live where you live, abc 7 news. kidnapping investigation in the south bay. a student said she was held at knife point and forced to drive more than 500 miles. thank you for joining us. >> i'm natasha. the woman found running down a road in oregon. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live with the latest on the mysterious circumstances. matt? >> reporter: kristin, san jose police is the lead agency in this case. we are told she is talking to law enforcement as they try to catch her kidnapper. confusion at san jose state friday. a student's family showed up for graduation, but she was not there. san jose police started an investigation. then at 10:18 that night, a

phone call in oregon. a person reported seeing a frightened woman running down a road. we talked to the coos county sergeant over the phone. >> caller: reported by her she was kidnapped at knife point in her apartment complex in san jose. we were able to get her to safety and to the hospital. >> reporter: investigators say the victim roberted she was forced to drive north in her own car. she also says at some point, he hit her in the face. about eight hours later, they ran out of gas in bandon oregon, and she made a run for it. >> she hid in tall grass next to -- we have seed grass and stuff next to the ocean, was able to hide in an old lumber mill site, and he did not locate her, and he just walked away from there. >> reporter: victim a gave a limited description of her kidnapper. law enforcement does plan on

int interviewing her again this week for more information. live in san jose, abc 7 news. >> thank you. if you rely on bart this morning, there's a chance you were late. there were system wide delays. we spotted an empty escalator at the station in the morning commute. started with a medical emergency at west oakland bart and at 6:45 a.m., a train broke down near west oakland station. trains were down in both directions through the trans bay too. commuters took chances with bart while others improvised. >> my first day back at work, and this happens, so i'm going to uber, taxi, something. >> reporter: bart had tracks cleared this morning, but delays lasted for several hours. this morning, the county coroner identified victims in yesterday's deadly rollover crash as two 17-year-olds. this is video seen only on abc 7 news showing a pickup truck

flipping over several times. there it goes. park street and lincoln avenue. there were seven people inside that truck, two died. the police identified them as 17-year-old rihanna ortega and 17-year-old simon of union city. five others in critical condition. the driver was speeding and running red lights. >> there's been several collisions and quite a few near misses here where this pedestrian crossing is. just people in a hurry to get from one end of the town to the oa other and go past pedestrians, they have a light that's supposed to blink, but it's ignored. >> getting across the street is difficult, even at the best of times because you push the button, lights are on, but nobody stops. >> reporter: some started a campaign called slow down in town to raise awareness about speed limits. a man shot by the police in the city's fourth officer involved shooting in four months yesterday at 4:00 p.m. year

mowry avenue and blacow road. an officer was flagged down after someone spotted a man holding a pipe. there was a confrontation. the witness said the officer yelled for the man to drop what he was carrying. >> i thought he was pulling the taser out, but it was the gun. i said, oh, he shot him three times. >> reporter: the victim was rushed to a nearby trauma center. police have not released the condition. the officer was placed on administrative leave. police say a pipe was found at the scene. president trump's communications director is out today amid talk of a major shakeup at the white house. this morning, abc news learned president trump's personal lawyer is a focus in the russian investigation. here's the latest from washington. >> reporter: president trump is down playing the substance of the russia investigation today tweeting russian officials must be laughing at the u.s. how a lame excuse how the democrats lost the election has taken over fake news, but republican

senator mccain said the russian threat is more than a lame excuse arguing putin is a bigger threat than isis. >> it's the russians who are trying -- who tried to destroy the fundamental democracy, and that is to change the outcome of an american election. >> reporter: they are looking at the president's son-in-law, one of the most powerful members of the administration. allegations that kushner proposed a back channel. >> back channels are normal. is it normal to have a back channel before you become president? the answer to that is no. >> reporter: the president says he has total confidence in jared and despite admonishment of unnamed sources retweeted this today. he did not suggest russian communication channels says all the pr problems leading to a staff shakeup in the west wing. the communications director dubbed his resignation, and former campaign manager was

spotted at the white house with him yesterday. he on fox played coy about joining the team. >> it's an ongoing conversation, and i think that's a fair way to put it. >> reporter: so will a staff shakeup end there? there's also some speculation about white house spokesman sean spicer. he's taking to the podium for the first time in more than two weeks. abc news, washington. details now on the arrest of tiger woods for drivi driving under the influence. fallout conditions as we learn what happened yesterday in florida. jessica castro has the latest. >> reporter: we're now learning more about what happened to the golfer behind the wheel. appears he did not have alcohol in the system when arrested on suspicion of dui. in fact, woods passed a breathalyzer test. new details behind this now infamous mug shot, tiger woods, the golf megastar, arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence early monday morning

in jupiter, florida. >> he's a community member. i think that, you know, we should support him. >> reporter: according to documents, woods was found asleep at the wheel and had to be woken up, alleging the 41-year-old slurred speech and talked slowly. also, that he could not walk a straight line. woods insists alcohol was not involved blaming, quote, unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. this new paperwork shows he blew a 0 on the breathalyzer test. four drugs were listed in the report. solorex, vicodin, torix, and viox. the golf legend once dominated the game, winning 79 pga tour events and 14 majors, but in 2009, a fall from grace. an suv crash outside his home revealed a cheating scandal leading it a very public divorce from his wife and sponsorship losses worth millions.

particularly with urban playgrounds have to look at a structure like this. just makes sense. >> reporter: the school district bought this vertical play structure from a company in the netherlands. he says this is the second one in the u.s. the other one is in boston. kids here at the k-12 center of community of life finally got to test drive it today. from the looks of things, they seem really impressed. >> i love this new play structure. it's pretty fun and pretty scary at the same time, but it's always fun. >> excited they found something different, but i just feel like it's something, like, the school has to get used to it because it's new. >> reporter: there were concerns in the planning process, especially about how the children are a bit unreachable. >> had quite a few skeptics about the project and structure, and people said, well, you sure it's safe? who gets a child out if they refuse to come out. >> reporter: they moved forward, and today, cut the ribbon to

since most of us don't live at 2600 feet, i took time lapse of this morning's sunrise. the only place to see it this morning. there it is from mt. ta mrgs. you see the ebb and flow of the morning marine layer. it's waiting to breakthrough the clouds, and try to warm us today, but it's having a har time. look at sfo, still delays, averaging about an hour right now. partly sunny, breaks in the cloud cover, but the cool breezes keep temperatures cool. we have a little system, chunk of energy offshore, a little moisture with it that's going to come through during the night hours, and drizzle and chance of a couple light showers are possible tonight. warmer highs are on the way, but we have to wait until friday, saturday, sunday, and monday.

gusty today, and double digits, and extreme north bay and south bay, a breeze once again that's going to dominate the forecast. noon to 9:00, the bay into the delta, that's where we have the fastest winds at 24 miles per hour, and 3:00 tomorrow morning, at the coast. you can see a looks choppy on the bay. not too many white caps yet. fastest winds develop in 40 minutes from now. exercising, no temperatures too extreme, just watch the sun. especially if you're going to be out and about for some hours this afternoon. 59 in downtown san francisco. mission is warm at 63. east bay, oakland, 64, breezy afternoon, hayward 66, same in union city, possibly 67 in rich mond, 66 in san mateo. breezy on both sides of the peninsula, but upper 50s in half moon bay. santa rosa at 75, 71, and south
