we do say good morning on this monday. we're going to start in washington, d.c. where we're tracking important developments on several fronts this morning. >> first in the senate a vote is looming this week on the plan to repeal and replace obamacare. meanwhile, it's the last day of the supreme court session which means we could get a decision on president trump's controversial avel ban. >> so all of this adds up to a busy day for emily rau who is covering all o it for us. good morning, ememily. >> reporter: good morning, kendis and diane. this is quite the uphill battle for the senate health care bill. with only a few days to close the deal every moment counts for the gop snores trying to push it through. a catalyst for heated town halls and rallies over the weekend. >> get your conscience in order and do what's right. >> reporter: and impassioned debate on sunday morning tv, the fight over our nation's health care system is heating up.

>> this legislation will cause devastating pain to millions of american families. >> reporter: potential cuts to medicaid a key holdup for many but the implications of the senate's 142-page bill are very different depending on who you ask. >> you keep calling them cuts. we don't see them as cuts. >> i respectfully disagree with her analysis. it's hard for me to see the bill passing this week. >> reporter: with democrats unified in opposition republicans can only afford two no votes. five gop senators now saying they do not support the bill in its current form. five more have big concerns. kentucky senator and physician rand paul does not support it. >> there is no way the republican bill brings down premiums. >> the plan in its entirety will absolutely bring premiums down. >> reporter: the congressional budget office could put out a score on the program outlining how many americans may lose coverage as early as today. president trump telling fox news, he is still hopeful. >> i think we're going to get

there. >> reporter: if senate majority leader mitch mcconnell has his way there will be a vote on the bill by the end of the week before the senate breaks for the fourth of july holiday. diane and kendis. >> many will watch to see what happens. also today is the final day of the supreme court's term. what are we looking for on that front, emily? >> reporter: all right. two big things there. the president's travel ban and possibly high court retirement. the justices are expected to issue a decision on whether to allow the trump administration to start enforcing that 90-day ban on visitors from six mostly muslim countries, and then there are the rumors that justice anthony kennedy might be announcing his retirement today. if he does, that would pave the way for conservatives to take firm control of the court. diane. >> that's abc's emily rau for us live from washington. emily, thanks. and also from washington there are reports this morning that russia is rahming its longtime ambassador to the u.s. sergey kislyak had served as

russia's top diplomat to the u.s. for ten years. he's been facing scrutiny into the alleged interference in the presidential election as well as meetings with trump administration officials including son-in-law jared kushner. breaking overnight firefighters are battling intense wildfires across the west. there are close to two dozen wildfires right now in seven states and near record temperatures aren't actually helping. a fire north of los angeles and santa clarita grew very quickly after it was started by a car accident and destroyed one storage building on a movie %-p acres. 30 homes evacuated there. the largest fire in the u.s. right now, though, is in utah covering a huge area. 67 square miles and is only 10% contained. hundreds of people have been evacuated. my cabin did start on fire because we thought it was good because the smoke had cleared and we didn't see much flame at

all, but we didn't realize it was inside. >> came for these and photographs and got the back of my truck filled with family photo albums so i feel grateful that i got them. >> i can understand that, and it's called the brian head fire, the one there in utah. it was started by a campfire that wasn't properly extinguished. now for a look at your weather forecast. more extreme heat expected today in the west with high temperatures in the triple digits in arizona, parts of southern california and las vegas. there's no rain in sight for this area although temperatures are expected to slowly decrease over the next week. the heat is being blamed for at least four deaths recently including two toddlers. one was found dead inside his father's car in houston. another was an elderly woman with alzheimer's disease. she wandered away from her nursing room or nursing home, i should say, and then died within 20 minutes. the company that made

millions of exploding automobile air bags is calling it quits. takata has filed for bankruptcy both in japan and here in the u.s. it plans to sell off its operations to a competitor. this, by the way, is the biggest corporate failure in japan since world war ii. worldwe are blamed on the air bags. the problem also forced the largest recall ever u.s. history. 42 million vehicles. the dangerous air bags are slow at being replaced. a group proclaiming support for isis claimed responsibility for hacking into ohio governor john kasich's official website. several other ohio state government websites were hacked. the group left a message warning americans that, quote, radical islam infiltrating the heartland and declaring a love for isis. the same hackers have claimed responsibility for hacking government websites in other states as well. well, this morning crews are searching for dozens of people missing after a ferry sank in colombia. dramatic images of the capsized boat are circulating on social media. at least nine people have died so far, and it's not clear what

caused this boat to sink, but survivors say it was overcrowded with at least 170 passengers on board. none of those who were there were wearing life vests. here at home gay pride events all over the country attracted people to cities like new york, chicago and san francisco this weekend. >> but this year many marches and paraded turned sharply political with many participants taking aim on president trump and in several cities black lives matter activists crashed parades, even temporarily halting festivities. but here in new york a first for any gay pride parade, on broadcast tv here on wabc. facebook is doing something it's never done before. plus, that agonizing wait on board a crippled plane. not some not so reassuring words from the cockpit telling people to pray. and a young girl dangled from an amusement park ride and then falls but hear why people told her to let go. from an amusement park ride and then falls but hear why people

way from los angeles to houston. an off-duty cop tackled the passenger, and the plane was forced to land in corpus christi and the passenger was removed. an arkansas inmate is back in bars after escaping 32 years ago. steven dishman seen here in a new mug shot on the left, old one on the right, was serving seven years for burglary and theft when he escaped back in 1985 taken into custody at a home in springdale or by springdale police after more than three decades on the run and police got a tip about his location. he is now 60 and will have to complete his original sentence and may face additional jail time. facebook is ready to get into the television business said to be in talks about producing scripted shows with the same of launching original programming by late summer so pretty soon. adrienne bankert, abc news, new york. an american tourist is fighting for his life after he was shot while on vacation in the caribbean. kevin newman is now in a medically induced coma in a florida hospital. he was shot and robbed in turks and caicos while there with his wife and son. one of the bullets damaged his liver, a kidney and several arteries. police have not yet made any arrests. and also a teenage girl from north carolina who has been missing for more than a year has been found alive at a home in georgia. a 31-year-old man has been taken into custody. the 17-year-old haley burns her name has now been reunited with her family thanks to a tipster who her parents say helped track her down. it's still not clear whether she was taken or left home on her own. tennis legend john mcenroe has fired a hard volley at serena williams. >> in an interview with npr, mcenroe says serena is the greatest woman's player in

cambodia. chi's wife said her husband respected tang. they were friends for years. she has no idea what could have happened between the two men, but she is focused on hoping that body part does not belong to her husband. live in san francisco, amy holingfield, abc 7 news. we are tracking an overnight shooting in san francisco's bayview neighborhood. police say gunmen pulled alongside a car on bay shore boulevard and marin street around 10:00 last night and opened fire. a passenger was inside the car that was hit. the driver took off but lost control a short time later, crashed eventually. police are releasing very little information at this point except the victim is a man who is now hospitalized. and so far no word on any suspects or a possible motive. san francisco police are trying to find the person who set a popular
