should do it, we will hold on to those clouds at the coast. we'll talk about even cooler temperatures in the next few days. coming up with my extended outlook in a few minutes, tiffany. >> sri, thank you. pride weekend is in full swing. festivities have been going off without a hitch, but the real test will be today. hundreds of thousands of people are expected to turn out for the 47th annual pride parade and afterparty at civic center plaza. abc 7 news reporter lisa has the story. >> reporter: the party continues in the castro. where locals and tourists unite for some fun and police are also out to make sure everyone is safe. >> very, very much multiplied this year. i'm seeing three to four times the usual police presence for pride weekend. >> reporter: the san francisco police department is at full staff this weekend. everyone is working and all vacations have been cancelled. with an extra one million people

in the city for pride weekend, and with recent terrorist attacks taking place worldwide, everyone is on high alert. >> make us aware that things are more real now. >> reporter: police made with bar owners this month to talk about safety protocols. phas five times more security er than usual this weekend. >> last year we had pulse right before pride, and we felt we needed to elevate our security then. and we're doing the same thing this year just to keep our customers safe and the neighborhood safe as well. >> reporter: at the celebrations at civic center plaza. there is increased security screening, attendees have to go through metal detectors and have bags checked. police are in crowds, in plain clothes, and on rooftops. measures many think are now necessary. >> i always look for where the closest police is located and i always watch people, their body

language, how they're roog around, gestures they're making. >> and again, that was lisa. one year after the pulse nightclub shooting in orlando, survivors and friends and family was victims travelled to san francisco to join the pride parade. abc 7 news spoke with a man who's best friend was killed in the nightclub shooting. >> that happens to be one of the very last things he did for me. was there at pulse that night, standing on the patio, he put his arm around me like he always did and he said, i love you. >> brandon wolf is keeping his friend's legacy alive through the drew project. it's a group that is named after christopher andrew who was one of the 49 people killed at pulse last year. the nonprofit gives scholarships for members of the lgbt community and provides a leadership opportunity. >> the things people remember about pulse ten years from now i hope are the things like the drew project, the things that are love, unity, compassion. >> there is always more.

that we can do in order to protect future kids, teens, adults, anybody who is in threat of being attacked. >> wolf and sarah grossman will speak at the pride parade today along with others recommending the brady campaign to prevent gun violence. the iconic pink triangle is in place at twin peaks right now. they were used to identify and prosecute home sexuals. the pink triangle will be taken down this afternoon following the city's pride parade. security will of course be high at today's pride parade. the parade run downs market street between eighth and biel. highlighted here in blue. street closures start at 6:00 a.m. and those are indicated in red. many muni lines will also be rerouted during the parade. you can find a closer view of that map as well as a full calendar of events on our website, abc7news.com or by dounding the abc 7 news. enable push alert for pride

updates throughout the day. we have developing news this morning, the death toll continues to rise after an oil tanker explosion in pakistan. over 148 people have died after the tanker overturned in the eastern part of that country. officials say residents rushed to collect leaking fuel with jerry cans after the tanker flipped, and then it burst into flames. police tried to cordon off the area but were overwhelmed by villagers. 76 are wounded without dozens listed in critical condition. back here in the bay area, neighbors it in a fremont neighborhood are terrified after several home invasion robberies led to the arrest of a teenaged boy and the detention of two of his accomplices. abc 7 news reporter leslie brinkly has sfroirt fremont. >> he was then attacked, punched in the face at a pretty significant -- i mean, damaged his eye. >> reporter: this witness and neighbor wanted to remain anonymous as he described how

the same intruders returned to the same house in fremont's neighborhood three days later. using the stolen keys to try to get into the house. they also tried to break a sliding glass door, the same woman victim and her son was home. >> they ran off. we were able to capture some of the vehicle on both days on our cameras. >> reporter: the brazen suspects returned again the very next day driving the same maroon dhoon accord. alert neighbors blocked their exit as they called police. this is cell phone video showing police arresting a 15-year-old boy on two counts of home invasion robbery, elder abuse, and possession of a stolen vehicle. his accomplices were also detained, a 14-year-old girl and ten-year-old girl. the 15-year-old neighbors say was armed with a sledge hammer. >> i know, they were young, but yeah, that was shocking. >> reporter: relieved now? >> relieved now. >> reporter: others describe many thefts in the neighborhood

