and said the guy at the window, guy at the window, they came down, had ak-47s, told me it get out of my room. >> the injured deputy is a four-year veteran of the sheriff's department. he underwent extensive surgery on his jaw. a federal judge ordering the city to appear in court to discuss how it handled the investigation. a judge says he finds very troubling conclusions about how city leaders acted after finding out multiple officers assaulted a teen. the city mishandled allegations and didn't really investigate what went wrong. that hearing is going to take place july 10th. now a live desk update. >> from the live desk this morning, there is an all out man hunt in venezuela right now for the militants behind what the country's president is calling a thwarted terrorist attack. happened overnight.

you can see the intense police reaction in this new video out of caracas. a militant group fired grenades out of a helicopter near the president's location. at least two of the grenades did not detonate. no injuries have been reported. they released this footage before the attack saying they wanted to topple venezuela's tyrannical government. forces now trying to capture that militant group. reggie? developing news, senate republicans now delaying the vote to repeal and replace the carolthe affordable care act. gop leaders were unable to get the votes to bring it to the floor for discussion. janay norman has the latest. >> reporter: a major reverse value from senate republicans. >> i expect to have the support and, yes, we will vote this week. >> reporter: abandoning all help of passing a health care bill

before the july 4th recess. >> we won't have a bill this week, but we're looking towards getting 50 people and a comfortable place. >> reporter: gop senators hung their heads when it became clear the votes simply weren't there. >> this will be great if we get it done, and if we don't get it done, it's just going to be something that we're not going to like, and that's okay. >> reporter: the deal cut behind closed doors and done up in secrecy was immediately met by fury. the analysis revealing 22 million more americans would be uninsured in ten years under the senate bill. 15 million more uninsured next year alone. and nearly $800 billion cut from medicaid. democrats united in their opposition held pictures outside the capitol of the americans they say would suffer as a result of the bill. >> this is not a bill of just paper and pencil. this is not just abstract

numbers. these are real people. >> reporter: republicans could only afford to lose two votes, but there are nine gop senators who say they cannot support this bill. now the republicans have pushed the vote until after the july 4th recess. it gives them more time to work on a new version of the bill that conservatives say doesn't cut enough and moderates say cuts too deeply. janay norman, abc news, washington. happening today, a terminally ill man who authorities say was on his way to the bay area to kill three doctors is scheduled to be in court to enter a plea. palo alto police say he was a stage 4 cancer patient who drove from visalia last month with the intention of killing the doctors. san jose chp officers stopped chen after his wife tipped off police he had taken off in a rental car. inside the car chp found the names and home addresses of the doctors, as well as two

handguns, mask, and note titled, "why do i kill," enlisting one of the reasons as revenge. three masked robbers hit the wells fargo in rossmoor shopping center at gunpoint and sped away in a stolen pickup truck. officers found the truck, they are asking for information to help track down the robbers. search is on for a pair of robbers that beat a man with a hammer and stole his ukulele. the crime happened sunday morning. one of the robbers started a conversation with the victim and a second man attacked him with a hammer. they took the ukulele, the man's cell phone, and also a backpack. he was not seriously hurt. investigators are now checking video and talking to witnesses hoping to find the cause of a crash between a muni bus and delivery truck. it happened during yesterday's evening commute in san francisco's castro district.

no one was seriously hurt, but both drivers and seven people on the bus were taken to a hospital. >> bus load of people, the weight of both vehicles, it could have been very bad, but it's very fortunate. everything was pretty much minor injuries. >> police say it appears the truck veered into the path of the 24 bus. nothing has been officially confirmed quite yet, so they are still working on that. plan in the works to try and destroy a toxic algae that's closed down an east bay swimming spot. abc 7 was at lake temescal where warnings went up yesterday, blue-green algae releasing toxins into the waters that can kill dogs, cause severe gast ro intestinal issues in some people. >> it's a problem. we have friends that used to come here and swim every day after school and now they don't come at all. >> the east bay regional parks

