>> some people have estimated this haul to be worth 30, 40, $50,000. >> reporter: big bucks while averting an outcome that's priceless. >> this shoots out at high speed. it hit a child, it's going to be really bad. >> reporter: today they assisted a gang investigations unit where investigators found an assault rifle along with all these illegal fireworks. at a mechanics shop a motorcycle club meetup. the ones in hayward were for sale on craigslist. >> investigators finding what appeared to be a fireworks laboratory. they say often these fireworks are even more dangerous than the explosives the bomb squad typically handles. >> the fireworks are always sensitive to heat shock and friction. >> reporter: the fireworks safely disposed.

reported his engine failed. the plane crashed while the pilot tried to land at an airport. faa investigators are looking into this morning's crash. blue-green algae has been found in several bay area lakes and waterways and been linked to the deaths of two dogs in southern napa county. the dogs swam this a pond within the last week. it's most common in pets but children and adults can also experience liver, kidney and nervous system injuries if they swallow affected water. traffic backed up as responders blocked the far right lane on the interstate. that's one of several grass fires in the bay area this week. three of them burn in san jose

these signs are all over the presidio warning people about the coyotes. they become quite a nuisance to a lot of people even though right now presidio believe there's only six coyotes in the park. never before seen footage of coyotes captured on cameras. all part of the monitoring program that jonathan young has been using to track the coyote's population for the past year. >> trying to understand these animals, their movements, their use of the park, how many are here. >> reporter: a big reason for the program increased concern about dog and coyote interactions. young says they have had several dozen reports of encounters this spring and summer. >> this is a big dog. he was chased just last month

actually. >> reporter: amy porter is a dog walker. she and her clients frequently see them in the presidio especially during the pupping season. >> reporter: a time when the coyote parents are extra careful of their new pups. >> the coyotes parental protective behavior overrides their fear of people trying to scare the coyote away because the coyote just wants the dog away from the pups. >> reporter: along with daily collar tracking, he's using gps monitoring to learn where they spend time. the information allows them to close parts of the presidio near areas the coyote's frequent. >> that created a buffer from where the pups were to where the dogs were and conflict subsided. >> reporter: many of the coyotes leave the presidio like this 1-year-old that was hit by car and killed on 280 last year.

apoll gi apollegists. supporters say he was following a probation recommendation when he sentenced turner. the judge wrote california law requires every judge to consider rehabilitation and probation for first time offenders. it's not always popular but it's the law. i took an oath to follow it without regard to public opinion or my opinions as a former prosecutor. supporters need about 60,000 signatures to get it on the june 2018 ballot. valero refinery announced it's suing pg&e. they claim they shut down all electricity to the plant on may 5th. the refinery lost power for about 18 minutes which resulted in flairing and the release of large plumes of smoke. valero is seeking $75 million in to refinery equipment, lost revenue. pg&e didn't respond to our request for comment.
