georgia, wildfires forcing evacuations. residents there grabbing the bare necessities as inferno advances. >> important papers. food. food, our food. what we could. everything we could. everything else we just had to leave. >> reporter: schools in charlton county, closed monday. the fire moving quickly. burning estimating 1 mile each hour. charring an area bigger than city of atlanta. that fire still not under control. >> scared for my nanny and all my friends here. it's pretty bad. >> reporter: the wind have come down across the fire zone. still bone dry across the state of florida with no real rain in the forecast. at least through the end of this week. rob marciano, abc news, sunrise, florida. >> thank you, rob. after a three-year hostage ordeal, dozens of school girls in nigeria have been freed. a government official says, 5 boko haram commanders were released for the 82 girls. boko haram seized over 200 from

a boarding school in 2014. many of the girls escaped. others since released. but 113 girls are still missing. >> that sparked the whole bring back our girls campaign that went viral. officials in upstate new york are trying to figure out what exactly killed a three-time u.s. olympic gold medalist. team officials believe that 37-year-old bobsledder, died in his sleep in lake placid. autopsy found fluid in his lungs. preliminary toxicology results did not show any drugs in his system. coroner says there is no suspicion of foul play. an inmate who went missing at a prison in indiana found, authorities thought that orville morris escaped. he never left the prison. discovered yesterday, hiding in the ceiling along the heating and ventilation ducts. serving a burglary sentence. now in high security housing facing additional charges for the escape attempt. >> not most effective escape attempt. >> no. did not have success.

demonstrators on the confederate monument debate faced off in new orleans. hundreds gathered for the take them down march. protesters calling for the removal of statues, honoring jefferson davis and, robert e. lee. three arrests were reported. but the protests were largely peaceful. >> all taking place, jazz fest is taking place in new orleans. prices at the pump dropped this month. latest survey shows drivers are paying 5 cents a gallon less than they did just two weeks ago. nationwide average is $2.41. however, still 14 cents more than a year ago. a beach that completely vanished in ireland more than 30 years ago has suddenly reappeared. spring storms washed away all of the sand back in 1984, leaving nothing but rocks behind. but, last month, a strange tide re-created the beach. dumping tons of sand back on to the shores. villagers say they're thrilled to have their beach back. the whole thing is incredible

this brace girl scout is under police protection after she was caught on camera in the czech republic. the 16-year-old started receiving threats on facebook after the photo went viral. anti-terrorism authorities are taking the threats seriously. they took immediate action to make sure the teen remains safe. some tense moments played out in frankfurt, germany, forcing the evacuation of 50,000 residents. it happened after three world war ii era bombs were discovered at a constructing site. this after about nine hours. bomb disposal experts, diffused all three bombs. the all-clear signal was given. people were returned home. >> meantime back here in the u.s., police in boston are looking into any possible connections between two doctors engaged to be married and were killed in their luxury penthouse apartment and the suspect in this case. >> that's right the suspect

down inside a vehicle leaving a house party. officer roy oliver originally said the teens were aggressively backing up. but his own body camera video apparently contradicted that story. well now edward's family is suing the officer and the police department. saying, oliver wasn't trained properly on the use of deadly force. >> it's been 47 years since the state of texas had a conviction for murder of a law enforcement officer. so, family as they said from the beginning for the long haul. >> officer oliver faces a murder charge and could face up to life in prison if he is convicted. no comment from oliver or the police department on the lawsuit or the charges. now to mysterious double-murder two of boston doctors. authorities trying to determine if they will be able to arraign the suspect today. he remains in the hospital after being wounded in a shootout with police on friday night. that shootout happened at the same billing where moments later, police found the body of

the doctors in their penthouse condominium. police have not revealed a motive. they think he knew the couple who were engaged to be married. in chicago, two people are dead after gunfire broke out at a memorial for victims for another shooting. eight people were injured in that shooting yesterday afternoon. and the men and women were killed, the victims remembering a man shot to death earlier that same day. police say both shootings were gang related. wildfire raging near tampa bay, florida, forcing officials to evacuate a nature preserve and shut down the highway. the pasco fire has grown to 2,200 acres and 50% contained. officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation. more than 100 wildfires burning across the sunshine state. florida experiencing quite a bit of a dry spell of late. meantime, parts of california looking unseasonably white. and unusual winter like storm. hit southern california over the

90 feet down an old mine shaft. authorities say he was camping with his family and went out for a night time ride. when he didn't return they couldn't locate him, they called 911. >> you're responding to a 5 mile pass area. again, 5 mile pass. this is going to be for an individual that drove an atv into the open mine shaft. no injuries at this time. we're having search-and-rescue respond as well. >> nearly 100 search-and-rescue members worked several hours to get the man out. he was then airlifted in serious condition to a nearby hospital. but expected to make a full recovery. now to the 10-year-old girl who survived an attack from a nearly nine-foot gator in florida over the weekend. the girl was with her family at a lake when attacked in 2 feet of water. abc's adrienne bankert has more. >> reporter: young girl caught in the grip of a nearly 9 foot alligator. >> female conscious and breathing attacked by an alligator. >> reporter: the 10-year-old

in the meantime, in europe, denmark, two americans killed in a jet ski accident taking place over the weekend. two women were college students enrolled in study abroad program. on a boating excursion in copenhagen in the harbor. danish police suspect reckless driving by jet skiers caused them to crash into the students' boat. five students were sent to the hospital. police reportedly arrested nine people. delta airlines canceled the scheduled media day event in the wake of congressional probe into customer service issues. the news comes a few days after a family with two young children was kicked off a flight from maui to l.a. for refusing to give up their 2-year-old's seat. the video posted to youtube last week and made quite a stir. in an online statement, delta said the timing for the event wasn't right. now a senior pilot has reportedly been suspended for sleeping on the job. a worried passenger snapped a photo and posted it online.
