hr is probably the more important part. hi, everybody. here's a look at live doppler 7. i overlaid the cloud layer. they're definitely out there and spilling into the bay, as we talked about. look at these temperatures. most of us in the 60s to near 70 by 7:00. we head through the 12-hour day planner. 68 in san francisco. mid to upper 70s around the bay and 80s inland. and then by 4:00, we'll still have 60s in san francisco. 90s inland.around the bay and if you're heading out this evening, 60s around the bay, 70s and 8 inland. >> that sounds much better. taking a look at the roads. not seeing much of the fog in the south bay here today. 101 and 880, still looking great on the inbound side. we don't have any major blocking issues right now and our drive times looking good. a quick check of those, southbound 680, highway 4 to walnut creek, 6 minutes. westbound 24, walnut creek to highway 13, eight minutes. westbound 580 tracy to dublin, 33 minutes. a lot of street closures for

pride events this weekend. we'll talk more coming up. >> family and friends of a teenage girl are devastating after she fell off the cliffs near land's end in san francisco. this is video of the beach patrol riding into china beach with the victim in tow on a stabilizing board. unfortunately, she passed away just minutes after being rescued. the teen had fallen at least 50 feet from the cliffs just east of mile rock beach. she was with another adult and a friend when she fell. authorities believe she was not on the designated trail when she lost her footing. >> she had multiple injuries and fractures. she was barely breathing when we got to her. she made it all the way down. she fell all the way down to the water, so therefore, she was in the water. it was kind of cold. so i would say approximately 10 or 15 minutes in the water. >> officials say a rising tide and treacherous conditions made it difficult for first responders to reach the girl. >> now to the heat wave, as mike told us, the weather is starting to cool down today, but the heat wave has been a good thing for

the vines at bay area wineries. the vines were growing too fast. state laws required vineyard workers to stop worker if temperatures reached 95 degrees. they tell abc 7 news the policies began in the late 1960s. this week, the workers have started their days earlier. >> these puppies got a break from the heat inside animal services mobile pet cooling unit. santa rosa's fire department posted these photos online yesterday. the puppies and their mama were brought in by their owner. a reminder about pet safety in hot weather. it took five calls yesterday and five calls wednesday about dogs trapped in hot cars. they are all doing okay this morning. >> the best spot to hear a summer concert was in the shade. abc 7 news was in concord where the kill billys played in the heat. a man working inside the kettle corn tent was probably sweating

more than anyone. he said wearing long sleeves protects him from the intnls heat. >> hot weather did not help out firefighters in vallejo who had to battle a dangerous grass fire that damaged homes and forced neighbors to leave everything behind. >> now homeowners are surveying the damage. here's cornell bernard. >> oh, my god. >> neighbors in panic mode. as the grass fire roared up this canyon, headed straight for homes in vallejo's glen cove neighborhood. >> there's a fire in the back. it's in the back. it's close to us. let's go. >> shonda says her family got out of the house. the fire shattered windows and scorched part of the roof. and left her backyard looking like a moonscape. >> we're lucky. we have our lives. that's all that really matters. >> 150 firefighters battled the 40-acre blaze sparked by this jeep which caught fire on bridge.ate 80 near the carquin hot weather was no help in the firefight. we' trying to rotate our crews. we had a couple other firefighters who have had heat-related experiences.

live at the track with what's happening. hey, amy. >> reporter: hi, good morning, natasha. they're already gearing up for the expected 100,000 people who are going to pass through these doors this weekend. we're right here on this track. this two-mile track. this road course that sonoma is so well known for. they're expecting so many people here, they already started arriving. some got here yesterday. they're going to be camping here because they want to not have to deal with the traffic. they're moving in for the weekend. one big draw this weekend, dale earn hart jr. this will be his last time at the race. a spokesperson thinks this will be emotional for his fans who are very attached to him and his family. junior has said racetracks like sonoma's are a challenge for him. there are ten turns in this race track. it sounds like he will be receiving a warm welcome to help him through it. >> we are his first last race, sore we're the first race track he won't go back to again this

nightclub shooting in orlando will remain this year. am of the survivors from that attack will march in the 47th annual parade on sunday. alexis has more on how this will impact the roads. >> we already have some street closures in place. that started yesterday. a lot more closing today. i mapped out a lot of these around city hall and around civic center and united nations plaza. if these are not already closed, they will be throughout the day today, just to give you an idea of how tough it is going to be to get through this area in a vehicle. many muni routes will be detoured, rerouted as well. this is a lot to keep track of. i did just post all of those street closures on my twitter page, alexis abc 7, if you want to look at those. a couple of the main events at civic center plaza, the pride celebration saturday and sunday. noon to 6:00 saturday, 11:00 to 6:00 on sunday. expecting large kraudz there, and the main event sunday, and that parade roult is market street, it starts at beale.

