or nothing blocking this morning just volume slowly filling in. and, yeah, it's moving along just fine as you can see. drive times look great, too. westbound 80, highway 4ed to maze in 17 minutes, and southbound 101, san francisco to sfo in the green at nine minutes. we will check on the toll plaza coming up next. we are tracking a house fire in the east bay that injured two firefighters. >> now the people that live there could be facing criminal charges. for more let's get to abc7 news reporter, amy hollyfield, who is live in antioch. >> reporter: you can see some damage on the outside of the home from this fire, and some of the blackened facade and the real problem was inside the walls. fire investigators showed us the wiring here at this home, and they call it illegal saying the homeowner was stealing electricity from the neighborhood because they could not afford to pay for their own,

and they found out about it the hard way and two firefighters were hurt because of this. >> firefighters responded here and they were shocked by an unprotected electrical circuit, and that put their lives at risk and that's a very serious concern for our fire department and all other fire departments. >> reporter: here's a look at the team fighting the fire. this happened at 11:00 last night in antioch on blythe drive. the family inside was okay and nobody else was hurt. fire investigators say the homeowner could face felony charges but did not say if charges have been filed. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> thank you. right now alameda county and oakland firefighters continue to put out hot spots at a construction fire in emeryville two days after it started. yesterday you could see the construction crane was bogged down in what is being called a controlled fall, and that's after a fire early saturday

japanese media reporting the railway company was hit and doesn't seem to be affecting train service for folks and one japanese hospital is closed, and meanwhile the french auto maker says one of its plants won't open due to the attack. i am keeping my eye on developmen developments. we are learning more this morning about how the cyber attack works. the well-coordinated attacks crippled thousands of computers worldwide since friday, and it was a vulnerability in windows, and microsoft offered a patch back in march. they are saying it's not too late for those companies to protect themselves p. to those who have not updated your software, it's imperative

you do so to get through it and to continue to get through it as the attack will change over the week. >> experts are warning this could be the beginning and we could see similar and bigger attacks. santa clara prosecutors want their psychologist to evaluate torres before his sentencing phase begins tomorrow. his claims say he suffered from stress and trauma. they want to use that report to show he does not deserve the death penalty. last week jurors found torres guilty of killing lamar in 2012. that's the sound of a mother's day shoot-out in san francisco between two cars that were going at each other while speeding through a quiet san

francisco neighborhood. some neighbors had to duck for cover. cornell bernard has more. >> i dropped to the ground immediately and it was two cars chasing each other. >> reporter: she took cover with with her dog on polk street. >> i heard, pop, pop, pop. >> a red sedan being fired on, and a high-speed chase down street. police investigators closed two blocks counting shell casings scattered in the street. kevin o'donnell saw the action from his apartment window. >> we saw two cars side by side blow through the stop sign, high speeds, but continuous bullets ringing out. >> take a close look. from the video you can see a gun pointed out the window of the red bmw.

>> i heard the gunshots and looked up and saw the gun still out of the car. >> lynn said the two cars sped away. >> could you believe what you were seeing here? >> no, actually i was not prepared for that this morning. on mother's day? really? >> reporter: police are looking for the two suspect cars, and it's unknown if anybody in the gray sedan was injured. >> it's always nice and quiet. that's what surprised me. >> reporter: police are revealing the surveillance footage and don't know what led up to the violence. a store clerk shot and injured a suspect that was trying to rob his fairfield shop yesterday afternoon around 12:40. witnesses tell police the suspect walked into the store wearing a mask before pulling a gun in an attempt to rob the store. that's when the store clerk pulled out his gun and shot the man in his chest. the suspect is now in critical condition, and the clerk is not facing any charges. investigators in new york this morning are trying to

pinpoint the cause in the massive fire. it destroyed a historic synagogue. it was built in 1850, and it's now abandoned, but look at the flames. the synagogue once served as a house of worship for a orthodox jewish congregation. nobody was hurt in the fire. and then a bike race finishes up in san jose. stage two begins today in modesto, when the riders reach the bay area they have to climb up and over mt. hamilton. and the finish line is at the motorcycle park at metcalf road. and it ends on saturday in pasade pasadena. >> announcer: now your accuweather forecast with mike nicco. >> it's going to be greener for those guys, but they are going to have to deal with breezy conditions on top of mt. hamilton today. a look at 280 in san jose where

