a large orchard hardware supply center. a large portion of this parking lot is. there are at least 10 to 12 freemont police vehicles in the parking lot and this side of the lot is taped off with crime scene tape. we also understand a spokesperson from the police department is on their way to the scene, so we do expect to get a lot more information soon, here's what we know right now, that one person was shot by at least one fremont police officer and that person was taken to the hospital alive. we do not have any information about their condition at this time. but we do know from the fremont police department that no officers were hurt. so mostly what we're waiting to learn is who this person is and exactly what led up to the shooting. and good evening.

>> now to video you'll only see here on abc news. >> the truck came to a rest on park street between web and lincoln avenues in alameda. two people died, four others survived. >> reporter: they're just reopening this street, park street behind me while they are still cleaning up after this accident. we spoke to several witnesses to this crash and they told us this truck was going twice the legal limits before it went airborne and that the victims include children. this service video shows what witnesses describe. a pick-up truck that had been going 50 to 60-mile-per-hour, running red lights through downtown alameda, out of control, flipping down the middle of the road. >> sergio silva heard it from his martial arts studio, just a few yards from where the

trucklanded. >> it was a terrified scene. >> reporter: alameda police say the pickup was carrying six people, one died at the scene, another at the hospital. >> she was really just scared and shaking is and crying. it must have been horrible to see that, definitely. >> the car basically rolled down the street. >> reporter: this man did not want his face shown, he told us he saw the truck in mid flight. >> it looked like would have been of those moving cars just going through the air and just blowing down the street. it's something that you see in the movies but you never think you would see something like that in real life. >> it was horrible, from the boom, the sound, the impact. >> reporter: jesse hill was working at the waffle shop just across the parking lot. she's shaken by what she

and saw. a chemical spill forced the closure of two streets in santa oez a. the city's fire department sent this video of the hazmat team in action. a truck spilled sodium hydrochloride, that happened near the road of pioneer road and pine crest, which were closed for a few hours because of the spill. take a look at all the keys napa police say they found on a suspected car thief. they found the suspect trying car doors this morning. police arrived and arrested 26-year-old joshua arden. if you have lost or had a key stolen recently, let them know, they may have just found it. a lake county man is in custody after allegedly

attacking a man with a machete. he cut an african-american man on the shoulder after yelling racial slurs. he then tried to hide in his apartment refrigerator before being arrested. on the way to jail, hammoned threatened to kill police. it happened not once, but twice. abc7 news reporter melanie woodrow has the story. >> reporter: a los gatos high school senior. it began with this snapchated eoji app. when his prospective date went impressed he had a better idea.

racism. cal osha investigators met with manufacturers and contractors trying to find out why a 10-year-old by hide drove planed off a water slide. yesterday was fixed and reopened. and we talked with some parents who had differing views of the slide where the accident happened. >> i wouldn't have wanted to go down that one anyways. >> i'm not much worried, these kind of accidents do happen, and i'm sure people are taking care of that. >> this is video of the park from saturday, the park's openiopen openiopen opening day, the young man is recovering in the hospital. the water slide is closed until further notice. some people think that a grass fire in the east bay may -- a grass fire burned this morning on steep terrain behind

a home. firefighters say the timing of this fire helped them quickly put it out. >> we're early in the season, the fuels are still wet, you can see the grass still has a lot of green in it. this fire would have happened two, three months from now, we would be in a whole different situation. >> near the fire, crews ran into a woman who said she had been stabbed, but she had no injury. a fire in the north bay bumped a dozen people out of their home. two cats died at the house in sono sonoma. they were able to escape. the flames destroyed the house and six cars. investigators say downed power lines and a leak in the home's gas line made fighting the flames challenging. the stories of sacrifice and valor are at the very heart of memorial day of course. that's why hundreds turned out san jose.

okay? >> reporter: 14,000 veterans rest here. in san jose, david lui, abc7 news. and a special tribute to fallen soldiers at golden state national cemetery. hundreds of people attended the memorial day celebration in san bruno. 50 years ago he died fighting for the u.s. in vietnam. >> he was here and they drafted him. he didn't have to really go. but he wanted to go, because he believed in this country, to defend the country. so he went happily to go to the military. >> the ceremony also honored those who fought in world war i. this is the unitedstates's 100th year of entry in america's first world war. amused some and acngered

host on the radio, showing organizers pulling the plug on the foo fighters. this is the second time a band has been cut off during the bottle rock's entire history, it last happened to the cure back in 2014. tiger woods has now apologized to his fans for a dui arrest, saying alcohol was not involved. it happened at 3:00 a.m. in jupiter, florida. not far from his home. investigators have not said if he tested positive for alcohol or drugs. woods admitted responsibility in a statement. he also said, i want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. what happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. i didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly. regardless of the reason, sports and analysts believe this could

be it for tiger woods's career. >> he's not going to be coming back, unfortunately, barring an absolute miracle, but i think it can be really fascinating, watching him try to become tiger woods again, i just don't see it happening on a major level. it's time to turn to our holiday weather. a little gloomy in some spots. >> the day got off to a little bit of a gloomy start, it is breezy and cooler than average for memorial day, as you might have noticed. we're using concord as our temperature for the week ahead. right around just below average. notice how temperatures start to rise sharply toward the end of the week, and we'll see temps climbing into the upper 80s to near 90 by beginning of next week. things are warming up. here's a look at live doppler 7,

