afternoon. i want you to look at the two train cars that derailed right before 3:00. one of them is actually sitting on the ground right now. now, those two cars were part of a nine-car pleasanton bound train and they fell several feet off of the tracks. officials are currently on the cars right now assessing the damage. b.a.r.t. says 24 people were on board as it left the station and passengers felt the train shudder, shake, violently about 10 times in a row, and then it ground to a stop. no one was hurt, but passengers were alarmed by the smoke. >> there was smoke coming out from the car behind me, and i guess that's the car that started to derail. so, you know, we -- some people walked from that car into our car, and we wanted to get off the train because of the smoke, but the driver said i had can't open the doors. just to walk towards the front of the train. we all walked to the front.

>> reporter: everyone waited together for emergency responders to arrive. you're looking at cell phone video from passengers on another b.a.r.t. train, they were able to see the passengers on that derail train as they left the train car and walked down the tracks back to the daly city station, about a quarter mile away. now b.a.r.t. initially completely shut down service in the area. service has resumed. just one track. so they are suggesting that you add an extra hour of time if you have to pass through the daly city station. now, at this hour, no word on what caused this derailment or when exactly the train will be cleared, but b.a.r.t. officials say they expect all service to be back to normal in time for beta breakers tomorrow morning. tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. police shot and killed a man armed with a gun. roads are closed as investigators continue to piece

together what happened. abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard is live where he's gathered new information, cornell. >> reporter: yeah eric, the shooting left folks who live here pretty shocked. one man just told me this is a very quiet neighborhood, a very unusual circumstance which happened today. police have closed terrega and burgundy drives. the actual house where it happened is about a block from where we are. pleasanton police held a news briefing a short time ago about the officer-involved shooting which left a man dead. they say he approached officers pointing a gun. >> the male walked towards the officers, holding a firearm, and pointing it in their direction. in response, one of our officers fired his duty weapon, hitting the subject. >> reporter: now that police spokesperson said three pleasanton police officers responded to a home on burgundy drive this morning after a 911 call about a family disturbance.

police spokesperson said that when their officers approached the home, the garage door went up and that armed man was standing inside, now at this point, we do not know his name, we do know that none of the officers were hurt. police can't say right now if the man fired his weapon. and it's unclear what kind of family disturbance brought officers to that home in the first place. the alameda county d.a.'s office will conduct a investigation into the shooting. we are told streets around the shooting scene will stay closed for at least several more hours. we're live in pleasanton, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. >> thanks cornell. there are new developments in the case of a missing uber driver in san francisco. police confirmed to abc 7 news they found the mercedes belonging to the bayview district yesterday. the driver disappeared on mother's day and family has not been able to reach him. uber says they do not believe he disappeared while only the job. in concord, man missing

since sunday unresponsive in a car parked near clayton road. there is no investigation of any foul play. the search for missing teenager sierra lamar continued near morgan hill today. she disappeared in march 72012 on her way to school. her body was never found. abc 7 news was near the reserve this morning, as about a dozen volunteers returned a search. they're using information from the trial of lamar's convicted killer antolin garcia torres. new details have emerged about a situation that erupted aboard an american airlines flight and required military jets to escort the plane to hawaii. the fbi office in honolulu says the suspect is a turkish citizen who lives in santa monica. passengers are also praising the flight attendants. the crew used a drink kartd the man to getting to the front of the jet during yesterday's flight from l.a. to honolulu. >> and he's pushing and says you're not coming in here. >> you're not going to open that

was called in to deintervise the line. energy workers took 40 minutes to secure that line. a bomb-sniffing k-9 from the bay area is helping to snuff owl bullies in school across the state. reporter kurt rivera has the story. >> reporter: niner the k-9 is used to sniffing out bombs. but he's taking a spin instead all in the name of eliminating bullying. >> if you see something, and you see somebody out of the ordinary not talking, maybe a little bit down, you guys could step up and be leaders. >> reporter: niner joined two other k-9s part of the sheriff's department one of a kind program called k-9s against bullies. >> we want them to understand and know that they have a voice, and we don't want them to hold their feelings inside if they are being bullied. >> reporter: it all came about by accident, deputies doing a demonstration at a school when a student who was bullied was

riders a premium base on the where they're going. the san francisco chronicle reports the san francisco ride sharing company is now charging extra to certain customers who travel along high demand routs. uber is trying to increase revenue after losing $2.8 billion last year. the company say us the pricing move will create more trips in the city, meaning shorter wait times for riders and drivers. abc 7 news was on board an arrivaling flight at san francisco international airport while crews resurfaced one of sfo's four runways. the airport tells us workers are speeding up the job of repaving runway and with the faster schedule sfo hopes to have the work done by the middle of next month instead of later in the summer. weekend travelers face delays because of the project. have breaking news in southern california, look at this. this is a live picture of a
