5:00 a.m., and welcome to thursday, june 15th. we're glad you are here. >> and we are glad so many of you will be celebrating the warriors today, and we will have live coverage once the parade kicks off and team coverage this morning as well, but first we have to get to the weather. i hear it's going to be great. >> it's going to be so fantastic, guys. so much warmth on our way, and temperatures will quickly rise once the sun gets up in 47 minutes. we have the all clear. outside we go. beautiful sides from the east bay hills camera. great visibility right now, no

fog from this vantage point. the sunshine will be in full force in a few minutes. total sunshine throughout the afternoon and look what that is going to do to the temperatures, low 90s inland, and the bay, a lot of 80s will be popping up and along the coast mild for this time of year and will be headed into the mid-60s. weather not an issue, and let's get a check of the roadways with alexis. we have a sigalert in the south bay and doesn't look like its causing major delays yet, and we have word from chp, a crash and a tree down. southbound 880 before you get to alameda, we have the far right lane blocked right now, no backup yet but i will keep a close eye on that. hopefully they will clear that before we see any delay. and everybody else looking light this morning. we know that's going to change in a few hours, and highway 4 to the maze, 16 minutes, and san francisco to sfo, you are in the green at just nine minutes. major changes to both streets,

the ups center in san francisco and the site of yesterday's shooting. people have been posting signs to show their support for the drivers as they return to work this morning. one sign reads our thoughts are with you, big brown. others are dropping off flowers overnight after an employee open fire on his coworkers killing three. counsellors will be on hand as the drivers go back to the center and the city's neighborhood this morning. two employees who were shot have been treated and released from the hospital. reggie and natasha, back to you. >> thank you. we know the names of those ups employees that lost their lives in the horrible shooting. >> the medical examiner releasing those names last night. >> the gunman has been identified as a san francisco resident names jimmy lam. he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and he open fire

at workers at a morning meeting. investigators are still looking for a motive. they don't believe this was an act of terror. we mentioned the name michael pheny being called a gentle giant. the father of five just se celebrated his seventh wedding anniversary. >> 46-year-old mike lafitty was a father that just celebrated his wedding anniversary, and his cousin watched as first responders tried to recess tate him. >> i got to touch him. couldn't hug him. >> his coworkers are grieving. >> just trying to do their job to support their family, and -- and now they don't get to do that just because one guy

couldn't handle it. >> many people stopped by the vigil at the diamond heights safeway which was on his route, and they signed a poster burg that said rest in giant. >> he was the nicest guy any of us knew. >> you always think you are going to see somebody tomorrow and you never know when their time is going to come. >> one of several victims taken too soon. in san francisco, melanie woodrow, abc7 news. >> investigators are not sure if jimmy lam targeted his victims or were shooting at random. he lived in the richmond district on 4th avenue near geary, and neighborhoods did not know him by name but said he stood out because of his uniform and they had seen him smoking cigarettes, or hanging out by his car. >> didn't seem like he was

and so later on this afternoon nothing but sunshine. warm temperatures. 90 in concord. going to 84 in san jose. 78, that high in oakland. and 74 mild degrees in san francisco and napa up to 88 degrees. and the merkley will continue to rise on friday and it's for that fact we will have an excessive heat watch go into effect for the majority of the region starting on friday, and only exception along the immediate coastline. the heat is on the rise especially over the weekend, father's day, we are go into the triple digits inland and even around the immediate bay, and we are going to be sizzling in the low 90s. and let's get a check of traffic with alexis. so far so good on the roads. give it about ten or 15 more minutes and we will start to see the bay bridge toll plaza fill in, but for now you are cruising through and no significant problems to talk about at the moment. later today, it's going to be a different story. if you were riding

we briefly had a sigalert on southbound 880 before the alameda, it sounds like a tree fell on the vehicle and then the vehicle crashed and caught fire and all that has been pushed off to the shoulder now and we never did see much of a backup there so that's good news. quick check of drive times. ramping up out of the central valley, tracy to dublin, 40 minutes, and southbound 101 san rafael to san francisco, wide open at 15 minutes as well. b.a.r.t. already saying that commute is starting to ramp up. i will tell you what they said coming up in a few minutes. look at the case of road rage caught on camera in southern california. it shows a woman holding on for dear life as she is being dragged by the driver of a black honda. the man that shot this video tells our sister station kabc that a woman ran over to the honda and started pounding on the car's window. the woman eventually let go of the car and started walking on

the freeway. now, we don't think that anybody was seriously hurt here and no word on what led up to the dangerous confrontation. the san francisco board of supervisors will meet on a ban of flavored tobacco. there was strong pushback coming from small business owners. it would prohibit from to sell some and then removing fuel from a barge, it sank ain april. plans are remove -- plans for removing the barge itself are in place. facebook seems to be getting in on the tv action. according to the merkley necurn"

use 19th or 12th street stations and lake merritt could be skipped once we have capacity issues and free parking at the coliseum lots the a and b, and that goes from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and hopefully that will allow you enough time to leave after all the festivities at the south end of lake merritt. and ac transit, 21 bus lines will be detoured and rerouted because of the street closures and will have a temporary transit set up at castro street and a lot of ambassadors downtown to help you through this today. and we have off-ramps closed for 880, and this is starting at 7:00. oakland -- oak street, jackson and broadway, that's starting at 7:00 a.m., and all the surface streets will close then as well. we will take a look at the current road conditions coming up in just a few. we will have live coverage of today's victory parade and we are calling it dub nation celebration. and the parade starts at 10:00

a shooting survivor is praising two u.s. capitol officers for saving lives. >> cell phone video captured the moment gunfire erupt the yesterday morning. two officers returned fire and killed the gunman. steve scalise remains in critical condition this morning, and a congressional aide was among the four shot and he spoke about his ordeal this morning. >> i'm okay. the leg is going to be okay. the bullet went clean through and i'm honestly blessed to be alive. it was a very scary moment but without the agents it will have been worse.

? >> can you see that whole interview coming up on "good morning america" right after "abc7 mornings." new safety concerns being raised about the homeless encampments in san jose. they are north of the old jungle homeless camp. >> a member of downtown streets team who was involved in trying to pick up litter was threatened by somebody with a knife. and there's another incident a couple days prior, i believe, that one of the rangers was threatened with an assault by somebody in an unlawful encampment. >> sometimes they are say they are called out three to five times a day for fires, and one person has been arrested for arson. arson. and norman charged with assault.

he assaulted a 5-year-old at motels when she was between 11 and 16. he owns the ny learning center that provids therapy for developmentally challenged children. and then making it easier to buy homes along the peninsula. it pays half of a 20% down payment for educators, and our media partner reports the donation will help teachers in three school districts in the redwood school area. warriors draymond green went to l.a. last night ahead of today's parade because he was on jimmy kimm "jimmy kimmel live!" he asked about the championship two years ago. >> we wrote a whole song about the cavs.