they're not warming up right now. the fog is making its push out in the bay. we have winds at 29 at san carlo, 31 in fairfield, so all around the bay area. but skies are mainly blue for now, we'll get fog and clouds overnight. 74 in gill roy, a half moon bay. it's 70 degrees right now in santa rosa. 72 in fairfield, con cord 69. there's still some folks out there even joying the beach front, under blue skies and it's mild in santa cruz right now, just about as mild as any of our locations are right around the bay. we'll see clouds overnight,

early morning damp spots because there might be some drizzle. we'll have an early june warmup toward the end of the week. low temperature will generally be in the low to mid 50s, and some spotty drizzle mainly near the coastline. we'll see the fog moving inland overnight. midday it will give us sunny skies over the bay and inland with lingering fog over the coast, much like today, us will be breezy again tomorrow as well. we'll see high temperatures ranging from upper 50s at the coa coast, to mainly mid and upper 50s in fremont. we'll break that 80-degree point by midweek, then later in the week, friday, we get that big warmup with high temperatures inland in the mid to upper 80s

by friday. mid to upper 70s on the bay. 60s along the coast. one of the main reasons for that warmup is the clockwise rotation from our southeast, it's going to pull warm air up from the south. the 7-day forecast, partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies, and again, slightly cooler than average for the next two or three days, but friday the warmup begins, and it will be full force over the weekend and we'll see the highs touching the 90-degree mark in some areas. sfo is almost done with run way work.

all right, you're looking now at san francisco airport, where flights were closed all weekend for a repaving project. on saturday flights were delayed an hour and 20 minutes. the seventh and final weekend closure will take place this coming weekend from friday night until monday morning, so be warned. >> we are recognizing a very special anyone on abc7, david lui is celebrating 40 years working in the bay area. >> we're so proud of him.

recapping our breaking news from the top of the hour, police have shot a man near the mowry shopping center.

for the details that led to the shooting, we're waiting for a police department spokesperson to arrive on scene to tell us. officers were following a stolen car and tried to pull it over, there was a short pursuit and officers used their car to bump the suspect's vehicle near the vaccaville one man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and he's been released. a man fought off a burglar attacking his wife. >> tough guy. he managed to hold the suspect until police arrived. this is the story of incredible brave bravery. >> boom, boom, two times. >> reporter: christy describes how she confronted an attacker.

she said that the attacker hit her with a stick. >> i got very bad pain, because she broke my head. >> her husband heard her scream. without hesitating the 82-year-old started fighting the burglar, a woman 32 years younger than he is. >> she hit me. she was like tiger. very strong. and want to run away, i don't let her run away. >> reporter: he says he struggled with the suspect in his backyard, here in the driveway, and then it continued on into the street. >> i catch up to her in here. and she fall down. when i catch her like that, she try go but i don't let her go. my here, my injury. >> reporter: he held the suspect down until sheriff's deputies arrived. they arrested this 50 year for

assault with a deadly weapon, and eldler abuse. >> i am happy my wife is alive. that's the only thing i needed. >> reporter: words from a humble here-. electrify indication is expected to bring faster and more frequent trains on cal train and that is putting more focus on safety along the tracks. the california public utilities commission has listed four cal trains intersections among it's top priorities for elevating the tracks at the burrling game crossing. hundreds of people attended the memorial day celebration in presidio today. young and old politics aside, it's about honoring the fallen.

♪ >> reporter: as the traditional red, white and blue mark the beginning of the memorial day service at the presidio, children were busy showing their appreciation for the men and women buried here. >> these stones are the people that died. >> reporter: for more than a century, the presidio has hosted the event to remember the fallen. americans have been celebrating memorial day for 149 years, the boy scouts come two days earlier to plant all these flags. then families come today to decorate each grave. johnny evans of san francisco laid a rose on each headstone. for her it was a moment of reflection. >> i don't know any of these people, but they gave the ultimate for me to even be able to do this it. so it's emotional. >> reporter: these students from new jersey are from the bay area to visit tech companies, a trip

services. volunteers are needed for the valor games far west next weekend in alameda. the games are a sports competition for veterans with disabilities. events run friday to next monday. the man appointed as special counsel in the russia probe involving the white house offered words of wisdom today to graduating students, robert mueller stressed integrity and honesty during his address. >> you can be smart, aggressive, articulate and be persuasive, but if you are not honest, your reputation is what is lost and a good reputation can never, ever be regained. >> robert mueller was introduced by his grand daughter before speaking at the prep school in las vegas. she was among the graduates.

a tiger has killed a female

zookeeper in what's being called a freak accident. it happened today at the zoo in evening land, about 80 miles north of london. the zookeeper entered an enclosure with her. police evacuated the zoo and at no point did the tiger escape from the enclosure. a woman who survived a deadly train attack in portland, oregon has thanked those who stepped in to save her. she and a friend were on a train when a man started shouting racial slurs at her. the suspect now faces murder charges. >> thank you to the people who put their life on the line for me, because they didn't even know me. and they lost their life because of me and my friend and the way we looked. because without them, we probably would be dead right now.

>> portland's mayor has now called for the cancellation of all events scheduled for june in portland. today is one week since a suicide bomber attacked an ariana grande concert in manchester england. 22 people were killed including mostly teenagers a teenagers a a 8-year-old. today greater manchester police tweeted pictures of the bomber and hope that someone will come forward and help them piece together the days before the bombing. north korea launched a missile which landed in the sea of japan today. it is the ninth missile test by north korea this year. and one has launched every single week that new south
