deadly officer-involved shooting. >> amy hollyfield is live near the scene at orange drive and nut tree road right near the vacaville outlets. amy. >> reporter: hi, jessica. police are still on the scene investigating exactly what happened here. they have not identified the man who was killed here. police say two officers fired their guns here in front of the outlet mall in vacaville, and this started around 12:30 this morning when police ran the plates of the car and determined it had been stolen. as they pursued the car they say he sped up and did not stop. they then did the pit maneuver where they use the front pumpe to tap the car they are chasing to cause it to spin out and that's when the shots erupted. >> we do not know if shots were exchanged between the suspect and the officers. we do know that two of our

watching this deadly crash on east bay 580 near first street earlier this morning, and we are getting new information, we are told three cars were involved shortly before 2:30 this morning. highway patrol says one man was killed after his car stalled in the middle of the freeway and then was hit by two other vehicles. one person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and abc7 news reporter, matt keller, is there, and we will have a live update coming up in the next half hour. san jose police are crediting a man of saving his wife from an attack. police tell our media partner, the "mercury news," the two seniors confronted a homeless woman as she was coming around the back of her house and she hit the victim in the head with a stick and ran off. the victim's husband went after this woman and held her down in the middle of the street until sheriff deputies got there, and the man's wife is going to be okay. take a look here at your screen.

huge flames shot out of a two-story house in sonoma earlier this morning. this is near chestnut and hillcrest avenues. fire broke out about 1:30 this morning and officials say it appears the home is a total loss, as many as six people lived there, and right now they are all looking for another place to stay this morning and the red cross is helping them out. several vehicles were also burned. happening today in dublin, engineers and safety experts planned to look at a brand-new water park to make sure another mishap doesn't happen. hi, jessica. you can see a boy flying off the landing of a slide on saturday. the 10-year-old is recovering at home after suffering scrapes to his back after hitting the concrete. city officials immediately closed two steep water slides and then they closed another one yesterday. state inspectors just approved the slides on friday. >> we just want to make sure that osha has access to the right resources to come to the conclusions they need to come to

this is the latest information coming in this morning, reggie. the coast guard called off a search of a man that jumped into the water for a hat. the man jumped into the water at 5:00 saturday afternoon. friends onboard the vessel tried to help the man out of the water but eventually lost sight of him. volunteers in oakland organizing an event next weekend to repair the gardens at lake merritt. last week vandals knocked over and ripped out plants and damaged the sprinkler and electrical system and took out the front tire of a work vehicle, and in total caused more than $50,000 in damage. the water and power systems have been repaired but there's still a lot of work left to do so you can help out. if you would like to volunteer, the event is next saturday starting at 10:30 in the morning. the foo fighters shot down on an unexpected note.

british airways was a mess this weekend and flights in and out of london should be back to normal this morning. the company experienced a global outage on sunday and it affected the call centers and they are talking about thousands of delays and cancelations and the airline is still telling people you need to check your status

>> reporter: good morning reggie and jessica. this is where the crash took place on 580 at about ago, and the ngood news it has been cleared but the bad news one person was killed in the trash. it happened before 2:30 this morning, the hyundai accent crashed into a wall and ended up disabled in the middle lanes, and then a toyota corolla crashed into it, and then a car crashed into both of those cars. >> the accident was spread throughout the lanes and the car was being held together by a seat belt, and part of the car started to burn, the debris that went over into the center divider. >> reporter: the drivers tried to get the driver of the accent out of his car, but that driver, a man 20 to 30 years old died at the scene.