it's mostly clear this morning. on the bay or at the coast, the breezes pick up. if you are going to be exercising, winds less than 10 miles per hour at the golden gates, but will be up to 30. tree and grass pollen high, and uv index, as high as it can get. and look at pittsburgh, antioch and brentwood, 51. walnut creek, dublin, 50. the cool spot in our east bay valleys, 45 right now in pleasanton. we have 40s. look at that, 45 in novato, and napa and santa rosa, 42. and 49 in mountain view, and san jose and 53 in hayward. let's jump ahead to tomorrow morning. you can see our next storm a. few sprinkles along the coast and drizzles there, and it's up in the north bay through the morning commute and could have

isolated showers, as the storm system dips into the rest of our neighborhoods. it kicks up clouds until we get to the latter parts of the afternoon and evening hours. can you see around the east bay hills, a few scattered light showers, and then those will dissipate by the time we get to wednesday morning. so light, and didn't put a storm impact scale on it. here's alexis. yeah, we are still looking fairly quiet this morning. no metering lights, and that should happen in the next 15 minutes or so. we are slowly starting to fill in in the usual parts but it has been a quiet start to kick off the week. the only issue so far this morning was a bunch of boxes on highway 17 around the cats statues, and so you are all clear if you are coming up from the santa cruz mountains into this area.

this next story is just wild. a driver is now in jail, wanted for attempted murder. this incident caught on camera this incident caught on camera in beverly hills. do you see what happened here? you see the woman driving a car into the man. they got into an argument before that about littering, and the man appears to roll a shopping cart into her car and that's when she drives right into him. police arrested the driver and her passenger, now both are in jail for attempted murder. new developments this morning in west virginia where peaceful protesters are denouncing white nationalist. it was to show opposition to this rally that happened on saturday, and white nationalists

groups were speaking out about the plans to sell a confederate statue of robert e. lee. and then officers say woman was driving a jeep, and the driver cashed into a wall and tree before landing in front of a montessori school. the 24-year-old passenger died. now police are saying this is not the drivers' first run in with the law. >> she has extensive criminal history and contacts with law enforcement. >> the whole incident is horrible and the officers are doing what they do, and thank god that nobody else was injured in this. >> it all started on saturday when police went to the clayton station shopping center with the report of somebody look into cars, and that suv was stolen. a fire forced ten people out of their homes in san francisco.

it started yesterday afternoon on the deck of a home about a block from balboa high school. firefighters got it out quickly and nobody was hurt. happening today, san francisco major, ed lee, announcing a record-level investment for street paving projects. that's the same neighborhood where the supervisor is calling on people to report potholes by this weekend promising they will be filled next month and she declared june, fewer month, get it? because her last night is fewer. and journal, the county wants to use state, federal and private money to renovate some parks.

the plans call for new pedestrian paths and accessible trails and concession stands and kayak rentals. a dinosaur fossil that 7,000 hours to prepare. this fossil was discovered in 2011, and its skin and body armour are almost perfectly intact and showed exactly what it looked like. the specimen is about 110 million years old and weighs 125 125,000 pounds. and this is a series that six flags employees at vallejo are watching closely. ride crews will wear warrior's t-shirts, and if for some the

61 in south san francisco. check out the north bay, that breeze coming off the ocean and getting all the way to petaluma, 67. everybody else around 70 to 72 degrees. east bay shore, 64 at berkeley. the cool spot along with hercules to 66 to castro valley and fremont. 70 to 73 degrees inland east bay. when it gets in the mid-90s this weekend, maybe you will wish you had those temperatures back. temperatures in the mid-40s to mid-50s tonight. you can see a little green out there and we will keep an eye on the possible drizzle. and again tomorrow during the afternoon into the evening commute, and then we get back to average on wednesday. we have lift off above average on thursday and look at that, 70s at the coast and 80s and 90s, friday, sat and sunday. hey, alexis. i have to get my fans back out and i am one of the unlucky ones in the east bay without ac. and this is the marsh road

two firefighters were electrocuted overnight. investigators blame the homeowners for illegally stealing electricity from their neighborhood and the homeowner could face felony charges. two people are without a home in san jose after their house went up in flames. i just learned a short while ago they were doing a renovation on their home and the red cross is helping them out and no word on a cause. number three, two people shot on interstate 880 in hayward. chp says it happened late last night and no information on the suspect vehicle has been released. the cyber attack should be treated by governments as a wake-up call. microsoft's president says it's the equivalent of the u.s. military having some of the tomahawk missiles stolen. let's take a look at the numbers as we look from mount tamalpais. notice i put cool for now.

