toll plaza here and betting to see the metering lights today. looking at drive times in less than ten. >> thank you. developing news in the south bay, firefighters knocked down a big fire in san jose. flames could be shooting into the sky after 2:30 this morning. san jose fire officials say the building used to be a dentist's office and now just boarded up and abandoned. no one was hurt in the fire and no word on a cause. frustration and even a big fight at a bay area fireworks display. put a damper on the holiday. >> police made a number of arrests at the alameda county fair last night. tiffany wilson live to tell us about the scuffle. hey, tiffany. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. police arrested at least ten people for fighting last night here at the fairgrounds. we have video of two of those individuals as they were led away in handcuffs and then we also have some cell phone video of another two girls who were handcuffed.

the sheriff's office said everyone arrested between 15 and 20 years old. officers even had to use pepper spray and batons to break up the m melee. >> we used pepper spray and that was the result of so many people being involved and the acts of violence that we were seeing were going to progress into potentially a mob mentality. >> reporter: now, violence during the fourth of july is not without precedent. in 1998, a shooting incident wounded eight people and sent people running. eight more fair goers were injured trying to get out of way. last night's issues limited to fighting and no one seriously injured. the juveniles in custody mostly released to parents. the adults went to jail. live in pleasanton, tiffany wilson, abc7 news. ♪ well, those that made it to

the alameda county fair enjoyed this show. 35,000 to 40,000 people were there and they say thousands missed out because at 6:00 p.m. the fair gates were closed. it was a planned move to cut down on crowd congestion. officials say those who paid for tickets online but still were not allowed in can always use the tickets on a different day. the fair runs through sunday. illegal fireworks portion of the evening. a lot of you heard this throughout the night. the rogue fireworks displays exploded over san francisco's north beach neighborhood a half hour before the official show and we have heard about similar situationses in bay area. >> and also seeing the situations crews putting out small fires because of the fireworks. vale jo say this fire was caused by fireworks starting in vegetation at turner parkway

just after a 9:30 last night. we have been taking calls all night of other small fires like this one in places of oakland and san jose. as for the official celebrations, fog clearly played a role in san francisco's fireworks show. >> these look like ufos that landed over the embarcadero. the party at pier 39 got some mixed reviews. >> reporter: san francisco's fireworks lit a mostly foggy sky over the bay. the crowd came to celebrate but some felt cheated. >> when we saw the first firework shoot off, we were like, oh, really not exciting. you know? >> two hours of traffic and then three hours to find parking and then half of the fireworks are kind of cut off from the fog. >> reporter: still everyone came for a good time. >> i seen san francisco, amazing things always happen. >> reporter: everyone includes a diverse group of pets, elvis and a visitor from down under. >> driving into this port, magic. we have been waiting to get here for sometime. >> reporter: john williams

morning, new detail comesing in on the deadly police shooting in new york city. nypd identified the suspect as 34-year-old alexander bonds, apparently a career criminal. investigators say bonds shot and killed 12-year nypd veteran officer miosotis familia. she was sitting in a police car and he shot her through the window. others shot and killed bonds blocks away. officials say the shooting was unprovoked. officer familia posted in the neighborhood in response to a recent shooting. new developments of north korea with a video overnight of what it says was an intercontinental ballistic missile launch. the leader says the launch was a fourth of july gift to the trump administration and promises more to come. the u.s. army and south korea are responding with a volley of short range missiles into waters office korean peninsula

always have their back. happening today, san francisco's so-called hot cop of the castro returns to court for additional charges this stemming from a hit and run crash in 2015. investigators believe that chris coors left the scene after the dodge charger hit two men. a judge ruled that coors will stand trial. prosecutors added a new charge of hit and run against coors he remains free on bail. daly city police hope someone recognizes this woman accused of battery on a store employee because they wouldn't take back items she bought there. it happened friday afternoon in west lake center. police are just releasing this information. police say the suspect tried to return items without a receipt. when the employee refused to take items back, this woman apparently threw candy at the employee and slapped the person in the face. a mystery spanning across california, a fire utility truck stolen in socal ended up in san francisco. investigators found this truck