and teenagers loitering with alcohol. >> there's a few people not in the neighborhood come and hang out, like just sit in the car. that's like risky because you have kids here. >> reporter: police praised all the neighborhood cameras and the vigilants of residents. >> we always need help from the community and the more support that we have from the community, the better we're able to do our jobs. >> reporter: in fremont, i'm leslie brinkly, abc 7 news. federal investigators are looking at a small plane that crashed about a football field's length away from where it was supposed to land. abc 7 news was just outside the san martin airport south of morgan hill where the single engine zest in a 182 crashed just after 5:00 last night. the pilot was the only one on board and he walked away with cults to his face. a man driving by on highway 101 saw what happened and rushed over to help. >> actually came about 30 feet above his vehicle, he pulled over and rendered aid to the party and actually pulled him

out of the airplane. >> the pilot told chp that his engine quit as he was coming in to land. and was just returning from dropping off sky divers. a fire in the heart of san francisco's castro district briefly interrupted yesterday's pride celebrations. a viewer shared video showing smoke and flames pouring out of a second floor balcony. it happened just above the restaurant. no one was hurt. a large tree branch crashed down on top of a car in san francisco. a neighbor posted photos to twirts, it happened at columbus and lombard briefly blockinged cable car line. now the this is just a few blocks away from washington square park where in august a fallen branch left a woman paralyzed. the city called it a freak accident. lost children and victims on the ground attracted a lot of attention at a bus write public park, not to worry, this is only a drill. abc 7 news was in the park as

firefighters and police officers trained volunteers for the community emergency response team. the team is called into action any time there is a major disaster. the mock scenarios help prepare those who don't save people for a living to help out. >> it's not just firefighters who are doing it. it's everybody. it's you, it's me, it's our neighbors, it's our kids, it's our boy scouts. that's exciting to see. >> this is the first time the training has been held. surveillance cameras helped police break up a side show and make several arrests. police say they received complaints of hundreds of people and cars gathering at the parking lot of the santa rosa marketplace on friday nights. police provided these pictures captured by cameras that they set up. they arrested six people and towed two cars. in san jose, a flower shop owner is accused of stealing more than $26,000 from her customers. this mug shot for jazmine rivera shows the florist in tears. prosecutors say she refused to

don't win. and they accused republicans of making sure that that doesn't happen. >> they are suppressing the vote all over the country. they don't just suppress the vote because they racist, they suppress it because it's a practical matter, it's how they win. >> speakers also blamed a misguided mass incarceration policy that leans against blacks and latinos as another way to suppress votes. south sacramento police are investigating the burning of a bacon-filled koran outside of a mosque as a possible hate crime. now a citizen flagged down a policeman who saw a burned koran filled with bacon hanging by a handcuff from a fence. pork is forbidden in the islamic faith. the mosque is the largest in the greater sacramento area. also in sacramento, a woman applying for a u.s. citizenship found out that she already was one for six decades. 70-year-old honey gerdman was

living in holland. she wanted to gain citizenship to stay in the u.s. to be with her sick mother without the limitations of a tourist visa. immigration attorney cleared everything up. >> this is such a relief. he looked into it, he says, but you're a citizen. you're a citizen. >> yes. it turn outs that her mother and deceased father were u.s. citizens and that at one point, she actually lived with them in the u.s. as a child and previously held a green card. honey did not say why she thought she wasn't a citizen, but she did leave the pledge of allegiance at her oath ceremony and got her certificate which dates back 60 years. well residents of 90 homes in the county remain evacuated following two levy breaches along kings river. the levies were breached late friday night after a massive amount of snow melt was released from pine flat dam. parts of a golf course are under ten feet of water.

