live where you live, this is abc 7 news. there it is! golden state, the great playoff runs of all time is complete. >> how sweet it is! the warriors get redemption, reven revenge, reward against the cleveland cavaliers to bring the n bah title back to the bay area. >> now the countdown is on to a massive celebration in oakland less than 48 hours away. thank you for joining us today. >> perhaps it was said best that the warriors team is going down in history as one of the best ever. a high accolade, but well-deserved. after they captured a second title in three seasons, the win was an impressive team effort

with monster performances. >> last night was the first time a bay area team clenched a championship in front of the home crowd since 1974. plenty of fanfare greeted fans ready to celebrate. oracle arena had a confetti drop in center court and outside fireworks shot off from the roof. fans poured out of the arena cheering and dancing. a lot of dancing. the fans had been anticipating the moment since last year's final. >> some dancing probaby still going on. if you want championship warriors gear, you are too late for the most popular items. >> the number of people left before the game was over to line up for the merchandise. we are live in san jose. matt? >> reporter: yeah, reggie, the most popular items are gone including all the championship hats. that's why i have a warriors hat that's 20 years too young for me to wear now, but fans, young and

old, are here shopping for the championship gear, and, yes, it is a day to celebrate so what better way to say that you are a warriors fan than with a championship t-shirt? the enthusiasm for the warriors only grew the morning after the team won the nba championship. >> warriors! >> reporter: fans waited outside dick's sporting goods in san jose at 4:30 this morning including pat. >> you're to be at work at 5:00 a.m.? >> shhhh. >> your boss will for give you? get him a hat or something? >> i'll work on it. >> reporter: the store opened at 6:00 a.m., a a table full of nba championship t-shirts in different colors and styles waited for them with sales associates ready at the register. fans grabbed as much as they could for loved ones who were probably sleeping at home. who are you buying for? >> for me, for her, for my

daughter, my stepdaughter, my stepson -- >> reporter: can i join your family? >> for you. >> reporter: the hats are the prized possessions, but the most popular ones sell out fast. this is a picture of a resident wearing the new era champions hat grabbed at the freemont dick's store before it was sold out. they were sold out in san jose as well. the adidas hats were not moving as fast, but they had a chance to proclaim their allegiance to the new champions as they headed out. >> how does it fit? >> great. >> how's it feel? >> amazing. >> reporter: all right. i put on the 2015 championship hat. as far as the price goes, how much do they cost? they range from $24-$34. the hats are $32 and $3$3 when back in stock. they don't know when they will

be in stock. they hope for a shipment today. matt keller, abc 7 news. >> a women's small, please, in black. thank you. >> oh, he's looking. >> thank you! >> matt is looking for you. >> okay, thank you, matt. the piece of gear warriors eyed all season long was on display this morning at oracle arena. we were at the team store for an up close look at the larry o'brian trophy this morning. >> fits the theme for the finals, all everything. the trophy was taken before the store was open at 8:00 a.m., but you can see it at the parade thursday. planning is underway for the parade through oakland. the city's police chief spoke with abc 7 news about the department's game plan for thursday. >> we're going to keep you safe. we want people to be responsible. we want people to be watching out for one another. to be mindful. we are doing the same thing. we are very much mindful and prepared for the worst and expecting all the best.

>> to make it the best, abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live in oakland with the second parade in three years, amy? >> reporter: good morning, they wasted no time here. look at the champion banners that went up this morning. these were up before the players were this morning. this signals that it is time to plan for a parade and a party. the morning after the big win means time to think about parade barricades and begging. >> i'm going to try to see my boss today and ask for the day off. >> reporter: bosses were generous in the last parade as 1 million people celebrated the win. those who remember the day say it's worth trying to take the day off. >> i went to the parade two years ago, and it was one of the most fabulous things i've been to in oakland. it was just so -- there was such positive energy, and it was well-organized, and it was just thrilling to be there. >> reporter: the parade starts

on broadway at 11th street, and then a rally, and businesses along the route expect huge crowds. >> it will be record-breaking, i'm sure. >> reporter: the manager at the awaken cafe on broadway plans to order extra everything to feed parade goers. he doesn't think he'll notice when the star players pass by. >> will be heads down on the grindstone. it's going to be a line out the door likely. it will be a fun day. >> reporter: the city plans to start the parade at 10:00 thursday morning. they think the rally gets underway here at 12:15. officials say pick one. the crowds will be too big and difficult to move from one event to the other. live in oakland, abc 7 news. >> sounds like sound advice. thank you, amy. >> a a closer look at the route following the same route from 2015, broadway and 11th to grand avenue, makes a right on grand, right on harrison, left on 19th,

continues on lakeside drive to oak and eventually to the convention center. you watched the warriors become champions here on ab chiropractic 7, and see the victory celebration at the same place. abc 7 news has live coverage all morning thursday called a dub nation celebration. one person who will definitely enjoy the parade, first year warrior and finals mvp kevin durant. >> your bill russell 2017 finals mvp, kevin durant. [ cheers and applause ] >> was there anyone else? he led the team throughout the series scoring more than 30 points in each game. he said his teammates already made him a better player. >> to have teammates that encourage you, lift you up, that's what we all need in life, you know what i mean? it's amazing to just see that all year. i'm happy for him. you got to call kevin durant a champ you. he put the time in. just so happy for him to be able

to realize this goal and be my teammate. >> and head coach said he's happy durant broke through and believes there's much more to come from him. he celebrated with his mom, calling her the real mvp. they had app emotional moment at half court. she kissed him on the cheek and said she's proud of him. when accepting the finals mvp award, he said to mom, we did it. i told you at 8 years old. he said, we did it. she said, fine, let's get to work. >> didn't take long for warriors to pop the champagne. the locker room celebration, in ski goggles and best dance moves. from there, they went to the bay at harlow nightclub in san francisco. these were shared with us. curry celebrating with his wife, andre, livingston, and steve

curry. they toasted with $150,000$150,0 bubbly. >> police said it was a peaceful celebration other than side shows like this one. police tell us officers detained about 100 cars and issued more than 40 citations. officers had less than six arrests city wide last night and looking into whether they were connected to the warriors celebration. warriors set the record straight about a story stirring on social media all morning long. it was said the team unanimously decided not to visit the white house for the traditional victory celebration, but according to the team, they said that's not true. we have not received an invitation from the white house and will make those decisions when, and if necessary. there were so many amazing moments that imprint eed heavil on social media to the jokes that the team has little talent

as much as good coaching. jessica castro has the most buzzed about highlights. jessica? >> reporter: after all is said and done, the number one most talked about moment of game five was, you guessed it, right here, the last game, game five, clenching the title. social media buzzed throughout the game people talking about the warriors' win all over the globe. about last night, this picture from the warriors twitter account says it all. even if you're not a basketball fan, there was no escaping the biggest social media headline in the last 24 hours. our golden state warriors are nba champs with 38 million people on facebook interargument i interacting 209 times in the finals this year. the top five countries talking about the series, number one, no surprise, the united states, but in second place, the philippines, and then brazil, mexico, and the dominican
