this surveillance video outside a mosque near tampa. watch as the suspect pours some accelerant on the sidewalk and lights it on fire. the incident happened in february. police are releasing the video hoping the public can help them find that person. the fire was extinguished quickly. but the mosque did sustain some damage. now to colorado where a school district briefly banned the book "13 reasons why" after a string of suicides. critics say the novel and netflix series by the same name, romanticizes suicide. the order to remove the book came from a single school official. but since has been put back on library shelves after school officials actually read it and saw it wasn't as graphic and sensationalized at the netflix series. 12 children in houston were injured. >> firefighters were called to the school after a ball of fire quickly got out of control. abc's phillip mena at the scene. >> reporter: children carried off. rushed away to nearby ambulances and awaiting parents after a

the story that came out tonight as reported is false. >> then the president confirmed he shared secrets with the russians in a series of tweets. as president i wanted to share with you at an openly scheduled meeting. which i have the absolute right to do. facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. meeting with the russian foreign min see was a hot potato. coming one day after the firing of fbi director james comey, who was investigating russia's efforts to meddle in the november election. the president invoked comey's name in his own defense, suggesting the problem isn't what he told the russians, but rather what leakers inside the room disclosed to the post. i have been asking director comey and others to find the leakers in the intelligence community he tweeted. the republican chair of the house oversight committee sent a letter to the fbi requesting all memoranda, notes, summaries and recordings having to do with comy and the president.

sources say the president made the request while alone in the oval office, with comey, after asking everyone else to leave the room including the attorney general, jeff sessions. >> the white house is denying the report saying it is not a truthful portrayal of the conversation, now many lawmakers are demanding to hear directly from comey. >> we know enough now, enough alleged publicly to bring the director back in open session before our committee with the judiciary committee, but he should come back to the congress and share what he knows in terms of the president's conversations with him on any of the russian investigation. >> some members of congress are accusing the president of obstruction of justice. the republican chair of the house oversight committee is also asking the fbi to turn over all memos and recordings relating to comey's communications with the president. >> should point out, jason chaffetz is outgoing doesn't plan to run for re-election. something that, the day, day 118 of this administration.

>> mr. president. did you share classified intelligence information with the russians? >> thank you very much. >> reporter: later touted his meeting with the russians as a success. >> we had a very, very successful meeting with the foreign minister of russia. our fight is against isis. >> reporter: at issue what the president said when he met with the russian foreign minister and ambassador in the oval office last week. the "washington post" first reported that the president shared highly sensitive classified information about an isis plot to target civilian airplanes with laptop bombs. secret information abc news has learned given to the united states by israeli intelligence. less than two hours after the story broke, the national security adviser emerged from the west wing to shoot it down. the president seemed to confirm he shared sensitive information with the russians. tweeting, as president i wanted to share with russia, at an openly scheduled white house meeting, which i have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. >> did the president share

classified information with the russians in that meeting? >> as i mentioned already. we don't stay what's classified what's not classified. what i will tell you again is that what president shared was wholly appropriate. the story, the story combined what was leaked with other information and then, and then, insinuated about sources and methods. so i wanted to make clear to everybody, that the president in no way, compromised any sources or methods in the course of this conversation. >> reporter: the story is a political nightmare for the trump white house. especially because as a candidate, donald trump made such an issue out of hillary clinton's handling of classified information. >> we can't have someone in the oval office who doesn't understand the meaning of the word confidential or classified. >> reporter: presidents have the authority to declassify anything. the question is why would he share it with an adversary. the white house insists he was soliciting russian help in the fight against isis.

"the post" story saying he was tryi trying. telling the russians, "i get great intel. i have people brief me on great intel every day." the white house is now confirmed that shortly after that meeting with the russians, that a senior official at national security council here at the white house, placed calls to the nsa and the cia, to tell them about what the president had just revealed to the russians. there was enough concern here at the white house about what the president said that those calls were placed to the top intelligence agencies. jonathan karl, abc news, the white house. all right. so what do the russians make of all of this? a kremlin spokesman called the whole thing utter nonsense. he said the story is not being confirmed or denied. meanwhile, the russian ministry spokeswoman advised not to read u.s. newspapers. doing so has not only become harmful, but dangerous, as well. republican members of congress, concern and increasingly so

about the trump administration. speaking at a gala last night, senator john mccain reportedly said the trump scandals have reached, quoting here in his words, watergate size and scale. senate republican leader mitch mcconnell has stood by the president so far but even he sounding frustrated. >> i think it would be helpful to have less drama emanating from the white house. >> do you have concerns about the president's ability to properly handle classified information? >> no. >> quite the pause there. >> meantime, tennessee governor bob corker has been one of the president's top allies but said he would like to see more discipline from the white house. quoting here, they have to figure out a way to come to grips with all that's happening right now. the sixth round of syrian peace talks resume today in switzerland. expectations are low. the various factions are meeting with u.n. negotiators in separate rooms.

the assad regime says talks in kazakhstan, organized by russia and iran are more useful. the geneva talks are a show for the media. the syrian government did take the opportunity to emphatically deny u.s. allegations of mass executions at a prison. the agency says six people were killed and dozens injured. back to this country and breaking news from overnight in wisconsin. one person its dead and dozens injured by a severe storm. a tornado touching down in a mobile home park, 40 miles north of au clairee. destroying dozens of trailers. a second tornado was reported a few hours later, although there was no damage. more storms including some hail are expected throughout the overnight hours. and thousands of customers are without power in that area and schools have been canceled today. there were reports of a dozen tornados in the texas panhandle.

some roofs and siding were torn off. power lines downed. but there are no reports of injuries there. weather damage was much more serious. 50 miles to the east in oklahoma panhandle. at least 40 homes completely destroyed in elk city. and some people were trapped inside homes. and we're told at least one person died. >> and, more severe weather expected in the midwest. illinois, wisconsin, missouri, busy weather day. large hail, damaging winds most likely this afternoon and evening. flooding and even tornadoes are possible, as well as power outages. you can expect travel delays. another strong storm heading into central u.s. tomorrow. former bachelor star chris soules pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal crash. soules arrested in iowa. after rear ending a man in a tractor and then taking off. kenneth moscher later died at the hospital.

two intruders armed with a baseball bat. c.j. holmes with the details. >> reporter: she is the reality star from bravo's "real housewives of new jersey." >> you started vicious lies that can hurt my child. >> reporter: a new reality for dina manzo after surviving a terrifying home invasion over the weekend. investigators say boyfriend david canton were brutally attacked inside their homedale, new jersey, townhouse. the 47-year-old mother of one who lives in california was back in new jersey to celebrate the first holy communion of her god daughter, daughter of former housewives co-star, teresa guidice. police say just before 11:30 p.m. saturday, they were returning home from the celebration when they were attacked by two masked intruders. >> everyone keeps an eye out on everyone else here because it is, it's a small community. >> reporter: canton was struck several times with a baseball bat by one of the assailants. manzo punched multiple times by the other. they were both tied up while the robbers stole cash and jewelry.

"the new york times" first reported the memo part of a paper trail comey wanted to leave behind as evidence of what he called improper influence into his investigation. the white house is disputing the story in a statement." "the president has never asked mr. comey or anyone to end any investigation, including any investigation involving general flynn. this is not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the president and mr. comey." trump said comey was fired because "he wasn't doing a good job." but admitted the fbi investigation into russia played a role. members of congress reacting. house oversight committee chairman jason chaffetz tweeted if the memo exists i need to see it sooner than later. i have mine subpoena pin ready.
