amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. new this morning, president trump praised america's alliance with poland. this follows a face-to-face meeting with poland's president. they spoke about the threats posed by north korea. emily tells us more from washington. >> the two presidents meeting at the royal castle in warsaw, president trump offering the reassurance poland was looking for, affirming his commitment to nato. >> america is committed to maintaining peace and security in central and eastern europe. >> president trump responded to a question about north korea. >> but we must also confront the threat from north korea. and that's what it is, it's a threat. and we will confront it very strongly. >> as for what will be done, no specifics. but saying there will be consequences. the president also touching on russia's election meddling. >> well, i think it was russia

and it could have been other people in other countries. could have been a lot of people interfered. >> still no definitive answers, but accusing president obama of doing nothing about it, claiming he thought hillary clinton would win, and president trump giving no indication whether or not he would address the issue in his friday sit-down with putin. he will be addressing the people of poland before he leaves for germany. he will then meet with the german chancellor along with leaderoffs japan and south korea before the day is over. >> at the live desk, new images coming in of what's greeting president trump in poland. greenpeace protesters projected these. the slogans read no trump, yes paris, and planet earth first. protesters already gathering in germany. this is the scene last night. police expect about 5,000 protesters to greet world leaders arriving for the summit.

>> the police department needs your help in identifying a robbery suspect. investigators released these videos. he violently beat a victim while robbing a gas station. he got away in a red or maroon dodge caravan with tinted windows. >> a federal judge has rejected an effort from the city of vallejo to toss out a lawsuit in the denise huskins kidnapping case. she was drugged, kidnapped, and raped. matthew muller plid guilty to a charge. he held her hostage for two days before letting her go. vallejo police initially dismissed the crime as a hoax. they said they were defamed and suffered emotionally as a result. they want the police department to be held accountable for its actions. >> a volunteer for a small san francisco church remains in custody this morning on charges he sexually assaulted two 18-year-old brothers. the man helped at a small o cf1o protestant and evangelical

church. the church pastor and members of the congregation showed up in court in a show of support. he invited the brothers to stay in his house after they ran into family issues. >> he brought them to his home where they stayed with him when they were going through hard times. it's alleged at that location, he committed various sex acts upon them. >> he's accused of assaulting the men after they consumed drugs and were unconscious. he remains in jail on $750,000 bail. >> another embarrassment for united airlines this morning. it's apologizing to a passenger who was forced to give up the seat she bought for a 2-year-old son. they were flying from houston to boston. she paid nearly $1,000 for the ticket, but another passenger came up and said he was assigned to her son's seat. she held her son on her lap for the entire flight because she said she didn't want to cause a

scene. >> i had him in all these contorted sleeping positions. in the very end, sadly, he was standing up between my knees. >> she says not a single airline employee on the flight asked her why she had a child sitting on her lap. a statement from united says we inaccurately scanned the boarding pass of the son. as a result, her son's seat appeared to be not checked. we deeply apologize to her and her son for this experience. >> called to san francisco's nonemergency number to report illegal fireworks more than doubled from last year. the 311 line got more than 1100 calls between 7:00 p.m. and midnight. it got over 500 last year. a lot of people complained illegal fireworks seemed worse this year than in the past. >> the highway patrol says at least 47 people died in collisions in california through the independence holiday enforcement period. many of the victims were not wearing seat belts.

officers made more than 1,200 dui arrests. 193 were in the golden gate division. a newark teen faces a long recovery from injuries he suffered in a fireworks explosion. police say he and friends were setting off illegal fireworks tuesday night. that's when one of the devices exploded. video from a neighbor shows the teen suffered burns to his body in addition to the injury to his hand which police say was left badly disfigured. >> happening today, a big step in repairing the damaged spillway at the oroville dam. crews will begin installing the first new slabs of concrete. it will play a key role in repairing the spillway. part of it failed in february as lake oroville swelled with water. sections of the spillway eroded and forced massive evacuations. >> let's talk about your commute as several of us have to head back to work this morning. you can see the san mateo

hi, again. here's a look from the east bay hills camera. more sunshine and warmth today. even the coast will partake in this a little bit. hottest highs tomorrow, but we'll still be above average for most of us through the weekend. notice the breeze is a lot calmer as high pressure is sitting on top of us. here's the winds on top of live doppler 7. only about 17 in fairfield right now. let's talk about downtown san francisco. all week, we have been around 64 degrees. now we're back to average, about 69. a little cooler in daly city. 61. the mission, 66. on the other side of the bay, oakland, 74. pretty mild for now as most of the temperatures are in the mid to upper 70s. berkeley, 73. fremont, 79. now, san mateo, 74. real nice. millbrae, 70. getting hotter, though, around palo alto at 80. half moon bay and pacifica, 63 and 65. warmer than yesterday. 84, warm sunshine in san jose. that 90, you can't help but not see that in gilroy. 93, los gatos.
