and i think at the eptd of the day, the evidence will show these allegations are untrue. >> and two nurses were also arrested on several charges of molestation and many counts of manufacturing child pornography. if convicted all three could face life in prison. an emotional day in court as sierra lamar's sister testified today. jurors are deciding whether torres will get the death penalty or life in prison for the murder of the morgan hill teenager. today her older sister danielle described their relationship. family members and even a juror wiped away tears during her testimony today. she spoke with abc7 news afterwards and said it was difficult talking about all the things she won't get to do with her sister. developing news from con contra costa county where deputies laid out a long line of

ed making the case of arson. and the suspect could be responsible for dozens more arrest sens around the county? >> reporter: the current charges are connected to 11 car fires from april and may of this year, but investigators say they're looking into at least 30 more fires also from 2017 but farther back that may be connected to this manage. take a look, this is james bishop iii. today the contra costa county da's office charged with him two counts of arson, and one count of possession of ammunition. fire officials say the car fires share several common characteristics, like the use of an accelerant. and many of the cars were parked in driveways. many law enforcement agencies across the county worked together to find bishop. bishop was arrested while driving that suv.

and clayton. but the plan to create a new north gate school district, he worries that his halls could be half empty. >> it would take away about 50% of our student population and about 15 to 20 members of our staff. >> highland is part of the mt. diablo school district, but there's a plan under way that would pull 50% of those students in into a new north gait district. >> concern for my kids. it's their first year at highlands and my son will be starting pre-k, so it's a little bit scary. >> the parents are going to get a choice for the first time ever here. >> bob mill sits on the north site leader of caps. mills says highland's families can stay right where they are. >> they can transfer in, if they prefer. or they can transfer out.

because children have become seriously sick. new numbers show at least 24 students in san jose schools have had to stay home because of the stomach flu. >> it's affected 11 different campuses in the san jose unified school district. >> remember, germs are everywhere. and what's the best way to wash away the germs? >> for a number of students in the south bay, a lesson today on practicing proper hand washing. more than 240 children in the san jose unified school district have become sick with the is stomach flu. principal ron hammond is reminding parents that even once students become symptom free, they need to stay home for 24 hours. >> that support what is they can do or what they shouldn't do.

a san francisco family needs help solving a myster isles for her husband who disappeared on mother's day. chi is an uber driver, his wife is worried that a passenger who left a phone in his car may have gotten him tangled into some kind of trouble. >> he's been missing for four days and the kids call out for him. they call his phone and they ask me when is daddy coming >> san francisco police are having a hard time tacking down chi. in the last hour, uber informed us that it doesn't believe he went missing while he was on the platform. they also said they are working with sfpd on the investigation

and urge anyone with information to call police. a b.a.r.t. official today admits that they are not happy about the emergency station lighting that failed to activate during two major power outages last month. the montgomery street station fell into total darkness in the april 21st blackout in san francisco. a b.a.r.t. passenger took this video from the concourse level. emergency lights were supposed to turn on but they didn't. a similar situation happened at the richmond station on april 27. after a round of test, b.a.r.t. found emergency lighting didn't work at 14 of its stations. >> it's extremely troubling that the lights didn't come on so we want to be transparent with the public that it's unacceptable. >> temporary generators have been installed at those stations until alternate power can be installed. >> meantime, cal train raised

those are windows that have thin coatings. he's using heat lamps lamps laml how energy efficient windows work. >> this is what low e windows are meant to do, they reflect the solar radiation back out. >> reporter: that makes our homes more comfortable and few of us give it much thought. but la that the energy efficient windows are causing damage, and not just to the windows. >> you can see where it's baked into the fencing there. >> reflective sunlight can damage home siding too.
