a good monday morning to you all. we begin with the white house facing new allegations focused on russia and the president's son-in-law. >> yeah, president trump slammed media reports his son-in-law jared kushner tried to establish a secret back channel with russian officials. the president is touting his first overseas trip as a big success. but the german chancellor, angela merkel, walked away from the g7 summit, quoting here, suggesting the relationship between the european union and the u.s. is not as strong as it used to be. >> abc's kenneth moton joins us live from washington. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, diane and kendis. foreign policy to domestic issues, apparently president trump is gearing up for a fight in the russia investigation. we are hearing of a growing group of private attorneys and an experienced pr team to handle the negative headlines. trump white house overhaul on the heels of his first foreign trip as president -- >> i think we hit a home run.

>> reporter: -- president trump back home considering a staff shake-up in the face of the russian investigation hitting close to the oval office and his family. the private attorney one of many trump hired to handle the russia investigation seen talking with ivanka trump at the white house. her husband, presidential adviser jared kushner, under scrutiny but not the target of the fbi investigation. sources say kushner tried to set up a secret back channel with the russian ambassador to the u.s. even after intelligence agencies found russia tried to meddle in the election. >> there ought to be a review of his security clearance to find out whether he was truthful, whether he was candid. if not, then there's no way he can maintain that kind of a clearance. >> reporter: a frustrated president tweeted sunday calling leaks coming out of the white house fabricated lies made up by the fake news media. trump also spoke with "the new york times" also reportedly saying, quote, jared is doing a great job for the country. i have total confidence in him. >> look, i think jared has said that he's more than willing to answer any and all questions. >> reporter: trump's focus his overseas trip calling it a great success for america.

but fresh from the g7 summit, german chancellor angela merkel expressed doubts about the u.s. and the uk. [ speaking german ] >> reporter: telling her country the times when we could completely count on others are over. the chancellor's remarks came after president trump criticized germany's trade policies at the g7. this week expected to be a crucial one for the white house as the president works to control the negative headlines in this investigation into russia. >> a lot of people are saying corey lewandowski's former campaign manager might be part of that shake-up and might be returning to the white house. kenneth, thank you. north korea is sparking concern around the world after defiantly firing another missile. the ninth test this year. >> u.s. officials say this time it appears to be a short-range scud missile. it flew 280 miles before landing in the sea of japan. >> north korea has been trying to develop a long-range missile that could reach the united states. the defense secretary says everyone is threatened.

>> we always assume that with a testing program, they get better with each test. the north korean regime has hundreds of artillery cannons and rocket launchers within range of one of the most densely populated cities on earth, which is the capital of south korea, but the bottom line is it would be a catastrophic war if this turns into combat. if we're not able to resolve the situation through diplomatic means. >> north korea carried out two nuclear tests last year. japan's prime minister condemned this latest launch as an unacceptable provocation. also breaking overnight, police in britain have made yet another arrest in that terror attack at the ariana grande concert in manchester, england. investigators trying to close in on a suspected terror network linked to the manchester suicide bomber, salman abedi, have arrested a 23-year-old man now. authorities confirm 14 suspects remain in custody in connection with that attack.

electronics ban affecting some incoming u.s. flights may be expanded. most larger than a smartphone will be checked. homeland security secretary john kelly says that ban could be expanded to include all international flights to and from the u.s. kelly says the change would help fight potential new bombmaking technologies. and british airways is warning passengers to expect delays after a worldwide computer outage. the company says a power supply problem forced it to cancel all flights out of london's heathrow and gatwick airports on saturday. many systems are back online, but the company is urging passengers not to go to either airport unless they've already been rebooked. some memorial day parades and ceremonies may be canceled because of the weather tracking two systems right now, one in the south dumping rain in louisiana and mississippi. the other one is stretching from eastern ohio straight up into new york city.

investigators in southern california now say this brush fire was started by a weed whacker. about 55 acres burned in los angeles forcing some homes to be evacuated. fire officials say it started when a weed whacker being used near flammable materials overheated. an investigation is under way into what went wrong in a memorial weekend skydiving event that killed a navy s.e.a.l. the sky driver plunged into the

hudson river after his parachute failed. that's his parachute. rescue crews managed to pull him out but he died less than an hour later. the region's naval commander said the s.e.a.l. community has lost a true patriot. police outside jackson arrested a man accused of killing eight people including a sheriff's deputy. investigators say 35-year-old corey godbolt first got into an argument with his estranged wife and her family. they say that set him off and say he then pulled out a gun, opened fire killing three women. the sheriff's deputy you see there had responded. he was killed as well as four other people in two neighboring homes. godbolt in handcuffs after his arrest telling a reporter suicide by cop was his intention but he ran out of bullets. we're learning new details on the stabbings of three good samaritans who came to the aid of a young woman being harassed on a portland train. now police say a suspected white supremacist, 35-year-old jeremy christian, went on an