temperatures 20 to 30 degrees warmer by the weekend. number six, the only blocking issue we have right now is in the redwood city area, and the marsh on-ramp to 101 is blocked a. vehicle hit a pedestrian and it sounds like that person ran out in front of the vehicle and we are hearing about serious injuries and i will keep an eye on this this morning. and new miss usa is once again from the district of columbia. she's go to go on to compete in the miss universe contest, however she got dragged on twitter, and she made comments about health care including that she thinks health care is a privilege, not a right. so some people were not so happy with some of her comments and we will talk more about that at 6:00 a.m. this kitten you see here went on quite a ride. >> chp were on the crash site

wrong date, and it says it's friday. >> it's a question mark, question mark, question mark. >> they probably have a running joke upstairs, who is going to get reggie today? >> yeah, i do know it's a monday, so i'm on the right track. >> some kind of eating or drinking game -- >> every time reggie gets a day wrong, we do something? >> yeah, and we are going to do something on the cool side of average. we are looking at a dry live doppler 7. let's talk about what will happen the rest of today. let me show you first 101 at 880 and some of the sunshine that already is starting to peek over the hills and mountains into the south bay. we are chilly this morning from 39 in petaluma to 52 in richmond and in the mid-50s to the upper 50s along the coast, and mid-60s at noon around the bay, and everybody in the 50s at 7:00. now we have got clouds this morning and we will become sunny by noon and become breezy by

4:00, and that's why we are going to be below average once again. and the breezes kick up a chance of wet weather tomorrow. we do have the bay bridge metering lights on, and once that happens it does not take long to fill in and start backing up into the maze. that's typical here for a weekday commute. a check of drive times, and also typical heavy traffic out of tracy, 580, tracy to dublin, 50 minutes, not terrible. and 101, san rafael to san francisco in the green at ten minutes. we have a crash involving a pedestrian near the peninsula and we will look at that next. and then a two-alarm fire at a home started near 24th and san antonio this morning, and somebody tried to help firefighters by spraying water from a garden hose and people driving by spotted the flames and called 911. >> it was really bad.

the house almost collapsed and we stopped and helped the family and helped them out and gave them water. >> nobody was hurt and the cause is under investigation. it has happened again as they have dozens of times in the past year, police are investigating a highway shooting. >> this time two people were hurt on 880 and hayward. matt keller is live at the scene. >> reporter: traffic is picking up here on southbound 880 in hayward. the good news for commuters, traffic is now open here on the win ton avenue exit and on-ram s on-ramps. two people were shot but nobody was killed. the truck is a gray toyota kau tomorr, and it was traveling around 9:00 last night and taking the witten off-ramp and then somebody open

fire and three people were in the truck and two were taken to the hospital and are stable with nonlife threatening injuries. they don't have a description of the suspect's vehicle. >> matt, thank you. happening today the fbi and chp are holding a news conference with leaders to discuss the installation of cameras on two areas on the east bay. there have been more than 80 highway shootings in the last year and a half and many on interstate 880 and highway 4. in an effort to catch the shootings as they happen. >> this is such a sad story. grief counselors will be at a union city high school today and they are helping students and faculty cope with the death of a senior that was weeks away from graduation. she died in a car crash in fremont and her mom was driving when another car plowed into them. the mom has major injuries but

is expected to survive. shane has just spent the night at the james logan high school prom. >> she was supposed to be graduating, like, next month, and then, like, just not seeing that hurts my heart, and, like, i just want to see her graduate. >> the people in the car that hit shane and her mother have minor injuries. fremont police are look into whether alcohol or speeding may have played a role in the crash. if you drive highway 17 through the santa cruz mountains, you may have though tuesdayed heavier traffic and more car accidents there. unsafe drivers that speed or tailgate or change lanes. there were nearly 1,000 crashes last year, and that is double the number from three years earlier. part of the reason is the indefinite closure of the road that was washed out during storms this past winter. the number of officers patrolling the road is down due to staff turnover. happening now people go into

work could find their computers have been affected part of a world-wide cyber attack, and there are reports of the cyber wear spreading in asia this morning, and the number of attacks is expected to sky rock as people get to their work computers. the virus works by exploiting a windows vulnerability on pc's, and hackers demand ransom to release the devices. the flaw was discovered by the nsa but stolen by hackers and published online. microsoft released a patch in march that fixes that flaw. and then a new ballistic test, and north korea launched its first missile capable of reaching northern california. it landed in the sea of japan. the white house, south korea and japan are condemning the launch that was supervised by kim jong-un. another court hearing on

president trump's revised travel ban. in march a judge in hawaii stopped it from taking affect. it's essentially, they said a. ban on muslims. the judge pointed to campaign comments suggesting mr. trump would ban muslims coming to the u.s. if elected. happening today, city firefighters and inspectors will start checking properties in the oakland hills for fire danger. they need to make sure homeowner remove any tall grass, weeds or brush from around homes and other structures and property owners will have 30 days to fix it and property owners that fail to pass the inspection are fined a minuimum of 300 bucks. and then warriors overcoming a 25-point deficit to beat the spurs. >> boy, did they make people nervous yesterday. golden state fell behind early in the game, but then took