at theive desknew information on the london apartment fire that killed at least 79 people earlier this month. according to police, the fire started in a freezer made by a hot point. company owned by whirlpool. the company issued a statement offering their condolences to the victims. government has ordered immediate testing of the appliances. overnight, london police revealed the building installation and exterior tiles failed safety tests. police are considering all criminal charges for the fire. every company that had a hand, the building's construction, will be looked at. >> many californians could see their health insurance costs rise under a republican senate bill. it's aimed at repealing the affordable care act. backers of the bill argue it will save taxpayers billions of dollars both here in california and across the nation. the gop proposal calls for major cuts to medicaid, which is called medi-cal here in

"gma" first look, i'm lindsay davis, abc news, new jersey. >> a san bruno police are looking for a robbery suspect after a pursuit yesterday. it all started with a residential burgly on crestmore drive. one of the two suspects hopped into a car. after a short chase, the man crashed into another vehicle and ran away. that caused authorities to place john muir elementary on lockdown. a short time later, they found that suspect and arrested him. >> palo alto police are looking for a pantsless driver who exposed himself to twoirls on a 12-year-old girl walking her g on newal road said a man driving by asked her for directions to the community pool while fondling himself. a 16-year-old riding her bicycle says that a car pulled alongside her and that the driver was touching himself. the victims described the man as a thin white male in hits 20 or 30s, driving a newer white or silver four-door sedan. >> uber must hand over contact

information for its drivers to the city of san francisco. city sued uber demanding the information so it can verify whether drivers have properly business licenses and are paying taxes. the ride share company argued divulging information about its drivers would violate their privacy, but yesterday a judge ruled against uber. we reached out to uber for comment and we are yet to hear back. >> it's hard to imagine that they can go much higher, but home prices in the bay area have just reached another peak. yeah, in may, the median price for all homes in the bay area was $755,000. that is a new high. up 7% from a year ago. these numbers are from core logic, a real estate data firm. home prices have gone up every month for five years in a row. >> well, like the bay area, one part of england is also enduring a heat wave. for boys at one school, they're making a fashion statement after being told they couldn't wear shorts to class. >> take a look. they started wearing skirts. this following a boy getting in trouble for wearing shorts to school and a teacher said

tuesday. we're back to average in san francisco. even to daly city. 61. downtown san francisco, 68. south san francisco, 69. mission, about 70 for the warm spot today. along the east bay, yeah, welcoming that sea breeze that will keep oakland at 76, hayward at 78. san leandro at 80. peninsula today if you're on the ocean side, half moon bay, 63. partly sunny. hot spots yesterday on the bay side. just warm spots today. head into the south bay, the warmth will linger. 88 in san jose to about 92 in los gatos. as you head up into the north bay, it's more comfortable. santa rosa, 86. san rafael, 81. sonoma at about 85. our east bay, going about six days in a row with 100 degree temperatures. today, mid to upper 90s. look at this, sleeping weather tonight. temperatures in the mid 50s to % mid 60s. even cooler than this morning and more cloud cover out there. that will lead to cooler conditions tomorrow, and that morning clouds will be around every single day. so we'll get back to average by tuesday next week.

alexis. >> good morning, mike. got a little tip for all the drivers this morning. do not do this. all right, a state trooper in massachusetts found this mannequin in a car that he pulled over in the hov lane. the trooper got suspicious when he saw the fake passenger, so he motioned for the driver to pull over. it took another trooper to get the guy to stop, and that's when they found out, yep, exactly what they thought. it was a mannequin. the driver was cited for the hov violation. and a failure to stop for a police officer. you know, honestly, i kind of enjoy these pictures. of course, we don't encourage this is pretty good. sometimes it's kind of a halfway attempt to get that hov passenger in there. this guy had sunglasses on, his hood up and everything. really, not a bad effort, but sorry, you're busted. quick check of highway 17. one accident here, not a great situation, if you're trying to drive southbound to santa cruz, southbound 17 just before the summit, this is a sig alert. a full closure now of highway 17. i told you about the semi stuck in the right lane.

another semi tried to get by him, got stuck as well. now both lanes are blocked and chp is saying use alternate routes. southbound 17 likely not going to be open for a while. no good options through this stretch. state route 9 if you want to take the long way around, 101 to 152, those are both wide open at this time. we'll look at drive times and talk about the fog coming up next. all right, thank you, alexis. california's generating so much solar power that it's paying arizona and other states to take the excess. los angeles times reports it happened 14 times in march. they say the state does not get rid of its excess power, it could overload the electricity grid and cause blackouts. it's not as big a problem in the summer because the demand is so high. part of the problem is the utilities are still dominated by fossil fuel power. solar power now accounts for 10% of the power generated in california. >> coming up next, the seven things you need to know. >> we'll show you new images from nasa showing the dramatic

still be in place this year. tiffany wilson is live at san francisco city hall. good morning, tiffany. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. yes, the barricades are already up, and now that it's light out, you can see they're starting to assemble the main stage behind me. if you plan on coming to the festival this weekend, one thing to keep in mind is the size of your bag. nothing larger than 18 x 18 is allowed inside. to give you perspective, this bag is about 16 x 16. this could get in. now, police say if your bag is too big, you simply have to leave it at home. there's no storage here onite for oversized bags. poli also say that anyone coming to the festival tomorrow and sunday should expect to be screened. they're urging everyone to stay with a group of friends when leaving the festival or leaving bars and clubs later at night. there will be extra uniformed and plain clothes patrols throughout the weekend to provide additional security, but they do want you to stay safe and stay in groups. pride goers are encouraged to

