of the niko lounge. >> i couldn't hear. but i knew it was on bad terms and then just got shot twice and fell and it was done. so it was -- he was fighting for his life. >> police served a search warrant for the suspect in oakley but he wasn't home instead they arrested the 27-year-old map later during a traffic accident. meanwhile friends tell us the victim is 42-year-old rob natural who often worked as a security guard at the bar. a car fire slowed freeway traffic for a while in emeryville. look at these pictures from yesterday. a car going westbound on i-80 burst into flames around 9:45 near pal street and all of the occupants were able to get out but one lane was shut down while the fire department attended to that fire. the temporary head of the

sfpd watch dog agency has stepped down amid allegations of sexual harassment. the interim director was there for a month and there was an incident that allegedly occurred in 2014 so beginning monday eric baltazar is the new interim director. time to look at how much money marin county has in the coffers and how it will effect you. they hope to pass a $555 million budget proposal and one time expenses include $3 million for road and storm damage repairs and $1.6 for the station and would be an increase over the current budget. the little red scooters you've seen zipping around san francisco may soon be allowed to park in neighborhoods for as

long as they want. scoot is a shared scooter program with over 700 vehicles in the city. and prior to 2015 the scooters would be ticketed by the city even if no one rented them. but this new deal would allow the scooters an exemption from residential parking permit time limits and the mta will look at the issue on tuesday. and steve scalise continuing to recover from being shot on wednesday at a congressional baseball practice in virginia. doctors have upgraded his condition from critical to serious. a entertainment posted to the louisiana republican twitter feed yesterday said he is more responsive and speaking with loved ones. the account also stated scalise was watching baseball and rooting hard for lsu, his alma mater. a sad ending to the search for seven missing sailors and now the search and mission rescue searches for what went

nearby grown ups. >> he's under water and i don't think -- i could take care of the people you don't know. even though you don't know them. >> colby's mother who is a registered nurse began cpr and the boy is now recovering. first responders called the pair heroes. another day for the pool today. but of course, the beach is a good idea as well. here is live doppler 7 where we're looking at fog-free conditions but with a nice on-shore flow in the 50s at the shoreline. a look at mt. tam where it is another hot one today. warmer than yesterday. 64 already in san francisco. 68 in oakland. 69 mountainview. san jose 2i67 and 63 in gilroy and sfo warmer today. coming up from two to five degrees most likely. and mid-60s. fairfield 69.

concord and livermore in the 70s. so yes, we're warmer this morning from the golden gate bridge. a bit of a breeze and nothing but sunshine. so spare the air alert today. that is probably no surprise. records are possible. and triple-digit heat all week long. it looks like inland you will see a bit of a break on friday. the rest of us, a little more fog and a stronger on shore flow and a couple of day this is week it will help us out and today poor air quality and once again you will feel it this afternoon and try to take it easy. here is a look at some of the temperatures today. one of six and antioch, we're going up in san jose by a degree and oakland about five degrees and san francisco at 80 degrees. so yes, we are up as much -- almost 20 degrees from where we should be in the inland valley. so at the beach today, notice the 70s. in the 60s yesterday. '87 in santa cruz.

half moon bay, as soon as the sun comes up, probably see folks headed over to the shoreline. so should be a nice day there but very crowded no doubt. 100 in san jose today and los gatos. 97 in sunnyvale. it hurts to say the temperatures. 95 in redwood city and palo alto and in the city it is warmer today. 80 degrees. and in the north bay, ouch, right, 101 santa rosa and near the east bay boy, an a's game today and it is going to be a warm one with 90 in oakland. 92 in union city. you head inland, well these numbers will fluctuate just a tiny bit but overall throughout the week, it is just going to be so warm here. in fact, dangerously warm. overnight tonight, we'll see numbers drop back into the 60s and you download our accuweather app and you could track the coastal fog, the sea breeze and the subtle differences as we get

music royal couples welcomed new twin this is week at ucla medical center and when they gave birth and the genders have not yet been revealed. the new bundles of joy joined blue ivy who made a big splash when she was born. and we're getting a new look inside of the tesla facility in hawthorne. elon musk tweeted this of a drone in the production room. there are falcon 9 rockets on your screen an the drone flies inside one of those. tesla set to launch a falcon 9 rocket tomorrow morning. and the drone industry taking off but it was one major limitation. pilots are required to see the drone with their own eyes while flying it. jonathan bloom has a look at a new system from nasa that could soon allow thousands of drones to fly some longer distances.

