jurors are getting ready to have their say in the sierra lamar murder case. good evening and thank you for joining us. i'm ama daetz. >> i'm dan ashley. the verdict in the torres case is set to be announced at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. >> tonight anticipation from both sides of this five-year long criminal case. katie marzullo is live with the developing story. >> reporter: ama, dan, it likely will be a sleepless night for everyone involved. sierra lamar disappeared five years ago. the trial lasted three months and now in just ten hours we'll hear that long-awaited verdict. >> there's no higher stakes -- >> reporter: legal analyst steven clark is surprised the jury in the murder trial reached a verdict after only two days worth of deliberations. >> what it shows me is this is a group that got to work right away. they worked together collaboratively, factions didn't build up in the jury deliberation room. >> reporter: angelina garcia torres is charged with first degree murder. if found guilty he faces the

death penalty. prosecution says he killed the 15-year-old, that his dna was found on her discarded clothing. the defense says the dna evidence is flawed and since sierra's body has not been found it is nothing more than a missing persons case. >> is it possible sierra lamar could still be alive? if that is the case, that would explain why they came back so quickly, if they felt that the da didn't prove sierra lamar was in fact dead. >> reporter: sierra's father talked to "abc 7 news" after first day of deliberations. >> it's been a long time, but it is a blink of an eye compared to how much time we haven't had sierra with us. >> reporter: garcia tores is also on trial for the attempted kidnappings of three women in a safe way parking lot. there will be four separate verdicts read at 9:00 a.m. tuesday. in san jose, katie marzullo, "abc 7 news." the verdict, again, is expect at 9:00 a.m. download the "abc 7 news" app and download push alerts to get the

"abc 7 news" was in danville where it happened two hours ago. one of the suspects was in custody. police say one man used a hammer to smash a jewelry case. store employees were able to hold down a suspect until the police arrived. the search continues for the other two. new at 11:00, check out this fire burning right next to the union pacific train tracks in union city. you can see trees burning in a dry field. it started at 8:00 tonight at a homeless encampment. firefighters had it contained to less than an acre in half an hour. a dublin family is suing bart after being caught in the middle of a violent mob attack. last month at the bart station dozens of teenagers jumped the gate and started robbing an beating people. a family filed a million dollar lawsuit claiming safety failures

that could have prevented the attack. the father says his family is still traumatized. >> two individuals jumped on me and started beating me. i laid back in the seat to cover up, a third individual started beating me. at that point my wife fell on my daughter to cover her up. >> investigators arrested two people and identified several juveniles. new developments to night in the investigation into what went wrong moments before a plane crashed in napa county. here it is. it happened today at lake berry. the plane was a single engine slight sport amphibious aircraft. lilian kim is in the newsroom with up to the minute information on the story. lilian. >> reporter: icon aircraft created a lot of buzz in the "african voices"an injury when it debuted the a-5 which is part boat, all airplane. clearly today is a setback for the start up. ntsb investigators say their first priority is to get it to a secure location. the aircraft was only in the air 20 minutes before it crashed in a remote section of the lake.

inside were two icon employees who died in the crash. the pilot, 55-year-old john carcow and his passenger, 41-year-old. >> we don't have any known witnesses at this point in time to the accident sequence itself. we are looking for witnesses. >> reporter: in a statement icon ceo said it was a devastating personal loss for many of us. the tholts and prayers of our entire organization are with the families of both people on board. they were both truly amazing individuals. icon's mission is to build planes just for fun. the a-5, an amphibious single engine two seater sells for at much as $257,000. he talked about the joy of flying in an icon video. >> the most fun you can have i think in any sport, and flying is a, is when the tool you are using is out of mind. you are just flying. >> reporter: industry experts say while the crash is no doubt a setback for the company, icon has been applauded for introducing an innovative aircraft to the market.

>> in that regard it has been exciting especially for those who want to see more light sport aircraft. >> reporter: as for the investigation, the ntsb says a preliminary report should be released in the next five business days. lilian kim, "abc 7 news." marin county's top coroner is back in the bay area to face child molestation charges, 46-year-old darryl harris was arrest fried day. "abc 7 news" was in the courthouse today, but the judge wouldn't let cameras in. harris is accused of abusing a girl over the course of seven years. investigators say it started when she was under age 14. she is now an adult. harris faces four felonies. he will be back in court next week. new at 11, some people who live in east bay are pushing back against pg&e tonight, fighting its plan to cut down nearly 300 trees. those trees may be chopped down in lafayette for a gas pipeline safety project, but people living nearby don't believe it is going to make them any safer. "abc 7 news" reporter katie utehs is live to explain why.

>> reporter: there's been a real movement. they've created these signs, made a petition, even started a website. they're calling this effort by pg&e smoke and mirrors, following the san bruno conviction. >> what the agreement is doing is wrong for the city of lafayette. >> reporter: michael dawson is spear heading an effort to save trees in lafayette, some 272 along a gas pipeline including old oaks and red woods have been identified for removal by pg&e. >> the primary issue here is insuring first responders have access to gas transmission lines in event of an emergency or national disaster. >> reporter: the utility wants ten feet of clearance on both sides of the line. >> if there is a rupture, we need to access that line and we actually squeeze it off. it is using -- almost looked at as a large pair of flyers. >> reporter: residents say it doesn't prevent a leak or explosion. >> this is not helping anyone be safer. they need to do more