this is all happening north of highway 99 near the town of kingsberg. nascar fans attending the big toyota 350 race are being warned, arrive early and expect a lot of traffic. today's event is of special significant because it will be dale earnhardt jr.'s very last race at the sonoma raceway before he retires. more than 40,000 fans are expected to attend and raceway officials and highway patrol expect significant traffic delays along highways 37 and 121 compromise are both single lane roads. now your accuweather forecast with lisa argan. good morning, the low clouds and fog are back, except for around concord this morning. so as we check out live doppler 7, live camera shot here, you can see the marine layer and it looks pretty, doesn't it? although the fog will cozy up to the coast today. 55 in san francisco, it's 56

half-moon bay, 60 in oakland, 61 in mountain view and san jose. nice, dark picture here in the city with partly cloudy skies on the way. 55 in nevado. we have a wind out by the delta nearly 40 miles an hour. that dellal breeze not only transporting the cooler air, but patches of low clouds there as well. that's why we have the low cloudiness into the livermore valley. concord's clear and you're looking clouds in the city. fog once again, coast and bay, mist and drizzle right along the shoreline. the cooling tonights today and more cooling through about tuesday, temperatures will recover somewhat and numbers near average throughout the week ahead. but as you go through the rest of your sunday, notice, that we have the fog over into the east bay this morning. then it pulls back by noontime, but, 2:00, 3:00, it's still here to half-moon bay, even san francisco will be partly cloudy today. we'll look for a nice afternoon

up in the north here around sonoma where it could get really hot. only in the upper 70s today by 4:00, 79 degrees, so it should be pretty nice, a lot of sunshine for you, but watch out for that traffic as tiffany pointed out. in the city today looking at numbers on the cooler side of average, partly cloudy skies, pretty much for the entire day. starting out gray in the upper 50s, 9:00 and then into the low 60s, kind of staying there. and then by the evening hours, 59 degrees. so in the south bay today, shy of average was 79 in san jose, look for 75 closer to the bay around milpitas and sunnyville. the sea breeze with low 70s, mountain view should see about 77 this time of year. even a little cool. big switch from about a week ago or less than that, 62 in san francisco. average high of 76 into the north bay. notice, you'll have that fog right along the coasts there. 78, snow in a, 79 in napa, on the east bay, numbers topping out right around 70 degrees for

good morning, this half hour with a look at the weather. here's lisa argan. good morning. >> good morning to you. we have fog everywhere except for concord this morning. so as we take a look at our temperature profile this morning, you'll notice that we are looking at numbers still milder in our inland valleys by 7:00 we'll be in the 60s here, but look what happens as we go through the next couple of hours. 8:00, we're still in the 50s with the fog, extending over into oakland and hayward. mid-60s in livermore with some sun there and by 9:00, that

sunshine is working to burn off that fog in hayward and oakland, but not quite. it is going to take until about 11:00 until we see almost sunny skies, but notion along the shoreline, 50s half-moon bay and gray skies at the coast, tiffany. >> thank you. now to a desperate rescue effort under way in china. most of a village in the southwestern part of that country was covered in a mud and rock slide while people were sleeping. more than 100 people are still missing. marcie gonzalez has the story. >> reporter: rescuers desperately digging through the rubble, as many as 120 people missing feared buried beneath this crush of heavy rocks and mud. officials say the massive landslide came with no longer at 6:00 a.m. local time in the province. heavy rain causing the mountainside to crumble on to the village below. a second smaller landslide triggering bolders to topple on to the village. search dogs, heavy equipment,

and instruments to detect life all deployed for finding signs of survivors. he says, dozens of households in the village were completely buried and he says his one month old son saved them by crying and waking them up moments before the mudslide hit. i was pinned down in the dining room, we slowly got up, held the baby, and escaped he explains, but at least 15 dead, rescuers are still hoping for more stories like his. uncovering crumb nled pieces of some of the more than 40 homes that were obliterated. a hotel is also buried beneath the rubble. tourists are among the missing. marcie gonzalez, abc news, los angeles. london's problem with high-rise apartment towers continues. the government says samples from external siding panels covering 34 high-rise buildings across the country have failed fire safety tests. those same panels were a major contributor to the deadly fire at the tower earlier this month

