervention training. it brings some comfort knowing they can prevent a similar tragedy. >> we can feel her presence and be where she loved to be. >> reporter: lonie rivera, abc

news. happening now, the coast guard is working to salvage a b.a.r.t. maintenance barge that sank last month in the bay. the barge sank during a storm april 7th and is now on its side atop the transbay tube. divers will hook cables to the barge, then a crane will lift it up right. b.a.r.t. set up vibration monitors but does not expect service to be affected. warriors head coach remains out indefinitely after having a spinal cord leak procedure on his neck. joe lay could be said he had his spine drained in hopes of alleviating issues that have sidelined him. he has not cope the warriors in their last five playoff games. lay could be says "we have to be in his court here and support whatever it takes for him to get back. hopefully we'll have him coaching on the court sooner rather than later." the warriors are just one game away from the advancing to the western conference finals after taking a 3-0 lead over the utah

good morning to our friends along the coast. here's a live look outside from our santa cruz camera on this sunday morning. lisa will let us know when we can expect some sun in the accuweather forecast. 6:12 is 0 our time. a seemingly cold case from 13 years ago now appears solved. the sonoma county sheriff says there is evidence linking 38-year-old shaun gallon to a cold case double murder in 2004 in jenner. as abc7 news reporter melanie woodrow shows us, gallon made an impression on neighbors in guerneville where he once lived. >> reporter: people are talking about shaun gallon in downtown guerneville though many would rather not talk on camera after al ghagsz gallon is responsible

for the 2004 murders? of 26-year-old jason allen and 22-year-old linsey cut shawl. the couple died from gunshots to their heads as they slept on beach in the county. >> he had information about the killings that no other person could have known and we have located evidence that corroborates his statement. >> reporter: one man inside this restaurant and bar described gallon as being off. a caretaker where gal once stayed said he was known to shoot animals with arrows. in 2009, he shot james mcneal in his convertible with an arrow, as well. >> knocked the baseball cap off of my head. he hit me with quite a bit of force. and really lucky not to be injured at aller? says he thought it was an accident still he saw someone running away. gal be time for the crime. till now, mcneal never quite understood why law enforcement reacted the way it did. >> cops were coming into town with thanks, sniper rifles,

robots. >> reporter: deputies say gal has always been a person of interest in the jenner murders. >> detectives never ruled him out as a possible suspect. >> reporter: they didn't say why. he has been in county jail since march charged with shooting and killing his younger brother. friday's deputies searchd his home in forestville possibly looking for evidence in the jenner case. >> it's a terrible thing if he did it. >> melanie woodrow, abc7 news. a san francisco resident led a group of international athletes in a swim from the united states to mexico all from support of immigrants rights. they set up from imperial beach and swam across the border to a beach in tijuana escorted by the mexican navy and cleared for the swim by immigration officials. the organizer of the swim lives in san francisco and wanted to call attention to what she believes is the anti-immigration position of the current administration. >> this is not a protest. this is not a political statement. this is purely a swim for human

rights and to cast a global spotlight on human suffering. >> swimmers from the u.s., mexico, israel, new zealand and south africa all took part in the more than six-mile swim. happening today, friends and family of a man who decided during a performance with the san francisco gay men's chorus will hold a memorial service. 39-year-old ryan nunez collapsed at herbst theater in late march. doctors were unable to revive him. the artis tick director says nunez was their voice in the world and took care of everyone. the chorus is asking who knew him to attend today's service at 1:00 this afternoon at the national aids audmemorial grove in san francisco. someone has defaced two murals in the mission district. abc7 news was at 19th and san carlos where a mural of a butterfly's wings is covered by black paint. mission local reports the mural on the side of the pg&e substation was defaced with the

tag khy. it could stand for the gra feep teept crew keeps hoods yursz against gentrification and racism. a mural of a bear on another pat of the building was defaced with the same letters last month. a popular east bay soccer league that gives low income kids a chance to play the game they love kicked off its season today. we were at the san lorenzo adult school for the start of the youth soccer league. program is operated by the alameda deputy sheriff's league to bring together young players, families and law enforcement for games free of charge. organizers say it's a way to do outreach in the community. >> the kids are spre appreciative. they come up to us, law enforcement officers and want to engage in soccer. >> volunteers and donations help organize the soccer matches. the players get uniforms, equipment and a place to play without having to worry about the financial costs associated with the sport.

