second. as you know, abc7 news, your home for the nba the conviction of three jail guards for the death of an inmate sends a strong message that nobody is above the law. a jury found the three guilty of second-degree murder in the beating death of a mentally ill inmate. michael tiery died with injuries, and everybody is entitled to be treated like a human being regardless of their circumstances. >> law enforcement officers, we will hold them accountable and there will be justice, and there is justice in this case. >> the guards' families h comment and quickly left the

courthouse. san francisco police released dramatic body camera videos in the officer-involved shooting in the bayview district. >> watch out! watch out! >> may 21st near kau saweda avenue. one officer fired back. nobody was hit. police released the body camera from three responding officers during a community meeting yesterday. details on the deadly balcony collapse in berkeley nearly two years ago. experts studied why the balcony gave way when 13 people were on it, and six people died and seven people got hurt, and the report says more water resistant plywood should have been used.

scene. amy. >> reporter: it's impacting homes. look at this one behind me here in belmont. you can see the water and the mud filling the driveway here. you can also hear it rushing down the hillside, which is right behind this home and that's why the fire department has evacuated a couple of the homes here just in case. at this point we have not heard of any damage to homes and water entering the houses but that's what the fire department is worried about and that's why they made evacuations here. we are just arriving on the scene and so is the water department that is working to shut down the water mains so they can stop the flow of water. we will have much more for you at 5:00. reporting live in belmont, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> a bad way to wake up. thank you, amy. big upgrades to the mineta airport. it's getting two new federal grants totaling $1.2 million.

it's going for safety equipment, like a generator and a vehicle for firefighting. last year the airport received $15 million for infrastructure and security upgrades. and then a staggering $365,000 in combined overtime last year for three b.a.r.t. workers. each was assigned to clean stations in downtown san francisco. b.a.r.t. says they implemented a no-over time policy and hiring freeze for janitors. california can continue to collect a $5 fee on gun sales. money is intended to identify and track down those that have weapons where their license has been revoked. the bay area's largest city

is seeking help from autonomous automakers to help make streets safer and less congested. here's abc7 news reporter, david louie. >> reporter: by this fall, they could test how autonomous vehicles could improve safety and break the bottle necks drivers curse. >> we could see that it improves safety, and not be a beta test. we want to improve the quality of life for the city. >> reporter: they want two roundtable meetings held earlier this year brainstorming about better ways to link passengers to the mineta san jose airport. self driving cars could be cheaper than a light rain link.

its effort to protect pot smokers from federal marijuana laws. a bill approved by the state assembly would bar police from helping federal drug agents from arresting people using marijuana illegally. the trump administration has threatened to resume enforcement of the law and the bill is going to head to the state senate. toyota recalling 32,000 tacoma pickups in the u.s. because they could stall. toyota has not said if there have been any reported injuries or accidents related to the defect and the company will mail recall notices next month and fix the problem for free. a young girl from the central valley coming home with a national title. >> m-a-r-o-c-a-i-n. >> that is correct. congratulations! >> that is 12-year-old ananya