anti-muslim tirade. when three men stepped in to try to calm him down, that's when christian allegedly stabbed all of them. >> he told us to go back to saudi arabia. he told us that we shouldn't be here and to get out of his country. this white male from the back of us came and he was like, you can't disrespect these young ladies. then they just all started arguing. >> wow. well, two of the victims passed away. the third is in serious condition. police say christian has a known criminal history as well as extremist views. in a new video now, a florida man is facing trespassing charges as this new video appears to show him unplugging a bounce house. police in port st. lucie, florida, say the man unplugged the inflatable while kids were playing inside. the children all under the age of 3 had to be rescued after that bounce house then collapsed. now, the man claims he was actually just trying to unplug the party's sound system. quite a story here. a missing woman in washington state has been found alive after apparently crashing her car days ago.

the time-lapsed video was recorded over 3 1/2 hours. of course, it's similar to the northern lights, just in the southern hemisphere. >> amazing. roads wet in most of the south. here at home with flooded roads along the texas gulf coast. watch out for puddles in the northeast, new england and rockies and northwest. flying on this busy holiday airport delays most likely in houston, atlanta, new york and boston. still no sign of a missing newlywed that vanished during a sailing trip with her new husband over mother's day weekend. >> they were found drifting in the caribbean but the search has been called off for that new mom and the fbi has been called in to help. abc's linzie janis has more. >> reporter: the fbi investigating the mysterious disappearance of florida mother isabella hellman who vanished while on a sailing trip with her husband louis bennett. the newlyweds setting off from cuba the evening of may 14th. but at 1:30 a.m. the coast guard getting a distress signal from the couple's boat off the coast of the bahamas.

>> the catamaran vessel struck an unknown submerged object and began taking on water. >> reporter: three hours later rescuers spot the overturned boat discovering 1,000 yards away in a life raft but no sign of his wife and the mother of their 9-month-old daughter. the coast guard scouring nearly 7,000 square miles of ocean but calling off the search after three days. linzie janis, abc news, new york. >> so far no comment from the fbi. bennett told reporters he was heading to cuba to continue searching for his wife on his own and we'll have a lot more on this story later on "good morning america." a california water park has shut down three of its water slides as it tries to figure out what caused a 10-year-old boy to fly off one of its slides. this video captures the moment the boy went airborne off the three-story waterslide. watch carefully there. he slides onto a hard skid along the pavement. somehow he suffered only some scrapes and bruises in the fall. it happened on the first day the ride was actually open.

a scare, in the meantime, at the zoo in perth, australia. this video captures the moment an orangutan mother climbed out of her enclosure to save her son which had fallen into a garden. the incident prompted a brief evacuation of zoo visitors as you can imagine but mom successfully retrieved her 5-year-old son and returned to her own enclosure. well, a canadian couple has quite the proposal story to tell this morning but not the one they planned. christine peters said yes when her boyfriend popped the question midhot air balloon flight. but then the balloon started descending a little too fast. the pilot said brace for an emergency landing and the balloon crashed into two different trees before finally crashing onto a field. lucky for them the most serious injury was a broken fingernail. the happy couple says the whole experience was, quote, awesome. >> that's one way to put it. mine would be terrifying. >> awesome. from terrifying, awesome to a frightening crash at the indy 500 over the weekend that

today's forecast. they are gusting to 21 at half moon bay, and 35 in fairfield. so it is not going to feel like summer today. you can see from our exploratorium camera. temperatures in the 50s this morning. we will stay in the 50s at the coast. mid to upper 60s around the bay and inland at noon. and then back in the mid-50s to 65 at 7:00. jessica. mike, thank you. right now we are tracking developing news out of santa rosa this morning. police are searching for suspects in a double shooting. the victims were shot when they were walking in a park, and a group approached them and they were found injured several blocks from each other. the police think the shooting is gang related and the victims were specifically targeted. >> jessica, thank you. happening today, the

manufacturer will inspect a new slide after a 10-year-old fell off of the slide. this incredible video, do you see that, he's at the end of the slide and falls out on to the concrete, and he is going to be okay with scrapes and bruises. it happened on opening day to the park called the wave. today the slides' manufacturer will look at the mechanical pump systems. and then honoring our armed services. this year's commemorations will honor the 1 million americans killed while serving in our armed forces and events include a wreath laying ceremony, and a flyover, and a 21-gun salute and barbecue picnic.

arlington national cemetery will be at the heart of the national observance on memorial day. president trump will lay a wreath to the tombs of the unknown today at 8:00. and then a 16th person is identified in connection with the manchester attack, and 14 of the 16 arrested remain in custody. many of them are teenagers, and many of them are teenagers, and they are looking for more members. abedi killed 21 and injured dozens others. and kim jong-un is supervising a launch of what appears to be a