looking for a gunman after a deadly shooting in front of a popular concord nightclub. witnesses say there may have been a fight and now one man is dead. abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard has details. >> reporter: flowers and candles mark the spot of the fatal shooting on salvo street in concord. >> we heard gunshots and we came and the guy was on the ground. >> reporter: he witnessed what he thought was an argument outside of the niko lounge at 2:00 on saturday. >> i knew it was on bad terms and then that is it. just got shot twice and then fell and it was done. he's fighting for his life. >> reporter: he said the gunman quickly left the scene. >> the car just took off. >> reporter: concord police served a search warrant for a possible home on teresa street in oakley and closed down two blocks to do it. the victim was rob natural who often worked as a security guard as the bar. >> he was the guy that you could

always rely on. >> reporter: mike told us on face time his friend was one in a million. >> he was that guy that was just always there for people, with solid advice, someone that would just listen to you and wasn't real judgemental. >> reporter: a message on the instagram page said the club will be closed until next tuesday. in concord, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. back to the breaking news happening on the bay bridge. our team learning more about an officer-involved shooting. it happened just before 4:00 a.m. on eastbound interstate 80, about three quarters of a mile from the toll plaza. chp said officers were investigating a collision and while they were out there, one of their patrol cars, a vehicle drove at one of the officers. they instructed the suspect to stop but officials say he kept coming at those officers. suspect was then shot several times. his condition not known at this point. he was taken by ambulance to a hospital. chp said eastbound lanes are

closed for the next few hours. that is just before the toll plaza. so if you are headed in that direction, a major heads up. and meanwhile on the peninsula, neighbors hoping to stop what is being called a quote, modern day slavery. abc 7 news was in san mateo as jackie spear hosted an event to educate people on how to spot human trafficking and illegal brothels. it is a problem we last year when san mateo police raided a home across from a high school. >> it is not going on somewhere across the ocean but right here in our communities, maybe even right next door. >> police say it was tips from neighbors who noticed unusual activity that helped them make arrests and shut down the brothel last november. a large tree branch came crashing down on two women during a church picnic in east

bay. the branch fell at shadow cliffs regional recreational center. one was hit and one refused to be taken to the hospital and put an ice pack on her neck. >> it happened just like that. and they heard a tree came over and the branches and then the other lady she was just in shock so they had to take her to the hospital. >> we're glad that woman is fine. and those at the picnic are thankful more people weren't hurt. a fast-moving brush fire in orange county has burned a thousand acres. flames broke out yesterday at lake castaic, a popular spot for camping and swimming. a volunteer evacuation took place at the lake area and the fire about 10% contained this morning. and happening today, a main entrance at yosemite shut down by a rock slide will reopen. highway 140 will open at 6:00 a.m. thanks to hard work by road

crews there. monday 4,000 pounds of rock slid covering the highway completely leading to commuter nightmares for park employees as well as tourists. park rangers say more than 100 dump trucks were used to clear the road which will be repaired later. ♪ fun dance moves there. abc 7 news was in san mateo where the music was thumping at the first ever queer prom. the new san mateo pride center hosted last night's event for teenagers ages 16 to 19. they want lgbt family and friends have a safe place to go to prom free from the typical norms. >> i didn't get to go to prom before and now i have all of these friends and we're here dancing. >> it is something that i've never really experienced before, where all of my friends are coming together and really being themselves. >> lgbt prom.