yesterday afternoon in the dog patch neighborhood. the truck was taken from the oxnard fire department on monday. they have not made any arrests. this is a big milestone. new this morning, volvo appears to be the first car manufacturer to end all production of gas only vehicles. volvo says it's fazing out gas only car production by 2019. it'll only produce fully electric or electric hybrid cars from now on and three fully electric cars by 2021 part of the goal to sell a million electric if ied cars by 2025. a new service promises that you can make money by parking your car at the airport. >> and then someone else can save a few bucks by renting it and driving it around while you're out of town. some people describe travel car as an airbnb for vehicles. travel car relyes on an app to match owners with renters and travel car insures the vehicle. and also gets washed and

we have had that three to four-car collision blocking the far left lane for about going on 45 minutes here and it did just totally clear off to the shoulder so we have a backup. 14 miles per hour average and i think cleared early enough to bounce back. also, still looking at light traffic volumes here. just a few vehicles heading through on the westbound side this morning and bart improving, as well. we had some unscheduled track maintenance causing about a ten-minute delay and wrapped it up. normal service is resuming. >> thank you. the federal securities fraud trial of so-called pharma bro continuing tonight in new york. >> here's abc's lindsay davis. >> reporter: this morning, just one day after prosecutors asked a judge for a gag order infamously pharmaceutical ceo martin shkreli was on the

prosecutors said he embarked on a campaign of disruption surprising reporters in court in the trial for charges of securities fraud. calling the prosecution junior varsity saying his attorney brought down the house against them. the prosecution is also asking the court to ban shkreli from social media. the attorney objected but outside court friday told cnbc he should stick to the right to remain silent. >> i would very much appreciate it if he didn't talk to the press. >> reporter: at 7:00 a.m., nancy grace weighs in live on the case with your gma first liook, i'm lindsay davis, abc news news, new york. take a look at police in florida rescuing a dog from a hot car. officers said they couldn't find the owner. it was at least 110 degrees inside. they found the pit bull in the

and 34-year-old alexander bonds walked up to her and shot her. bonds was killed by other officers a few minutes later. at this point there is no word on motive for the attack. another person was hit during the shootout between the suspect and police. that person is expected to survive. new developments in the deadly hit and run in concord that killed two young boys. their 3-month-old brother who survived the crash has had a setback. family spokesperson tells us the infant is in critical condition after suffering several seizures. the wreck on highway 4 killed the child's two brothers on friday night and their mother is recovering from injuries. the suspect was arrested after going to the hospital to be treated for his own injuries. and he is now charged with vehicular homicide. crews are letting a large hay fire in brentwood burn itself out on deer valley road between kaiser hospital and ball four road. they're getting help of cal fire on this this morning.

they say there's no water supply out in that area so crews had to bring in their own water trucks. two units on scene this morning and in case there's a spot fire in the surrounding hills. officials say $25,000 worth of hay is destroyed in the fire. talking about the illegal fireworks that people were setting off throughout the area. santa cruz with some -- and south bay definitely had some, as well and a cleanup of people enjoying the beach yesterday. >> abc7 news reporter matt keller live in santa cruz. hey, matt. >> reporter: yes. natasha and reggie, thousands of people enjoying the beaches here for the fourth of july holiday. the party is now over. everybody has gone home. all that's left now is the cleanup. save our shores is stepping up to help out along with a couple of hundred volunteers. called the star spangled cleanup. taking place at 11 heavily visited beaches here. last year 252 volunteers with

investigation. our tower cameras captured illegal fireworks in san jose. we told you last year this year the city asking the community to get the word out that all fireworks were illegal and urging people to put up signs in the yards that sent out the message. obviously, some people didn't get the message or just didn't get the message or just didn't care. neighbors reported illegal fireworks in petaluma last night. police declined to tell us how many calls they got. fireworks mishap caused a man to suffer what newark police describe as, quote, horrific injuries. it happened along port sailwood drive near interstate 880 in thornton avenue. police say he was lighting a mortar type of firework in a tube and the, ploesive went off before he got away from it. the man is treated at a trauma center. hundreds of thousands of people got to the organized fireworks show around the bay area. take a look.

