towards napa and benicia and fairfield and vacaville. it's slowly sinking to the south and we are going to see more green over the next couple of hours than yellows and oranges. a camera had a shower roll through in the east bay hills, so it gives you an idea of how patchy it is on the leading edge of the wet weather. going from a rainy 7:00 to light showers at noon to mainly dry at 4:00 to even seeing sunshine before the sunsets at 8:50. and low to mid-70s for the rest of us, and 80s at the coast. she's back and has your traffic. we have been fairly quiet so far as well, mike. we have a brushfire bay on northbound it could be closer to 280, and we have one right lane down to a fire response, and that's off to the shoulder but we have one

lane blocked. i will keep an eye on it, but we will have a little backup if you are about to head out the door. we will have soggy conditions and we'll talk more about that coming up next. all eyes on capitol hill this morning for one of the most highly anticipated hear tphings year. >> and comey, we will for him to leave to go to capitol hill. they are trying to get to the bottom between the alleged connection and the kremlin and trump's campaign. comey will talk about his interactions with the president and we saw a preview of his remarks yesterday and comey outlining a series of uncomfortable interactions with president trump, saying he pressed him to stopper suing the investigation into former national security adviser, michael flynn. dan abrams say even with comey's account, there is no smoking gun. >> anybody in federal law

and temperatures around the state today going to be 68 in sacramento, and then 88, showers and possible showers in tahoe today and 58. 72 in l.a., and 103 in palm springs. as far as the weekend, a chance of showers on friday and saturday sunshine, and then snow at the highest elevations up in the sierra for sunday. and at home, get ready for temperatures in the 60s and 70s. we'll take a look at a and how much rain to expect coming up. and then trying to get out of tracy and head towards the try valley here this morning, we have a disabled vehicle slowing you down, right at the connecter, we have a disabled vehicle blocking the far left lane right now and it does have its hazards on, and chp knows its hazards on, and chp knows about it, so expect delays.

we're back at 5:14. sometimes if you put your mind to something, sometimes it doesn't always pay off. somebody drove up to a atm with a backhoe and tried to break into the atm, and it did not work but it's fun to watch it unfold on camera, and this is from prince county, maryland. and the atm was crushed but never got any money out of it, and instead caused $10,000 worth of damage to the machine. new video in san leandro after a gas station clerk was shot and robbed. that clerk is in critical condition this morning and the shooter still on the run. it happened on washington avenue at the chevron on sunday, and police are releasing information and hoping somebody would come forward. new developments about the woman accused of putting meth in a 2-year-old's mouth. there are new reports she

assaulted an alameda sheriff deputy. she will be arraigned in court today. we obtained a complaint and probable causes documents on her. on monday afternoon she said she shoved a tootsie roll in a toddler's mouth. thomas was a total stranger and that toddler is now recovering. she is facing attempted murder charges and no word on the charges related to the assault on the deputy. breaking news out of eastern kwrao europe in ukraine, and an explosion went off on the front lawn of the u.s. embassy, and they say they don't think it was an act of terrorism and police have not said what type of device went off.

back to you. disaster training exercise called operation sea sick will continue in alameda yesterday. several agents practiced how they would respond to different emergencies happening at the same time. pretend shooting victims laid on the ground and fake smoke was in the air, and it active shooter situation and a hazardous chemical release. and then artistic inspiration. >> yeah, hats, he paints them at the starbucks and sells his autographed hats and gives much of the proceeds to charities that helps inner city kids, sports and art programs. >> a lot of people won't even wear my hats, and they say, i am not wearing that. i am, like, you have to wear the hat. what if it gets dirty? wash it. >> he puts so much of his soul

wet there, and then the leading edge of some of the lighter showers, along 24 from lafayette all the way into oakland, and you can see highway 4 from concord towards pittsburgh, and let me put it into motion, the whole system sinking to the south and the yellow become ing less and less prevalent. you can see down and around the san mateo bridge, possibly the dumbarton bridge, sprinkles to a light shower, that's the leading edge of it. as we go to the leading edge, maybe a light shower in the south bay. already starting to see a breakup as we head towards noon in the form of some scattered showers, not a solid steady line of light rain like we are seeing this morning. by 4:00, an evening commute, and then look how things dry rapidly as we head towards sunset around 8:30. here's a look at the accuweather 7-day forecast. cool weather again tomorrow. that front, while it will bring

a slight chance of wet weather to the north bay on saturday, it will bring cooler weather to all of us and keep us cooler through sunday, and then monday back to average and warmer on tuesday and wednesday. so far no major issues. that's good. everybody taking it easy so far. the only blocking thing we had was in the south bay and that definitely was not rain related, it was brushfire. northbound 87 before almaden expressway, and looks like the backup we had has cleared in the last few minutes so we are back in the green. speaking of rain, a look outside in san rafael on 101, the traffic on the right-hand side of your screen. you will probably have to flip the wipers on but not a washout at the moment, but we know we have wet pavement. southbound 680, walnut creek to dublin, 14 minutes.

weather, shall we? let's go ahead and move on. you can see on interstate 80 from san francisco up to possibly hercules and then out to walnut creek and highway 4 to about pittsburg, and down towards the san mateo bridge, you have scattered light showers. nothing measurable here in san francisco, and we have had a few light sprinkles. the 12-hour day planner, mid-50s to 60. we will stay in the 50s at the coast, and mid to upper 60s around the bay. scattered showers by noon, and by 4:00, the events isolated to over. taking a look at the roads this morning i did see a few drops a few minutes ago at the bay bridge toll plaza, and it's possible you might have to flip the wipers on a couple times this morning. and then the metering lights on as of 5:23, and nothing out of the ordinary but starting to get a little more congested.

a quick check of drive times, tracy to dublin, up to 52 minutes in the red and still have the stall blocking the left lane westbound 205 right at the interchan interchange, so that's a bad spot. and antioch to concord, 18 minutes, and san rafael to san francisco, in the green in 17 minutes. in just 90 minutes former fbi director james comey will testify to congress about his conversations with trump in the weeks before the president fired weeks before the president fired him. >> >> reporter: people are geared up about this testimony, and having heard the written testimony, what comey has prepared in advance, and there's already a differentering opinion, the members of the administration are crowing with victory and vindication but

5:46. the arraignment for the man police say is responsible for the deaths in the ghost ship. he faces 36 charges of involuntary manslaughter for the december fire. this is video you will only see here on abc7 news in a courtroom on monday after his arrest and he's now at the alameda jail in dublin. he and his partner were intentionally deceptive about what was going on inside the warehouse before the fire. authorities arrested harris in los angeles on monday and he organized the concert that took place the night of the fire. take a look at this video.

it literally takes you literally inside a firefight in oakland. it was taken by firefighters when they were inside a home battling a fire yesterday near 59th street and martin luther king jr. way. thankfully nobody was hurt and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. the university of california could end up spending more than $200,000 to look into an independent investigation into a recent state audit. according to the mer"mercury ne" the audit accuses napolitano of hiding millions in a secret fund. and tampering with a survey sent to campuses. they are trying to determine if there was interference and if so who was behind it. >> school officials are hoping they increased their