tag and we could show them here. here's a look from the south bay. you can see a few clouds out there and they are thicker as you get over towards the east bay shore. it's going to break up and be a little careful if you are going to be on the roads. it's going to be breezy near the water this afternoon, and my biggest caution is on the water today because we do have a small craft advisory developing at 3:00, which means it will be getting breezy and choppy. if you are taking mass transit, it's a little cool this morning and this afternoon. 49 in fremont right now, in orinda, the warm spot, and oakland 54, and hayward 53, and everybody else around 50 to 51 degrees. 50 over in san carlos. and we have mountain view, san jose. novato, 45. pleasanton about 44 degrees. i want to jump ahead to tomorrow morning. cloud cover comes back, and a few chances of drizzle along the coast. a stray shower possible around

clear lake and ukiah, and as we go through the morning commute, still a couple stray chances of showers up in the north bay. and as we head overnight, the cold front pushes through, and we wake up to sunshine on wednesday, and let the warming begin. 90s coming back for the weekend. i will show you that coming up next. here's alexis. i want to head back to the peninsula where we have a serious crash involving a car and pedestrian. it happened on the westbound it happened on the westbound marsh road on-ramp o north bound. there is a full closure. this could turn into a sigalert for now, and for now it's the marsh road 101 northbound on-ramp, and sounds like it's going to be there for a while. south bay looking good, just slight delays starting to fill

that the bay area native may be president trump's next press secretary. the president has floated the idea of replacing sean spicer gill foil, and she was rumored to be a top contender for the press secretary job before mr. trump chose spicer. promised to be a big week in washington has the hunt for the

new fbi director gets into high gear. over the weekend the firestorm over the firing continued with the trump administration scrambling to fire a consistent story on that dismissal. meanwhile senior lawmakers are urging the president to turnover any recordings he may have with comey. >> you have to make sure if the tapes don't mysteriously disappear if they exist. >> i think they will probably have to turn them over. >> the tapes in question are those referenced by the president in a friday tweet storm. he wrote james comey better hope there are no tapes of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press. the white house has declined to say whether recordings exist. and then following a dispute over where a family should stow a birthday quake. this happened on a flight from jfk to las vegas.

>> to move my bag -- >> but we moved it. >> jetblue says the family tried to store the cake in an overhead bin used for emergency equipment and a flight attendant ordered them to put it under a seat and a second flight attendant took issue with that and confronted the family and that's when the situation seemed to escalate. >> when she told me i was being noncompliant, and i said, ma'am, you have been drinking. jetblue had the police remove the family because jetblue james they accused a crew member unfit to fly. everybody was forced to deplane and the family was refunded and ended up taking a united flight the next day. >> and speaking of united the airline says critical information how to open cockpit doors may have been public. united is refusing to say specifically how it was

compromised. there are other safeguards in place to secure flight decks and u.s. airlines beefed up procedures after 9/11. and then a class action lawsuit against walmart. some employees sued the retailer saying their same-sex spouses were denied health care benefits between 2012 and 2013. a state is planning to spend more than $220 million to make sure driver's license and state id cards will meet federal standards. people have to show a birth certificate and two documents showing california residency and a proof of a social security number. california residents have to apply for the cards at a dmv office and not online or by mail. a man noticed pups on his

the 68 today in san jose to the 66 in milpitas and the warm spot at 64, and that 60 at half moon bay. and we will have 60 in san francisco. 67 as the sea breeze reaches to petaluma. and 70 to 72 for moist valleys. oakland and hayward at 65 along with orinda and richmond. 70 in san ramon, and livermore to 73 in brentwood. mid-40s to mid-50s and cloudy conditions. if there's anything following, we will check it out tomorrow morning with live doppler 7 as the stray showers will keep us in the 50s and 60s. and then check out friday, saturday and sunday. 70s at the beaches, 80s around the bay and 90s inland. i want to head back to the peninsula and this has turned

into a sigalert now, and this is a crash pretty serious. it's involving a pedestrian. the westbound marsh road on-ramp to northbound 101 is fully closed. this is all due to what are major injuries and at least an hour before we get that back open. avoid that if you can, east bay ha marsh road exit is still open, just the east bay closed. and then a quick check of drive times here as well. westbound 580 tracy to dublin in the red at 53 minutes. southbound 680 dublin to mission boulevard in the yell at 22, and northbound 85 looking good between 101 and cupertino, in the green at 16 minutes. you know a better day starts here on "abc7 mornings," and we want to give a better day shout out to the walnut creek aqua knots. they cleaned house at an international competition in
