traffic is moving again on interstate 80 through san pablo after two deadly crashes this morning on same stretch of the highway. thanks for joining us. i'm kristein sze. the chp is asking for help finding a yellow semi truck believed to be involved in the second crash. it was a hit-and-run that took place at san pablo dam road moments after investigators and crews cleared the scene of another fatal crash just yards away. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson is live from oakland chp with the latest. tiffany? >> reporter: kristen, i'm going to talk about the first crash because the contra costa county coroner identified the female driver who died in that accident

as 25-year-old richmond. >> this backup from a single car accident where a young woman in a hond, accord spun out and came to a stop facing the wrong direction. a dodge charger hit her as she was getting out of her car. >> i think that the young lady that passed away, that she possibly could have survived if she had been in the vehicle at the time of the collision. >> reporter: two people in the charger were transported to the hospital. chp cleared the scene around 6:10 this morning. just a few minutes later they were called to a second fatal accident a few hundred yards away from the first. >> there is another solo collision involving a motorcycle and a semi. the semi made unsafe lane change into the motorcycle and the motorcycle lost control and the driver got ejected from the motorcycle. >> reporter: he was pronounced dead at the scene. the big rig initially pulled over and then drove off. >> we had one witness describe the truck as a red semi, and

another as a yellow box track. >> reporter: traffic reporter alexis smith discussed secondary accidents this morning. >> you have standstill traffic for so long, everyone is anxious to get moving again. people take off, maybe not paying attention and we get the secondary crashes, too. >> reporter: the officer says chp typically responds to secondary fender benders. this is the first time he's seen back-to-back fatal accidents on the same stretch of road. now my photographer steve and i drove past that second accident shortly after it happened, and steve remembers seeing a yellow cab and a blue trailer on that semi truck that was initially pulled over to the side and then fled the scene. so, again, a couple of conflicting report of what the semi truck looked like but chp is asking for everyone's help in finding it. we know a yellow cab is what most witnesses are reporting so please be on the lookout. live at chp headquarters in oakland, tiffany wilson, abc 7

news. >> tiffany, thank you. president trump is taking aim at the media once again today ahead of his first fourth of july in the white house. critics say his latest round of controversial tweets could incite violence. abc 7 news reporter has more from washington. >> the fake media tried to stop us from going to the white house, but i'm president and they are not. >> reporter: president trump stepping up his anti-media rhetoric, some saying taking it a step further, tweeting a doctored video of a cnn smack-down showing him body-slamming an opponent with the face covered by the news channel's logo. ahead of independence day celebrating the birth of america and all its freedoms, the president taking aim at the free press. >> this is the fourth of july weekend. the declaration of independence is pretty clear. >> the president of the united states is inciting violence against the free press. >> reporter: cnn issued a statement saying it is a sad day when the president of the united states encourages violence

against reporters. clearly, sarah huckabee sanders lied when she said the president had never done so, and in the midst of last week's bipartisan backlash over the president tweeting personal attacks against the hosts of "morning joe," the white house deputy press secretary had this to say. >> the president in no way, form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence of anything. quite the contrary. >> reporter: but this was then candidate trump on the campaign trail. >> not the crap out of them, would you. like to punch them in the face, i'll tell >> you toys ridiculous, right. everybody is kind of flabbergasted. you know, he ought to stop doing it. >> reporter: this morning the president again took aim at the media on twitter all while he has a busy week ahead, talking with the leaders of france and germany before an overseas trip where he'll deliver an address at the g-20 summit. >> the long wait is just about over for people wanting to get behind the model of tesla's free

sedan and it will start rolling off the assembly line on friday. more live from from outside tesla's san jose ceo with new words from ceo elon musk. >> reporter: i spoke with a tesla employee and he expects to get the model 3s for display here at the showroom by the end of the summer, but some customers could be driving off with their model 3s by the end of the month. it's being called the tesla car for the masses. the first model 3 is about to roll off the assembly line. >> i would love to have one. >> reporter: ceo elon musk said model 3 passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule. expected to complete sn1 on friday. that stands for serial number 1. last year hundreds and hundreds of people across the bay area stood in long lines to put $1,000 down for a reservation. musk toyses is la will soon deliver. the handover party for the first