tabling public transit if possible and alexis smith will have all the details on how you can get around the road closures. the big pride parade takes place sunday morning at 10:30. but the 14th annual trans march will hit the streets tonight. participants will gather at dolores park and march to turk and tailor streets. and prior to that, there will be a brunch and a rally in dolores park. the brunch kicks off at 11:00 a.m. this morning. live in san francisco, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. >> thank you. well, now turning to the heat wave. the worst of the hot weather is behind us, but mike nicco says much of the bay area will still see warm temperatures. >> in the south bay, people are making an extra effort to those most vulnerable to the hot weather. they were handing out water and snacks. at least two people have died of heat related illnesses in san jose this week. one was a homeless man in a car.

officials also decided to open county libraries to pets. >> it's great, very wonderful. because she's still very young. >> it's a health concern throughout the entire county right now. so it's nice to be able to do a little something that makes it a little easier for people to get through their day. >> the county libraries will continue to accommodate pets today. >> remember all the rain we had in the winter? that contributed to a massive snow pack in the sierra nevadas. thanks to the heat wave. back in march, the snow pack, 184% of normal. this month, down to 177%. just a few days ago over here, 143%. the department of water resources says that runoff into rivers and reservoirs is up 250% higher than average. power is back on this morning for most of the 3,000 pg&e customers who lost electricity in yesterday's heat. abc 7 news was in fremont where crews have loaded up and replaced at least 400 transforms

since saturday. heat is also being blamed for tree branches that snapped and fell onto power lines. you can always track the temperatures where you live with the abc 7 news accuweather app. download it to be notified of heat alerts and advisories. >> san pablo police are asking for your help identifying a suspected bang robber. investigators say the same man robbed a chase bank on san pablo avenue last week and a citi bank at the town center on tuesday. detectives obtained this surveillance video of the suspect at a nearby liquor store following one of the robberies. he's described as an african-american man, approximately 20 to 30 years old, medium build with a full trimmed beard and also several distinctive tattoos. >> brentwood police say a homeowner will not be charged for defending himself when he shot two people wednesday night. police say two men, one of them armed, tried to rob the man while he was alone inside his home on bird street. after being forced to open a safe, he was able to get his gun and kill both suspects.

neig say there was someone in a getaway car who drove away after the shootings. a police investigation is ongoing. >> police released a mugshot of former contra costa d.a. mark peterson. he pleaded no contest to felony perjury last thursday. instead of jail time, he'll do 250 hours of community service and spend three years on probation. he admitted to illegally spending $66,000 of campaign donations on personal items. he then lied about it on documents filed with the state. >> happening today, the golden gate bridge board of directors will decide whether or not all northbound lanes should be closed for the san francisco marathon. during previous races they allowed traffic on southbound lanes and left one northbound lane open. given recent terror attacks, the board may take extra precautions this year. under the plan, the bridge district says all northbound lanes would be closed from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. on sunday, july 23rd. >> nascar fans will pack sonoma raceway as their favorite drivers practice on the track.

5:43 now. north korea on the defensive this morning following the death of american college student otto warmbier. the country calling itself the biggest victim after warmbier was returned from over a year of detention in a coma. the korean central news agency has denied that north korea tortured or cruelly treated him.

they have accused the u.s. and south korea of a smear campaign. u.s. doctors who examined him say he suffered severe neurological trauma but found no evidence of botulism as north korea claimed. >> dennis rodman is talking to abc news about his recent trip to north korea, suggesting he is partly responsible for warmbier's release. he sat down with michael strahan. >> give all the love to the family, but i didn't know he was sick but he wasn't sick. when he went there, he was fine. a year later, the same day you go over, he's released in a coma. this is in a place that you said this guy who runs this place is your friend. how can that happen and you still have these feelings and this sentiment? >> i'm going to die for this guy. it's not like that. he's a friend of mine, great. i don't look at the political side of him. what am i getting out of this? i'm going out of there out of the kindness of my heart to try to help. i come back.

month, thieves armed with hammers and a gun have targeted a bay area cosco. foster city police tell it happened at about 11:00 yesterday morning at the costco on metro center boulevard. this is video from a similar incident in danville last month. yesterday, the robbers broke the jewelry display case with hammers and took items from inside in less than 30 seconds. the robbers then ran out of the store and into their car. no reports of injuries. >> tesla is considering launching its own streaming music service according to recode. according to the site's sources, they have spoken to several major labels about acquiring the rights to stream songs. that could provide a tiered pricing model. no word on if you would have to own a tesla to enjoy the service. >> apple is rolling out an early version of its new operating system and it includeshe new feature to make our roads safer. we told you about the new do not disturb while driving mode. it can tell if you're inside a vehicle by seeing if your car is