stopped flames from reaching homes after a wildfire broke out east of los angeles. you're looking at video of fire fighting helicopter dropping fire in roweland heights. the flames burned about two acres. crews have the fire 60% contained. so far, nobody has been asked to leave their homes. investigators haven't said what sparked last night's fire. another wildfire northeast of reno right now. it's threatening 58 buildings including at least 11 homes. officials are telling people that they should evacuate if they see the flames from their house. the fire broke out just after 6:00 last night. firefighters reported it's burned 2,000 acres so far. they say it could have grown more if the winds were stronger. the fire's now 10% contained. in pleasanton, investigators trying to figure out what caused this small grass fire a. local business sent us this video. the flames about 3:30 yesterday afternoon near interstate 680. quick action stopped it from

spreading. san francisco's police commission set to vote on clarifying how officers comply with the city's sanctuary policy. this follows paying out $190,000 to an undocumented immigrant accusing police of informing federal authorities of the immigration status. the revised policies prohibit officers from stopping or questioning someone solely based on the immigration status. it also restricts when they can cooperate with agencies like i.c.e. all right. off to a gray tart this morning. see the bay bridge packed compared to yesterday. alexis will be in in a second with the morning commute. commuting weather-wise. on the bay, north of the bay bridge, a small craft advisory today. mass transit, afternoon sunshine after clouds and a touch of drizzle this morning. on the roads, i didn't need the windshield wipers and a little bit of drizzle in san francisco. that's how light it is. about 50 to 55 degrees through the north bay.

driving down 58th avenue near tevis street 6:40 monday night police say another driver nearly backed into him. the two exchanged words and then they started fighting. the suspect pulled a gun and shot the 23-year-old in the leg. police found the gunman's car later but he wasn't there. police and crime stoppers offering up to $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. tourists of course flocking to san francisco this summer but so are predators. specifically, car burglars. there's been a huge spike in auto burglaries, especially in the central district of downtown san francisco. police say there are more than 200 car burglaries in the city every month. the crookediest street in the world is a magnet for smash and grab but warning signs are everywhere. >> we have two teams that work full-time to counter the auto burglaries and they make arrests every other day so in the last two months i can safely safe

i have a couple new issues to talk about here. nothing significant yet and maybe causing a little bit of a delay. southbound 880 at state route 238. brush fire. sounds like a fire is tapped out. just very slight delay and maybe onlooker delay coming from castro valley. also a quick check of the san mateo bridge. you can see some heavier volumes today. we briefly had a disabled semi near the high-rise. that cleared a couple of minutes after it was reported so just a little bit of a delay and that should thin out fairly quickly. and some drive times looking good. westbound 80 highway 4 to the maze, 19 minutes. 11 across the bay bridge and 101 san francisco to sfo nine minutes. another update just before 6:00. >> thank you. a hitman for hire? new at 6:00, the acting job posted on craigslist that was an international mission for murder. first, a fiery explosion outside of the apartment complex, why a man intentionally

authorities in colorado defending the decision to kill that bear that broke into a house. it happened in colorado springs. the bear got into the fridge and then trashed the kitchen and rummag rummaged through bedrooms. officers tracked the bear and euthanized it. they say the last bear was in a garage in the same area and posed too much of a threat to people to be let loose.

charlie carried her out. >> oh my god! >> oh. and this was no accident. according to police. a car exploded inside an apartment building in florida. the driver died at the scene. everyone else is okay. police say he intentionally crashed into the building hoping to blow it up. police say this was a domestic dispute targeting a woman inside the building. player for the san jose earthquakes is in critical condition this morning after nearly drowning in lake tahoe. matheus silva is on loan to reno. the 20-year-old midfielder had to be pulled out of the water while swimming yesterday. emergency crews performed life saving resuscitation on scene. paramedics took him to a nearby hospital in tahoe and air lifted him to reno. people counting on watching the fireworks from the "uss hornet" had to make other plans. they had to cancel the event last night.
