criticized european leaders for not spending enough on defense. the administration is pledging a supreme court showdown over president trump's travel ban after a federal appeal's court ruled the ban essentially targets the muslim religion. the president's executive order would ban people from six muslim majority countries from entering the u.s. for 90 days and all refugees for 120 days. the decision on the revised ban is the first from a federal appeals court. we're getting our first look at the inmate killed while battling wildfires in humboldt county. prison officials released this picture of matthew beck. the 26-year-old inmate firefighter died when a 120-foot tree uprooted and then fell on him on wednesday. beck was serving a six-year prison sentence for a burglary. according to the department of corrections in rehabilitation, he's the fourth inmate to die in the fireline since the program was created in the 1940s. an electrical transformer is

being blamed for starting a fast-moving grass fire in milpitas. the flames came dangerously close to a home and threatened goats. animals were trapped between a chainlinked fence and a brush fire. the fire blackened six acres. six goats were transported to an animal hospital to receive treatment for burns. longshoremen are back on the job this morning after a walkout. they took this action after the discovery of a noose on the property. it was the second one found in two weeks at that port. trucks sat idle for hours. a statement was issued saying, "we reject in the strongest possible terms racism in all its forms." port officials say they have zero tolerance for racism. an east bay soccer coach has been arrested on suspicion of sexually molesting one of his former female players. victor juarez was taken into

custody yesterday. he molested the 11-year-old girl. investigators are trying to figure out if there are other victims. at the live desk this morning, we have incredible video of a police chase in the los angeles area. i want to get right to it. watch here how the suspects tried to escape officers by ramming through not one but two gates. and that suspect kept driving. police used a series of pit maneuvers to eventually stop them. thankfully, despite all this, no one was hurt. both the driver and passengers got out and surrendered peacefully. it all happened in l.a. last night. the suspects are right now in custody. they allegedly stole the car used in that pursuit. the warriors want to celebrate the third straight trip to the nba finals against the cavs. the warriors are holding a car flag friday. the team wants you to drive

pinson are marking a painful time in their lives. it was a year ago that she was walking to school when witnesses say they saw 18-year-old fernando castro attack her and drag her away screaming. the next day, he died in a shootout with police in santa barbara. >> we don't know where he took her, what he did with her or why he took her. i mean, the question is, why? or where is she? >> i just can't imagine what this is like for them. detectives found traces of pearl's blood in the car but there's been no sign of her. explosive new video of the race to repair the oroville dam before the next season. controlled blasts will take place more frequently as crews race against a november 1st deadline. the bottom of the broken spillway will be taken out and workers expect to pour the concrete for the replacement sometime in mid-june.

there's in new twist in the case of an east bay fruit in san lorenzo. this caused an outcry on social media last month on allegations that the vendor was being racially profiled. now there may have been a victim of human trafficking, forced to sell fruit against his will. he was one of two vendors deputy obtained that day. >> these interactions didn't go really that well but looking at it from a different angle, maybe they didn't go well because these people fear something and maybe they don't necessarily fear the police. >> the sheriff's office says they have contacted the district attorney's office to see if there's a larger network of people being trafficked to the bay area to sell fruit. in today's "gma" first look, they are all the rage. they are called fidget spinners. >> there are dangers that go along with

downtown. he's wearing a white shirt and a hat. he's described as being a latino man between 20 to 30 years old with shaved hair on the sides. police say the other suspect is either asian or latino and in his 20s. he's also wearing a white shirt but you can see he has a mustache, a beard and long ponytail. detectives say on sunday morning a fight broke out outside a sports bar on south and first street. one of these mans pulled out a knife and stabbed san jose student chad miller , a junior from vallejo. he plays safety on the spartans. if you recognize any of those men in that surveillance video, police sure would like to hear from you. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, abc7 news. san francisco police are looking at a car that belongs to a man investigators are calling a person of interest. the man you see on the left is

connecting hazing to 14 members of the school's football team for potential criminal charges related to hazing and assault. one coach was under investigation for failing to report hazing. and there may have been as many as 16 victims. the school district expelled nine students over this case. one was overturned by the school board. manchester police have arrested a ninth man in a terror attack that killed 22 concert goers. we're seeing new images of the suicide bomber salman abedi. he's seen taking out the trash. these are also images of abedi at a shopping mall just three days before the attack, apparently carrying the same backpack he used in the bombing. he spent his final night in a rented apartment two miles from ate reen na abedi called his mother to say forgive me shortly

we're back at 5:45. redwood city police need your help identifying an arsonist before he strikes again. he set a fire on may 13th near flynn avenue and meadow lane. he turns his back and the flames illuminate his long, dark hair. the man set a pair of boots on fire on the sidewalk. the flames charred a cinder block wall. >> i saw the smoke and i go over

there and see that. i see that fire, you know. i take water and put it on there. >> it's a little unnerving when somebody has that kind of mental state to go do something like that. >> he hasn't done a lot of damage so far but he's behaved oddly. he was seen jumping on people's roofs later that same night. call redwood city police if you have info about that fire. we want to show you this video, an explosive fire that gutted a strip mall in van nuys around 10:00 last night. no one was hurt in this. part of the building's roof did cave in. a large air conditioning unit took about 100 firefighters more than an hour to put out the flames. investigators will now look for what sparked the fire once they can go safely inside. the fire crews are watching for flare-ups from a four-alarm fire that raged in the central

valley for hours. this started just after 5:00 this evening at a stockton rail yard. high winds caused the fire to spread quickly. it burned five homes and destroyed one of them. the stockton fire chief says he hasn't seen a fire like this since the oakland hills fire in 1991. we all know how bad that was. evacuations were prompt and only one person was hurt with burns to their arm. at the live desk this morning, we're tracking a manhunt under way right now in southern california following last night's shooting at a riverside county sheriff's deputy. a helicopter rushed the wounded deputy to a trauma center. he's expected to survive. the series of events began with the deputy tried to pull over a driver in coachella. the driver refused to stop and shot the deputy a short time later. some residents couldn't return to their homes because deputies sealed off their neighborhood overnight. other residents were urged to

the tracks in richmond. it happened two weeks ago. the driver of the truck tried to get away but could not. they posted this video warning drivers to be careful and, in fact, two weeks ago amtrak told us it appeared the truck driver was trying to beat the train traveling between bakersfield and oakland. two other trains were stuck because of the crash. if you use any of the seven state-owned toll bridges, you could have money waiting for you. the toll authority is sitting on roughly $1.5 million in refund. that money is a result of uncashed checks and overpayments of fines. if you don't claim your share by july 11th, the authority gets it. people started receiving notifications last month. to find out if you have one of these refund, go to abc7news.com and look for a link. you can take up that extra money and hit up the new water park that opens to the public this weekend. here's a glimpse of what you can expect. our media partners took this