abc 7 mornings. >> it is 4:42, and this might seem kind of early, but happening tonight president trump is going to hold his first 2020 campaign fundraiser. it will take place just down the street from the white house at his own hotel. president trump's re-election efforts have already raised more than $7 million. he got that from small donations and merchandise sales. tonight's event marks trump's first solicitation of larger donors. tickets start at $35,000. proceeds will be split evenly between his re-election campaign and the republican party. another massive cyberattack is sweeping the globe and it freezes computers and demands a ransom to open them. among the american targets are the giant merck pharmaceutical company in new jersey, a major

multinational law firm in los angeles, and possibly the mandelas food company, which produces oreo cookies, also in europe and asia. researchers say the attack uses a windows flaw to spread through the corporate networks, and there is one thing you can do to help keep your computer safe. >> from time to time you get that pesky reminder in the corner automated updates, click it, install those. a lot are important security updates that are going to protect you. >> yesterday's attack was similar to another attack in april that crippled tens of thousands of computers around the globe. thousands of employees in san francisco are eagerly looking forward to this weekend when the minimum wage goes up to $14. >> but the hike is still not enough to keep up with the cost of living in the bay area. >> minimum wage goes up to $14 saturday, july 1st. >> reporter: saturday can't come soon enough for a lot of san francisco's minimum wage earners.

right now it's $13 an hour, which means many who work in restaurant kitchens and retail, or as drivers, work multiple jobs to afford life in the city. >> still not enough for many working class communities and many people still can't afford to live at $14 an hour in san francisco. >> reporter: wage activists are fighting for more. that's why in 2018 san francisco's minimum wage will jump to $15 an hour. >> i am a litt about it. >> reporter: i think if you're a small business owner in san francisco, it can be detrimental the way you're going to lose some of your staff, you're going to have to cut your payroll to make up the difference, you know, people might work less hours now. >> reporter: it's a possibility that worries some who live and work in san francisco. >> it shows up on the paycheck, it does help, but living here in

downtown, prices are -- it's expensive as it is. >> reporter: but any increase will help. he says he'll use the money for rent, to pay his cell phone, and to save for his family. in san francisco, abc 7 news. water front buildings in san francisco, the state land commission and the city have disagreed at times, but happening today a court case that could really clarify things. attorneys for the state land commission and city of san francisco will go before a judge. the state filed a lawsuit three years ago after voters approved proposition "b," requiring voter approval for any water front project that exceeds the city's height limit. well, the state says you can't do that. they argue state law trumps local law. interestingly, this suit pits

gavin newsome against the city he once was mayor. uber made it easier to request rides for other people. here's how it works, when a user requests a pick up at a spot at a location, the app is going to ask if the ride is for a family member or friend and the user has to select a rider's name from your address book and put in the destination just like you always would. the rider is going to get a text notification that the driver is coming. the requesting user's account will be billed for the trip. that could be very useful if you're ordering a ride for your parents, for example. >> yeah, i've had to do that before. just have to keep checking my phone to make sure they got there and they have the information. so very handy. >> that could be a good thing. >> maybe if you're meeting up with someone to go wind surfing or something today. >> how would that work out, mike? >> really well, especially after 1:00. i'll show you the small craft advisory coming up in about seven minutes. focusing in on the seven-day

forecast, starting looking at san rafael, cloudy and 56 degrees, faster sunshine, which starts our slow warming trend. clouds come back and bring us patchy drizzle, a summer spread this weekend as 60s at the coast and 90s inland. here's a look at the cloud cast for 7:00. all of our neighborhoods pretty much under a gray canopy. noon, there may be a few patchy clouds, still that finger of fog rolling through the golden gate and clouds at the coast. in fact, clouds are more stubborn than they have been all week while the rest of us will be dealing by sunshine. let's see what it does to your temperatures. 73 in milpitas, los gatos, low 80s. afternoon sunshine in santa cruz, the brightest spot along the coast, 72. 66 today. temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s at the coast. 64 in downtown san francisco. north bay valleys about 76.

while i was on a combat patrol my c in baqubah, iraq,nned out. a rocket-propelled grenade took my arm off at the shoulder. when i came home, i felt alone. my family was around me, but i couldn't talk to them about what i'd seen and what i'd done. i remember just thinking, man, the way i am right now, i don't want to live. i was discharged from the army, and i've been working with the wounded warrior project since 2007. warriors don't have to be severely wounded to be with the wounded warrior project.
