transit. crime numbers on b.a.r.t. may be up but if you take muni in san francisco you could breathe a little easier. >> tiffany at the straight station has more. >> reporter: muni crime rates dropped. muni tracks their crime rates based on miles travelled per vehicle and as of february 2017, there are 3.8 crimes per 1,000 miles travelled and that's down from 12.2 in 2014. they are making better video technology and improved communication with police and policing. one rider said the news is exciting but she's still on her guard. >> at this time, i am a little nervous and i leave my house

this man has been missing since last week. he's a 24-year-old from virginia and was last seen around last monday from a housekeeping camp and he is insienlisted in the n and his car has been found. if you have any information, contact police. police were called to montgomery drive and second street last night following reports of a man beating a woman. witnesses say he dragged the woman's unconscious body into a car and drove off. police started that vehicle near 4th street and farmer's lane and pulled him over and saw him in the back. the suspect and the victim are said to be homeless. the man was arrested and the woman is now being treated and we don't know what caused the

attack ppb >. investigators believe this van was stolen from a woman with a disability and that van has an electric trramp to help her getn and out. the license plate now to a story you will only see on abc news. a uber driver said he was kidnapped at gunpoint before escaping with his life. he claims he picked up the couple after they pulled a gun and knife on him he drove him to a liquor store in the city of richmond. the suspects used the app even though he was not taking rides. he made a run for it when they stopped to get money from the atm, and they took off with the car. >> it proved to be a right thing for him to do. >> definitely having u

45 in novato about 62 in tahoe. for us today temperatures are going to be a little warmer, 67 in san francisco to about 83 in napa. tomorrow our warmest day of the week, 68 to about 88. look at the weather whiplash, 10 to 17 degrees cooler on wednesday. we will take a look at microclimates and see if this causes any rain coming up next. i am seeing a little haziness on golden gate bridge as well, so not going to be a major issue as far as visibility is concerned but it's out there. everything cruising along southbound on 101. and we are doing pretty well -- westbound 80, i should say, highway 4 to the hayes about 24 minutes, and 21 if you are continuing on across the bay bridge. we are hearing about a pretty serious crash on surface streets in san jose.

along the coast. my accuweather 7-day forecast, warmest tomorrow, and then 10 to 17 degrees cooler on wednesday and then we just get cooler, and 50s and 60s on mother's day and breezy, too. this looks like it's really serious. this is in san jose. the south side of the branam high school. we have a full closure of the branam lane west, and tpau raur closed. we have not gotten word on injuries, but, boy, just what is left of that vehicle. we have not gotten any details and hopefully everybody is okay. as soon as i get more information, i will pass that along. for now, branam avenue west is fully closed for the cleanup and the investigation. on top of that, things have been fairly quiet. we have a crash they are trying to clear on vasco, the

>> macron is expected to continue many of the challenges by the outgoing president. oakland's active fire chief is opening the investigation into the ghost ship fi firefighters went inside that warehouse but didn't report concerns about safety conditions. according to the report, some firefighters attended a party at the warehouse the next day. the acting fire chief says those firefighters could be demoted or fired because they did not respond properly. 36 people died in december's ghost ship fire. federal investigators are looking for a man that started a fire at a san jose church. it happened around 2:00 yesterday morning at the assyrian church of the east on minnesota avenue. surveillance shows a man scaling a fence and setting fire to the storage shed next to the building and the fire destroyed the shed and tools inside.

the vehicles travel, and so the crime rate dropped nearly 70% since a high of 12.2 crimes per 100,000 miles in october of 2013. a spokesperson said they are making muni more secure from data driven policing and video technology and improved communication with the police and by contrast, b.a.r.t. is seeing a rise in crime. >> i don't have problem with that but i am concerned with other passengers. they look scared. >> in response to the recent trend of teen robberies, b.a.r.t.'s active chief says they are applying officers to the most crime infected stations. a hiker is safe this morning thanks to an aerial rescue team in contra costa county. you will look at an officer being lowered to help a woman that broke her ankle this weekend. officials decided flying the hiker to safety was easier than

carrying her because of the unstable footing. one san francisco-based non-profit is putting up $100 million to help the homeless problem, tipping point's goal is to cut the homeless population in new year's. the money should go for housing and mental health systems. it's the largest donation the city ever received to fight the chronic issue. chronic issue. on to developing north korea. authorities declined a fourth american on saturday while he was in the country doing agriculture work. >> bargaining chips and security. they want to try and use them in negotiations but i think a bigger reason right now is they want to discourage the u.s. from

you will have pockets of sunshine at the coast, and sunny and hazy and warmer. we will have a whiplash warmup, and that cooler than average weather will hang around through mothers day. and it's a moderate sunday. it's going to move out of the way and before this low comes in that's the high pressure that will bring us warmer weather but this is what is going to bring us the cooler weather on thursday. san jose at about 78. we will have 71 to 76 on the peninsula. redwood city at 75. 63 at half moon bay. that's as warm as it gets along the boy today. and being a little optimist ying, and that's a little bit above average. look at this mid to upper 50s, bodega bay. and 72 at oakland, union city, fremont, and then 79 to 83 in our east bay valleys.