where at least 79 people died. hundreds of residents were also evacuated from four housing blocks after inspectors found issues with gas pipe insulation and fire doors. developing news, there are urging concerns over an apparent cyber attack on britain's parliament. it appears there were unauthorized attempts to hack government officials and now many leaders in the uk are unable to access their e-mails. abc news reporter ron claiborne has that story. >> reporter: an audacious cyber attack, every member of the parliament shut out of remote e-mail by the british government after hackers attempted to break into their accounts. >> blanket targeting of members of parliament is serious. it's very serious in nature in terms of if i can get access to your e-mail account, then, i can get access to a lot of information. >> reporter: the hack attempt first discovered friday led to the shutdown and this alert from parliament on the cyber attack. an attempt to identify weak pass words, these attempts were

specifically trying to gain access to users e-mails. this member of parliament taking to twitter. no parliamentary e-mail access today. cyber attack from kim jong-un, putin, or a kid in his mom's basement or something. it's not immediately known who was behind the attack, but the times of london reports that russian hackers have been selling e-mail addresses and passwords of senior british government officials. >> we know that the public services are attacked. so it's not a total surprising that there should be an attempt to hack into parliamentary e-mails. >> reporter: the suspected goal of such an effort -- >> i believe it has the whole marks of political disruption. >> reporter: so far no indication the hack has actually succeeded. investigators are still trying to figure out who was fwhooind bold cyber attack and yet another reminder, the vulnerability they were trying to exploit, weak passwards. abc news, london. scary situation last night

at a new york amusement park that could have ended up much worse. the eyewitness who captured this video said he heard screaming just before 8:00 at six flags in upstate new york. he looked up to see a teenage irl hanging from the bottom of a chair ride. a group of bystanders all gathered below to catch her fall from nearly 35 feet. she didn't suffer any serious injuries and remains in stable condition at a local hospital. one of the men who caught her was also taken to the hospital with a back injury. a very close call for a man in alabama. this man, he was walking along orange beach in the middle of tropical storm cindy this week, seems pretty oblivious to the increasingly violent ocean. and then, just 15 seconds after he walks away from the water, a palm tree comes crashing down. as you can see, he wasn't hurt, but, clearly a little rattled. 109-year-old tree grown from

a small seed donated by john mirror is on the move in idaho. the ten story tall, 800,000 pound mystery in the way of a hospital expansion and so it is being moved two blocks to city property. >> technical challenge is probably the vertical height of this tree is unusual. most trees that we move, even if they're really large or 50, 60 feet tall, this one being over 100 foot tall is a little bit different. >> so glad they are saving that tree. he made his home in the bay area and led the fight to create yosemite national park from his home in martinez. well more freshman than ever before will attend san jose state university this fall. in fact, there will be about 1400 more than the school expected. and that is a good problem, but it's creating a big problem when it comes to finding room for them to live and study. abc 7 news reporter chris wynn has more on the story that you'll only see on abc 7 news.

>> reporter: it's construction season at san jose state. and crews are trying to get as much done as possible before student ace reporting live for classes this fall. the university's getting ready to welcome the largest freshman class ever with more than 5,000 students expected to enroll. that's 25% more than officials planned for. >> students are tremendously interested in being here, we tried to accommodate all we can, but it is, it is challenging to keep up, we'll do our best, but it is a challenge. >> reporter: but the growing pains are evident as sjsu's popularity in silicon valley continues to rise. more than 1400 students, half of them freshman were put on a waiting list for on campus housing. the university normally has space to accommodate, but that won't be the case this fall. >> it's frustrating as parent to see my daughter going through all the emotions of knowing that she may not be able to have the college experience that she has been looking forward to since she was a young girl. >> reporter: freshman who come

from outside of a 30 mile radius of san jose typically have to live on campus, but that requirement will not be waived for those who aren't able to be placed in a dorm. since freshman who applied before the deadline are given priority, incoming graduate students could also be affected by the housing crunch. >> that gives me less than two months to find a place to live. which it's certainly doable, but it definitely kind of puts the clock on. >> reporter: sjsu officials are currently forecasting freshman sources for the fall. the university's academic affairs team tells abc 7 news, lecture-based classes may be expanded and smaller sections could be added where it makes sense to do so. freshman will register for courses during orientation in the coming weeks. in san jose, chris wynn, abc 7 news. a local soccer club that can't be at today's pride parade will show their support in a different way. san francisco city fc's next match takes place today durgs pride festivities, and the team is showing their support with special edition jerseys to
