live where you live, this is abc 7 news. police reopened a popular park after a discovery this morning, a a man stabbed to death on the jogging trail. thank you for joining us midday. >> runners and dog walkers are stunned to hear about the homicide investigation going on right now. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the normally quiet park with the latest. amy? >> reporter: hi, kristin, this opening, entrance to the park, now open, police left, people are enjoying the park again, but when it was closed down, not only did it disrupt rhythm, but shook their sense of safety. runners, walker, and dogs trying to get to the park this morning

were stopped by the harsh reality of crime scene tape. >> to have something like this is really unusual. it is such a nice place. >> reporter: instead of exercising, neighbors stopped to tell each other the news, that a jogger discovered a body on the trail at 5:30 this morning. police say the man had been stabbed to death. >> oh, that's really scary. i run up here in the mornings often at 6:00 a.m. glad i was not here earlier this morning. >> reporter: police spent the morning looking for clues and marking evidence as they found it. some who use the park found themselves speculating about what could have happened in this usually peaceful place. >> we also have a a lot of night activity up here, so there's a lot of kids that come to play. there's -- or other things -- and we have a lot of homeless people that wander around sometimes, so who knows. >> reporter: some are now questioning if they are safe here. >> i definitely think twice about running up here early in

the morning by myself. >> reporter: police have not released any information about the victim or who they think did this to him. they say it's under investigation. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. san francisco police do not believe that body found in the park is that of a missing uber driver. he's not been seen or heard from since mother's day. police suspect foul play finding the car in the bay view completely stripped and believe they are closer to finding him. the family decided what the next step will be in the search for the father of two. police are naming a person of interest. they want to talk to this man, bob tang. the 48-year-old is a family acquaintance. he was to meet with investigators tuesday, but he never showed up. >> all i can say at this point information developed we believe he fled the country, possibly to cambod cambodia. >> police asked the fbi to track him down. new this morning, the police

asked for the public's help looking for an at-risk missings peern seen tuesday afternoon. police say she left her care facility and has not returned. if you have any information on audrey miles, call the police. police are searching for the person who shot a 9-year-old boy walking his puppy on his birthday. they believe he was not the intended target here. he was walking near east 27th street with his mom, dad, older brother sunday night when hit by a stray bullet. they are reviewing footage and asking witnesses to come forward. a go fund me page soared past the $5,000 goal. it's above $11,000. if you'd like to donate, there's a link on abcnews.com. moments ago, announcing the manchester bomber called his mother before the attack saying

library. check all these out. such a relief for them to receive this because the ones they had before were trashed. a lot of excitement from the little ones here at the school in san jose looking at boxes full of new books. the san jose public library donated 300 books hearing about the huge loss the school suffered this month. >> i was horrified. i was really broken. it really crushed me someone could come in and just take away the safety net for the kids. >> reporter: a vandal destroyed rooms, furniture and windows. the school planned a party that day to promote literacy, but instead, they closed. the san jose public library watched our story on the damage and pitched in to help. they came through. >> it was amazing. they came out yesterday, and they brought us this beautiful gift of books for our children, and the kids were so excited. the big truck pulled up, and the kids, like, all sat down on the

playground to watch the books get carried in, and librarians read stories. it was so wonderful. >> reporter: generosity did wonders for the children, many felt sad and didn't understand why someonemented to hurt their school, but now? >> our school has the most books in the world. >> reporter: people cricketed to a go fund me account for the school, and they yupsed that money to buy a new security system that you see has been installed here. that made the director here feel better because even though a suspect was arrested, they've been released. reporting from san jose, abc 7 news. >> thank you. happening now, crews in san francisco remove a huge tree that fell into a house. this is near delores and 26th street. it's a 40 foot tree, no one hurt. a huge landslide just north

this morning, the tsa looks into accusation that tech executives in the bay area got secret airport codes. the codes apparently gave people access to restricted part of the airport. agency is investigating whether signature flight support gave tech executives who used their jets secret gate codes accessing them to a prooicivate hanger on airport property. they issued a statement, we can confirm there is an ongoing investigation by tsa that they continue to cooperate fully with. we expect a resolution in the near term. signature's top priority is safety and security of all over 200 global locations. officials don't believe there's evidence that clients who have a secret gate code accessed any other part of the airport. congressional candidate on the hot site, but it's not because of the race to the ballot box today. >> that's right. accused of body slamming a reporter. the new calls for an apology this morning, and how the reporter responded. a woman jumps into action

>> reporter: meanwhile, the campaign blames jacobs saying in a a statement the candidate was merely grabbing for the phone he says jacobs pushed in his face, adding, quote, it is unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created the scene at our campaign volunteer barbecue. a fox news reporter in the room at the time setting up to interview him confirms jacobs account of what happened. >> he grabbed him by the neck, both hands, slid him to the side, body slammed him, got on top of him to punch him and yelling at him. >> reporter: it's unclear how this affects the race since about two-thirds of voters in that state have already picked him in early voting ahead of today's election day. republicans would still face major decisions whether or not to seat him. abc 7 news. >> thank you. napa valley ready to rock.