welcome back. in sports this afternoon, the a's will try to sweep the yankees while the giants try to avoid being swept by colorado. tie block starts for the giants at coors field against the first place rockies and first pitch at 12:10 p.m. cotton takes the mound for oakland. and first pitch at the coliseum at 1:05. last night oakland native andre ward tried to remain undefeated in las vegas. and here is anthony flores with the highlights in this morning's sports. >> the first time andre ward won there was controversy surrounding his victory but this time he didn't leave it up to

have a great sunday and happy father's day. >> thanks, anthony. our heat wave bringing scorching temperatures to the central valley and animal services there had to rescue nearly 1,000 animals that were trapped in the heat in the back of a moving truck in fresno county. 18 of the animals died. cory james from our sister station in fresno has the story. >> reporter: cityisitting in cr are animals rescued in triple-digit weather. >> it was 955 small animals and birds. >> reporter: and they were all trapped with hours with no water and ventilation. >> it was heartbreaking. >> reporter: the animal humane services said one of the officers got the call at 3:00 p.m. on friday after people in a neighborhood reported the smell of something dead. >> when he got out there, he dofred this and -- discovered this and was just panicked. >> reporter: inside were countless birds, rabbits and

guinea pigs and three little pig lets. >> and it was 107 degrees at the front part of the truck because the further you go back because they were stacked in there tight, it was hotter as you went back. >> reporter: now volunteers are working around the clock to help the animals recover, placing them in wadings with food -- wading pools with food and water and are in need of help. >> we need duckling food and chicken food. >> as for the person linked to the moving truck, no charges have been filed but human services said it is an active and ongoing investigation. cory james, abc 7 news. good reminder to check on the pets. they can't take the heat either. my dog was right in front of the fan yesterday. i expect he'll be there again today. a live look outside from our sutro tower camera and you notice that it looks pretty calm right now. but we have cooled off significantly overnight here along the coast. but that hasn't been the case

69 mountain view. 72 in san jose with 54 at half moon bay. gilroy 63. and looking at the shoreline here from the golden gate bridge, it looks so beautiful this morning, but even here, we'll be well into the 70s. 65 santa rosa. 68 napa, and novato. and 75 in concord. so your forecast highlights, spare the air alert today and records are possible, triple-digit heat continues inland into the week and it looks like friday is the best day. so as we look at the forecast tomorrow, numbers coming down a few degrees. but by tuesday, we're back up a few degrees. and this pink line doesn't change too much. in fact it comes back really into mid-week with numbers still flirting with 100 degrees. but at the beach, in the upper 80s. that is the warm spot in santa cruz. low 70s at half moon bay. 75 ocean beach. stinson in the upper 70s. warmer beach there. and numbers in the 90s from san mateo to fremont and 95 in palo alto and warmer than yesterday and the 100 up in the north bay.

notice the numbers here slightly cooler. it looks like a little bit of fog and that should cool us off overnight and you could download your accuweather app and track the heat and see we are looking at excessive heat inland and hopefully dads could get a break today and not do any barbecuing or lawn mowing and over the bay and the coast it is usually warm. so it happens but it usually happens in two and trhree days and then it is gone. this is a long stretch. >> yeah. maybe take dad to a movie. >> speaking of the heat. could you imagine going to the beach and seeing this. sharks a little too close for comfort. after the break, we'll tell you how this

take a look behind me. look at the scary situation for

some beach-goers in alabama. they spotted sharks and they chased fish a few feet from the beach. people had to scramble to safety. no injuries were reported. this happened on friday. one of the people who was on the beach posted this video on her facebook page. local emergency officials helped get everyone to safety. but boy, a little too close for comfort. next on abc 7 mornings at 6:00 a.m., we'll update you on the breaking news on the bay bridge that continues to shut down all eastbound lanes. you want to stay tuned for this if you are traveling east.
