over this farm, and in elk city, oklahoma, in the panhandle, a twister there turning lives upside down. home after home leveled. one bus on its side, these cars at a junk yard piled on top of one another and the storm stretching into the deep south. this tornado caught on camera touching down in mclean, texas. some amazing scenes overnight there and quite a stormy night in the heartland. and there is a political firestorm, in the meantime, in washington. president trump facing allegations of obstruction of justice. >> sources say the president had asked james comey to shut down the fbi investigation into former national security adviser michael flynn. comey reportedly wrote a memo to document that conversation. >> and now lawmakers are demanding to see that memo. they also want to hear directly from comey. abc's janai norman in washington with the latest scandal. >> reporter: back-to-back bombshells shaking up the white house. a day after reports president trump shared highly classified information with top russian

leaders, sources tell abc news president trump suggested former fbi director james comey shut down his investigation into former national security adviser michael flynn. >> in a week full of revelation after revelation, on a day when we thought things couldn't get any worse, they have. >> reporter: a source close to comey tells abc news the day after flynn was fired in february, comey wrote a memo allegedly quoting the president saying, i hope you can let this go. he's a good guy. i hope you can let this go. >> if true, this is yet another disturbing allegation that the president may have engaged in some interference or obstruction of the investigation. >> reporter: "the new york times" first reported the memo saying it was part of a paper trail comey wanted to leave behind as evidence of what he called improper influence on his investigation. the white house is disputing the story saying in a statement, the president has never asked mr. comey or anyone else to end any investigation including any investigation involving general

information to the russians, sir? >> reporter: this new controversy comes hot on the heels of another one. >> mr. president, did you share classified intelligence information with the russians? >> thank you very much. >> reporter: an explosive scoop by "the washington post" that president trump was loose-lipped about highly sensitive intelligence matters at his meeting last week with the russian foreign minister. the president's men now in full damage control mode. >> i stand by my statement that i made yesterday. what i'm saying is really the premise of that article is false. >> we had a very, very successful meeting with the foreign minister of russia. >> reporter: the president's allies not happy. >> i think it would be helpful to have less drama emanating from the white house. >> reporter: the sensitive intelligence the president is accused of sharing has to do with an active isis plot to hide bombs in laptop computers able to avoid detection by airport screening machines. the president's national security adviser h.r. mcmaster denied the story. >> the story that came out

tonight as reported is false. >> reporter: then the president confirmed he shared secrets with the russians in a series of tweets. as president, i wanted to share with russia at an openly scheduled white house meeting which i have the absolute right to do facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety, leaving it to mcmaster to explain his rationale. >> so this was the context of the conversation in which it was wholly appropriate to share what the threat was as a basis for common action and coordination. >> our thanks to david wright there reporting. should mention that some other details are emerging about the intelligence the president is accused of sharing with the russians. >> current and former u.s. officials tell abc news it has put the life of a spy inside isis at risk. that spy was placed there by israel. experts say the real risk isn't just that individual, but future sources of information about plots against the united states. even so, a top israeli official said on twitter overnight that israel's relationship with the

u.s. remains, quote, deep, significant and unprecedented. >> it's been a busy week at the white house. the turkish president was there sparking violent protests in washington. supporters clashed with human rights protesters outside the turkish embassy where the president erdogan had gone after his meeting with president trump. nine people were injured. two arrested. and the army private who gave classified military documents to wikileaks gets out of prison today. chelsea manning served seven years of her 35-year sentence. she was granted clemency by president obama before he left office. the former bradley manning transitioned while he was in that military prison. she said she wanted to expose what she calls the military's what she considers the military's disregard of the effects of war. now, let's take a closer look at today's weather. there's a very strong storm system extending all the way from south texas to minnesota. the strongest cells right now are over nebraska, iowa and wisconsin.

crews with police protection worked through the night in new orleans to remove another confederate era monument. the statue of civil war pgt beauregard has stood there since 1915, the third of four monuments the city plans to remove. georgia conducting its first execution of 2017. the state executed more inmates last year than anywhere else in the u.s. 45-year-old j.w. ledford was convicted of murdering his 73-year-old neighbor in 1992. ledford's lawyers asked for leniency because ledford was only 20 years old at the time and they say his brain was still developing. an investigation is under way in houston after a preschool science experiment went seriously wrong injuring a dozen 3-year-olds. fire officials say it happened outside the school as a teacher

mixed boric acid with methanol to show flames changing colors. the experiment erupted into a fireball. >> it exploded, and some of the little kids got hurt, so they had to go to the hospital because they got burned with fire. >> 11 children were burned and one was trampled in the panic. only one child remains hospitalized this morning and we're told is in good condition. and police in florida have just released this surveillance video from outside a mosque near tampa. watch as the suspect pours accelerant on the sidewalk and then lights it on fire. now, the incident happened in february, but police are now releasing this video hoping it will help find the person involved. the fire was extinguished quickly, but the mosque did sustain some damage. okay, despite some recent highly publicized incidents, airline bumping is no worse than last year. now, through the first three months of this year, u.s. airlines bumped about 1 in every

>> guess where you'll have airport delays possible? you named it and guessed it. minneapolis and salt lake city. a search and rescue mission is under way in the atlantic ocean for a small plane carrying a family. >> the missing plane, a mitsubishi twin engine turboprop was en route to titusville, florida. >> on board was a new york city family, an event planner and her two young sons and the pilot all returning from a mother's day holiday. abc's gio benitez with the latest. >> reporter: mystery over the bermuda triangle. 40-year-old mother jennifer blumin and her two young sons, just 3 and 4, missing along with their 52-year-old pilot and friend nathan ulrich. their small plane disappearing from radar monday afternoon. >> we're doing everything we can. >> reporter: blumin, the boys and ulrich were flying from puerto rico to central florida in a small plane like this leaving puerto rico just after 11:00 a.m. monday. but just three hours into that flight at 24,000 feet, the plane vanishes right over the infamous

bermuda triangle. tuesday afternoon the coast guard finding parts of the plane 15 miles east of eleuthera in the bahamas. but no signs of the four passengers. >> the first thing that investigators will look at, was there a problem with the pressurization in the cabin? did it lose pressurization? >> reporter: gio benitez, abc news, new york. >> and gio will have more on a little later on "good morning america." in the meantime, investigators in georgia are trying to figure out what caused the sudden death of a high school football player. school officials say ninth grader kamari mcgowan was participating in football conditioning drills when a coach pulled him off the field saying the boy looked pale. he was rushed to the hospital, but that's where he was pronounced dead. there's no official cause of death as yet. the school district has launched its own investigation. and police in peoria, arizona, are on the lookout for a car and its driver who circled the parking lot of an rv supply store and then plowed straight through the front door. you see it there. but that's not all.

the driver blazes a $15,000 path of destruction through the store, makes a u-turn and then rams through the store's exit. that store is now offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. >> wow. >> wow. all right, now to some sports. the san antonio spurs clearly missed their star player last night against steph curry and the golden state warriors. >> yeah, curry scored a game high 29 points and the warriors cruise to an easy win. their 136-100 victory gave the warriors a 2-0 lead in the western conference finals. the spurs will hope to have their injured star kawhi leonard back for game three, which is scheduled for saturday in san antonio. and also winning last night, the celtics. they got lucky and came out of the nba's annual lottery with the number one pick in next month's draft. the celtics opened the eastern conference finals, by the way,