30 customer model 3s is scheduled for july 28th. then production will go up. he says august should be 100 cars, september 1,500, and by december 20,000 cars per month. why such a high demand. >> reporter: tesla's model 1 demand starts $70,000 and the model 1 is about the half not including a $7,500 car credit. the sedan will get 1,500 miles per charge. it will go from 0 to 60 in under six seconds. >> it's a henry ford vision, mass produced automobile with an electric twist to it. >> reporter: reservations for model 3s are being taken online, but did i talk to a tesla employee who told me if you make that reservation now you likely won't get that delivered delived

couple years. >> thanks, matt. after a cloudy start, the sun starting to come out. of a live look outside from our camera on the top of mt. tam there. you can see a layer still and meteorologist mike nicco is here with a look at the pre-fourth of july forecast. >> can't call it clear just yet. starting to get sunny, especially inland and most of the bay. parts of the beaches where i know you want to flock to those. look at how cloudy it is in santa cruz. thought we'd start there. mainly gray and cool with santa cruz at 66, one of the warm spots, places like half moon bay. places like 56 degrees. relaxing outside. extreme sunshine and the bay is north of the bay bridge and east of the golden gate bridge. there you see from is being this afternoon to this evening. all the areas shaded in yellow. right now it looks pretty nice out there from the explortorium and that's where the sunshine is coming out. 77 around the coast and then we drop back into the 50s and 60s

and 70s by 8:00. a full look at your fireworks forecast coming up. >> all right, mike. thank you. new this morning, an east bay strike team is on its way to the central valley to join the battle against a raging wildfire in fresno county. the alameda county fire department tweeted the pictures showing firefighters putting their gear together in castro valley. the fire is burning pest of collingea and the derrick fight broke out in a secluded area around 10:00 last night. no evacuations so far. the wildfire has destroyed more than 1,500 acres. a fire captain explains why pinpointing the cause will be a challenge. >> first report is over 500 acres, so trying to determine exactly where the point of origin for the fire is. it will take time for the investigators, for sure. >> ground crews hope to get help from water dropping air tankers today. as of now, the fire is 20% contained. a fire station in east contra costa county has been

forced to close again just ahead of the high fire danger period of july 4th. this is the fourth time in five years the station has closed. it's expected to increase response times for fire and medical calls for people living in five cities, beth el island, knightsen, brentwood and the fire district is out of water and can't maintain full fully staffed stations. three stations remain open. >> i think it's crazy they will set down the fire department one week before the busiest time of the year for them. i mean, these fire trucks are in and out of this place all day and night long. >> if there's a foyer going on here how long will it take for r response. >> this is in response to voters turning down three ballot measures. it will cost you more to cross the golden gate bridge in san francisco k.as of this morning the toll went up 25 cents to

18 people died today in a bus crash in southern germany. police say the bus was carrying a tour group of seniors when it crashed into a tractor trailer and burst no a flames. the crash happened in stop-and-go traffic caused by construction along the main highway linking bavaria and berlin. and an investigation is under way to see why a plane burst into flames after landing in denver. the engines were on fire and passengers taking pictures. the plane had just finished its flight from aspen to denver. the fire broke out while the plane was taxying to the gate. fire fighters were there in seconds to put out the flames. nobody was hurt. backyard barbecues are a fourth of july tradition, but there are some hidden dangers that come with the fun gatherings. abc's geo benitez has more on how you can stay safe while grilling. >> reporter: check out this