6:16 is our time. in richmond, 80 low income families will get solar energy this year at no cost. yesterday abc7 news was in richmond as a group of military veterans from bay area brave installed new solar panels on mel jackson's home. he's also a vet who served in the marine corps during the vietnam war. the volunteers are getting on the job training for future careers as spoe lar panel installers. he is grateful he qualified for the help. >> definitely. as you can see, we get plenty of sun light here. so it will save us quite a bit. >> he's expected to save $40,000 in power bills over the life of the system. and oakland non-profit organization called grid solar makes the panels. for more information on how you can qualify, just go to our abc7 news ap and look for this story. time now is 6:17. look at all of the snow. here's the view from our heavenly camera in lake tahoe yesterday. a lake spring snowstorm blank

keth higher elevations there. now your accuweather forecast with lisa argen. >> good morning to you. they saw even more of the snow down around mammoth and even some wet weather there. live doppler 7 showing a little bit of cloud cover with the satellite overlaid on top of the radar. we're looking at a nice day today because a ridge of high pressure will build in bringing some warmer days for next three days. as the clouds go up and over the ridge. so that's the storm track that will be well away from california. here's a live look from mt. tam where we're looking at clouds and a little less in the way of wind. 351 san francisco as well as san jose. 40s half moon bay and gilroy with 53 in oakland. looking at emeryville with gray skies for now but plenty of sunshine on the way. 50 santa rosa and napa as well as livermore. 51 by the delta. overall, we are just about where we were yesterday.

not too cool this morning. we'll be looking at a quicker warmup. from the exploratorium camera, it will it be breezy today on the water. as a result the national weather service issued a high surf advisory. sunny and warmer today with temperatures warming today. tomorrow into tuesday and looking at cooler days on wednesday. significantal cooing. the winds kick up and not only through the second half of the workweek but right on through the weekend including mother's day where we look at breezy and cool temperatures. high surf advise from sonoma down to monterey. looking at very dangerous conditions. with the gusty winds that's generated a large and dangerous surf. so there's northwesterly swells on through 2:00 this afternoon. if you are headed to the beach, breezy with northwest winds anywhere from 20 to perhaps 30 miles at times. from the mid 50s to the low 60s, bodega bay, ocean beach, half moon bay and towards santa cruz and enjoy lower 70s.

good morning east bay. let's get up and get going. >> this is abc7 mornings. >> it's great to have you with us. i'm chris nguyen. we're starting this half hour with a look at the weather. here's lisa argen tracking change in the accuweather forecast. >> how about more sunshine, less wind and a warmer afternoon. here's a look outside from mt. tam you can see the pretty start to the day. if you are headed to the higher elevations it will be breezy but not as windy. 51 in the city. it is 55 in oakland. 52 mountain view, 51 in san jose. from our sutro tower camera nice in the city with 50s. 52 in concord and novato.

obamacare. in upstate new york, representative tom reed held town hall meetings with his constituents. >> these are human beings. >> reporter: many of their concerns focused on so-called pre-existing conditions. this man says he recently donated a kidney. >> now that i have a pre-existing condition, that my cost of health care could go up significantly. and also, i could possibly be denied health care. >> reporter: the republican bill would roll back the affordable care act's protections for patients with pre-existing conditions, that's one out of every four americans. health insurers would still have to cover them but the bill does include a mechanism allowing insurance companies to raise rates on those patients. possibly even making their insurance unaffordable. in idaho, congressman raul labrador shot back at a constituent who told him without access to health care, people will die. >> that line is so indefensible.

nobody dies because they don't have access to health care. >> it will be great health care and your premiums will come down and your deductibles will come down. so you'll have better health karat a lower cost. and now, i'm calling on the senate to take action. >> reporter: some house members now admit they voted for the bill without reading the fine print. >> i don't think any individual has read the whole bill. that's why we have staff. >> reporter: new jersey congressman rodney frelinghuysen switched his vote from no to yes at the last minute after promising his constituents he would look out for them. >> i support looking after pre-existing conditions. >> he was holding my letter in his hand the, yes. whether he said that. >> reporter: adina renfro michele is a survivor of stage 4 breast cancer. >> don't take away the protections we already have. and my representative voted to

happening today, the jfk library foundation will honor former president barack obama with the 2017 profile in courage award at the centennial may dinner. the event raises money to support the kennedy library's educational programs. the foundation says president obama upheld the highest standards of dignity, decency and integrity throughout his two terms in office. james taylor will perform during tonight's ceremony. overseas, the boko haram islamist militant group has released 82 schools girls abducted from nost northeasternern nigeria three years ago. they'll be flown to safety today. the release comes in exchange for the freedom of several boko haram suspects who were in custody. missing. the school girls were take in april 2014 by militants who stormed a girls secondary school in chibok. the mass abduction triggered an international outcry. this summer marks 20 years

pg&e learned a tragic lesson we can never forget. this gas pipeline ruptured in san bruno. the explosion and fire killed eight people. pg&e was convicted of six felony charges including five violations of the u.s. pipeline safety act and obstructing an ntsb investigation. pg&e was fined, placed under an outside monitor, given five years of probation, and required to perform 10,000 hours of community service. we are deeply sorry. we failed our customers in san bruno. while an apology alone will never be enough, actions can make pg&e safer. and that's why we've replaced hundreds of miles of gas pipeline, adopted new leak detection technology that is one-thousand times more sensitive, and built a state-of-the-art gas operations center.