one other driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. back out to breaking news we are following in vacaville this morning. asuspected shooting of a car theft at the outlet there. >> amy hollyfield is live. >> reporter: we just got new details about the officer that was hurt in this incident. we are telling me now he hurt his knee and he has been released from hospital. can you see behind me where other officers are still here on the scene gathering evidence and trying to figure out what happened here. the officers involved had body cameras and dashboard cameras so hopefully that will show what happened. the shooting happened in front of the outlet mall in vacaville and two officers fired their guns here and the suspect was killed. it started at 12:30 this morning, and officers who were following the car ran the plates and discovered the car had been

stolen. >> they attempted to make a car stop on that stolen vehicle and a pursuit began. the suspect took the i-80 off-ramp at leisure town road and the officers performed a pit maneuver and shortly after that pit maneuver, they indicated over the radio that shots were fired. >> that pit maneuver he is referring to is when they use the front of their car to tap the bumper of the car they are chasing causing it to spin out. police are still working to identify who was killed here and if that person fired a gun or why police felt threatened. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. we are tracking developing news out of santa rosa this morning where police are searching right now for suspects in a double shooting. the victims were shot while walking on a bike path near martin luther king park. a group approached them and somebody opened fire, and police

found the victims seriously injured and they were several blocks away from each other and investigators believe the shoot something gang related and that the victims were targeted. we have developments in the manchester bombing. they have arrested a 23-year-old man this morning and raided two more homes. 14 of the 16 arrests are still in custody and many are teenagers. british officials are still looking for more members of attacker abedi's terror network. north korea fired another short-range ballistic missile and the north released photos of what it says is its leader kim jong-un supervising a launch of what appeared to be a scud muddle. north korea has been conducting more test launches in recent months as part of a program to develop nuclear-tipped missiles

that can reach the u.s. right now at the live desk, a memorial day tradition getting under way in washington d.c. we will have to take a look. vice president mike pence hosting the memorial day bike ride and this is a live look at the event. it's just about to take off. more than 100 cyclists, all veterans, getting ready to embark on a 350-mile ride to virginia beach and raise money and awareness about veterans needs. this is the tenth year for the project hero ride, and in that time it has travelled more than 30,000 miles across 30 states and six different countries. president trump is going to be at arlington national cemetery today, the heart of the national observance on this memorial day. you are looking at a live picture at the tomb of the unknowns and an hour from now the president will lay a wreath there and that will be followed by his first memorial day address.

happening today thousands are expected to honor the bravest in san francisco. it begins in just a few hours. you are looking at video from last year's event. this year will honor the 1 million americans killed while serving in our armed forces, and events include a 21-gun salute, a flyover, marching band and barbecue picnic and there are other memorial day events listed on the website, dozens of worker are looking for new jobs tpofollowi the shutdown of the shipyard. the port of san francisco hopes to find a new operator for the dry dock, pier 70. the facility is closed due to a legal dispute between the companies that operated the shipyard, and there have been plans in the past to transform the site into housing and other uses. firefighters took quick action to stop a carport fire

from spreading to an apartment building. abc7 news was in oakland where the fire damaged cars parked outside the complex. crews kept the flames from reaching neighboring apartments and people living there got evacuated. a woman's car that was burned believes an electrical fire with one of the vehicles ignited the fire. firefighters are watching for flare- ups after this grass fire that forced some evacuations yesterday, and the 55-acre fire broke out on a hillside in brentwood. five homes had to be evacuated for a few hours. officials think right now the fire was started accidentally by a contractor clearing weeds. the warriors will resume practicing today. they are getting ready for the nba finals and their showdown with the cleveland cavaliers. >> they had the day off yesterday, and steph curry and the dubs have been working out since they swept the spurs in the western conference finals and now they are focusing on on

welcome back. the fbi trying to determine this morning if a self proclaimed white supremis will face hate crime charges for a deadly stabbing in portland, oregon. >> they lost their lives because of how me and my friend, we looked. that was the teenager at the center of the attack, the 16-year-old was verbally assaulted by a man on a light rail train on friday in portland. three men stepped into defend her and a friend who were facing racist and anti-muslim slurs. those men were then stabbed. two of the men died and another is still hospitalized. >> he told us to go back to saudi arabia and he told us that we shouldn't be here and to get out of his country. he was just telling us that we basically weren't anything and