raging inferno caused by a barbecue left unattended. a utah home destroyed in minutes. in massachusetts a father's day cookout turned into a near disaster when a propane grill fire spread through this house. the family managed to get to safety before the deck burned away. >> grill fire extended to the second and third floor of the rear of the building, traveled throughout the attic. >> reporter: according to the national fire protection association one of the leading causes of these fires, dirty grills, built-up food and fat leading to flash fires. >> not supposed to do that. >> reporter: grease fires are up predictable and can quickly become out of control if you're not paying attention. >> you're multitasking, maybe watching children and other family members. also enjoying the outside. people are not being able to focus on that grill. >> reporter: chief scott goldstein heads montgomery county fire and rescue in maryland and demonstrates how this grill fire takes on a life of its own in a matter of seconds and says this is the

last thing to do if it happens to you. >> applying water makes the fire grow. >> reporter: use baking soda instead or simply close the lid. now in this demonstration the chief shows us what could happen if a charcoal grill gets knocked over. >> this could be weeds and grasses. tlt could also be your patio furniture. >> reporter: watch how quickly the charcoal burns from the straw. it goes from this to this in less than 30 seconds. >> reporter: this is the time when you to want to use water sore keep a garden hose or a bucket of water handy. >> that was geo benitez reporting. the u.s. fire administration says to stay close to your grill whenever it's lit and keep children and pets at least three feet away. tennis star venus williams became visibly upset at a press conference after her win today when she was asked about a deadly car crash she was involved in last month. >> really no words to describe like how devastating and --

a couple who recently moved from southern california to portland, oregon, say they feel threatened after waking up to this graffiti on their they scratched and damaged the couple's car. on saturday he argued with a man who raced down the street. >> other than this little instance, the city is great, the community is great, so it's just unfortunate when, you know, you have people who are frustrated that this is how they express it. >> anti-california sentiment in portland have been going on for decades. portlanders blame out-of-towners for rising rents and cost of living and a few weeks ago police responded to a report of women handing out cards telling californians to go home. >> on a lighter note, let's open up the weather window on our roof camera and show you what's

going on on the embarcadero. the flags are unfurled at the ferry building and it will keep the temperatures from getting out of hand. seasonal highs. cloud toe foggy, a little drizzle especially at the coast this morning and that will happen the next couple of nights and subtle changes most of the week. let's talk about our temperatures right now. you can see the areas with sunshine first. brentwood 77 and san ramon 82 and 70 in novato and 68 hayward and san mateo and san francisco about 61 degrees. here's what's going to happen. upper 70s to low 80s south bay. 82 in san jose and morgan hill and the 66 i talked about the top of the show at santa cruz. 69 in millbrae and 73 spread on the peninsula and 56, there you go, half moon bay, pacifica the warm spot and downtown san francisco a couple more degrees of warming left. 64h.stenson beach and bodega beach upper 60s.

marin county fair, just opened in san rafael at 69 degrees. sunshine and 59 at 3:00. fireworks are at 9:30. we'll be dropping into the 50s by then. let's head over to the east bay where we've got 69 in berkeley and 70 in oakland and 69 in fremont. fireworks also at the coliseum so the game starts a little bit earlier. 7:05 first pitch. 66 dropping down to about 59 degrees. white sox in town. hopefully the a's can rebound from that sweep by the braves. 82 in san ramon to near 990 in brentwood. a little warmer inland and when the temperatures fall back into the 50s hopefully you can capture that. alameda county fair starting at 3:00. watch out for the extreme sunshine and a tribute band under the stars in the 60s. temperatures 52 to 57 degrees. a quick look at tomorrow down on the shore line where it's a wonderful san francisco symphony there, all the fireworks and

we're tracking live breaking news out of boston. a taxi has crashed into a group of people you're looking at the scene of massachusetts state police say there's injuries ranging in severity. no word whether they are investigating this as terrorism, but you can see from the live picture emergency crews there as well. the incident happened actually near a taxi pool near boston logan airport. the "boston globe" reports at least nine people are hurt. the driver is cooperating with police. coming up on "abc 7 news at 4:00, fireworks and the 4th. it can be a blast and not always for pets. what you can do to deep your pets safe. is b.a.r.t.'s new plan to prevent thefts next? >> happy dogs love pelly rubs and so do happy doll fun.
