by several police officers. council members voted 7-1 in favor of the payout to the 19-year-old. she was at the center of a sex scandal that rocked the city's police departmnt. four opd officers were fired. >> i, as a taxpayer, paying their salaries especially when it comes to public safety to protect my children, my daughters and my neighbor's daughters, and for them that commit those actions are absolutely irresponsible. >> her attorney will hold a news conference today to discussion the settlement. her lawsuits against six other police agencies are still pending. and then teaming up with an app called scoop to give you a discount during your commute. and we will explain how this works. amy. >> reporter: reggie, commuters we talked to this morning say maybe other people will try it but they are pretty set in their routines. here's how it works.

oregon deputies found the woman running down a road on friday night and she said a man abducted her in san jose and forced her to drive there. and the student said she escaped when her car ran out of gas and san jose police interviewed her yesterday and they released the statement, during the interview the victim rekapbtd the allegations and stated she fabricated the entire incident. and then a town hall meeting about a recent police shooting. officers responded to a possible home invasion. one suspect fired first and at least one officer fired back. nobody was hit. the meet something being held at the bayview opera house at 6:00 p.m. and it's part of the department's efforts towards transparency. these nine men face charges because of a prostitution ring. they responded to an online ad last month and agreed to meet at

a hotel for sex and when arrived an undercover police officer was waiting for them. at first required lieutenant general michael flynn refused to cooperate with the subpoenas, and now they have narrowed their requests. senators are also looking to question former campaign trump aide, mr. epstein. the president gave his cell phone number to the leaders of canada and mexico, and national security experts say even if mr. trump uses his government-issued cell phone his calls are vulnerable to eavesdropping, particularly from foreign governments. the water park in dublin where a 10-year-old boy was hurt will remain closed at least until over the weekend. cal osha inspectors say they are

and then a new accident coming off the san mateo bridge, westbound 92 on the sa side, the transition ramp to 101, and it's slow through foster city as you approach that accident and more on both of these in the next report. today marks the beginning of a competition to protect the bay area from sea rising levels. landscape architects are going to begin entering today. they are developing restoration ideas and infrastructure upgrades. the teams will be picked in december and ideas will be presented in may and each team will receive $250,000 for the work, and still waiting to hear if they will pick one winner or how that will work out, but in any case, bright minds on the project. new details about the concert being planned for the

you recognize this man police in burlingame want to hear from you. he is accused of taking a package off of a porch. police want to reduce your packages by requiring a signature or have a package delivered to where you work or set up cameras and signs. and wasting taxpayer dollars to fix vehicles because of bad record keeping. according to the city controller, muni spends more than 1,200 to fix pickup trucks and maintenance trucks and other service agencies and other agencies typically spend $800.

battery on a passenger's laptop caught fire in the backpack that was in the cabin of plane, and they had to make an emergency landing in grand rapids, michigan. >> it was scary to see smoke on the plane, and we are at 35,000 feet and all of a sudden he hear an announcement, and we look back, and smoke is coming and we didn't know what was happening ppb. >> i didn't know what to think, basically. >> reporter: the fire was put out before the plane landed around 8:00 p.m. in michigan, and nobody was hurt and no damage to the plane, and passengers report they were at the grand rapids airport for a little less than three hours, and then passengers continued on to san francisco, and that plane took off already and is on its way to florida. matt keller, abc7 news. developing news from afghanistan where a massive

explosion killed at least 80 people in a highly secured diplomatic area of the city. at least 350 others are hurt. the explosion was so powerful, dozens of cars were destroyed or damaged at the blast sight. the bombing was carried out by a suicide bomber driving a car full of explosives. one of the drivers was killed in the blast and four bbc journalists were hurt. some of the foreign ministry workers were also injured. nobody has claimed responsibility so four for the blast. a former marine that caused a square at the florida airport pointed an gun at officers and shouted shoot me. the man is a former marine and the gun turned out to be a replica. happening today the jury in the lamar jury case is beginning

to consider the arguments made by prosecutors and defense attorneys yesterday. the prosecution told jurors, garcia torres should be sentenced to death for kidnapping and killing the morgan hill teen in 2012, and defense attorneys argued torres had a rough life and needs mercy and want a life and then responding to a controversy photo showing griffin holding what looks like his bloody severed head. he hit twitter saying, quote, kathy griffin should be ashamed of herself. here's the photo. we blurred out the fake head. the joke is not funny to the secret service that said it has to investigate all threats against people under its protection, and griffin will likely get a knock on her door from an agent and she apologized in a video last night. >> i sincerely apologize. i'm a comic.

condition. and then these guns were found after two suspects were in custody, but listen to how the entire ordeal unfolded. the officers were on their bikes looking for a man with an outstanding warrant and they spotted him walking with another man and they took off running and the officers followed through a motel, off a second-story balcony and through the room. one of the suspects got caught hiding in the shower fully clothed with the water running. the other escaped through the back but was tackled by the other officer. both suspects face multiple charges and the whole thing sounds exhausting. b.a.r.t. will close down its newest station this weekend so it can work on adding more stations. b.a.r.t. will provide a free bus for passengers. and then there will be two new stations, one in milpitas and one north of san jose. and b.a.r.t. will install new software and then run tests to

make sure it works this weekend. and berkeley could be one of the first cities to ban plastic straws. city council members will take up the idea on tuesday. the ban would affect restaurants and coffee shops. it's aimed at helping the city reach its zero 2020. we use about a billion straws a day. today you are going to get a chance to see and hear from the stars of the golden state warriors and the cavaliers. both teams will hold practices and speak with reporters today at oracle arena. the cavs arrived in the arena yesterday and sky 7 was over there delta airlines charter flight when it arrived at sfo. the cheapest tickets, by the way, for game one going for about $400. the nba is staying local for tomorrow's national anthem.

delay and we are looking at a 20-minute behind schedule for ace 3, and ace train number 5 is running on time. and now breaking news from the decemblive desk. a man was arrested earlier this morning at the trump hotel for having guns in his car and the man arrested is a military veteran that told police he suffered from ptsd and he reportedly stayed at the hotel because he likes trump, and unclear at this point if he posed a threat to anyone, and it's still -- i should say, it's unclear exactly what he wanted to do with the guns. we are still aware that he is under arrest at this point because of having an assault rival and a handgun without a license in washington, d.c. is illegal, so he remains in custody right now. reggie, natasha, back to you. >> thank you. contra costa county making

san leandro right now, and there are so many unique commutes in the bay area, but the county is hoping to get people connected and carpooling and get cars off the road. reporting live in walnut creek, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. do you roll through red lights when making a red turn? one lawmaker is trying to slash the fine if you are caught. injury hill wants to cut the fine from $100 to $35, with added court costs and fees it can jump up to several hundred bucks when you are all said and dunn, and he said rolling right-hand turns act for less than one-tenth of a percent of all crashes every year. the full senate has until friday to vote on it. 6:27. a man who survived being shot in the head five years ago in san francisco is shocked as to why a judge has released the man accused of shooting him. this is a story you will only see on abc7.

coverage. the bill is now before the senate. happening today a coalition of south bay labor groups is going to announce plans for a ballot measure that would force the san jose property members to hire local workers. they say they are upset because some construction projects in san jose that currently don't include a hire local requirement. the grab also plans to release a poll from san jose voters that they say shows overwhelming support for a hire local law. if you want to keep san francisco city open and honest you have until the end of the day to apply for a volunteer position to do just that. residents of san francisco can apply to civil on the civil grand jury, and they are responsible for keeping an eye on the officials, and they are encouraging more women and minorities to serve.
