frpsh pretty successful firefight out here. talk about the difference an hour makes. those dark plumes of smoke are now gone. we have video to show you what it looked like earlier this afternoon. they said they were looking at 100 plus acres that were burning, despite the size of the burn, there was no structure threat, not even on the nearby refinery. more than 100 firefighters working on putting out the fire, those over head drops are really a well choreographed dance. we were listening to a lot of scanner radio traffic yesterday where those helicopter pilots were getting quite a lot of direction about what direction they should move in. no injuries in this fire but quite a skeptical for people live around here.

we saw a number of people who either stopped or live in a home nearby and looking at this fire in amazement, saying they had never seen one burning so closely to where they lived. >> we saw the black, then the traffic and then we started listening and we go we're out of here. came up, started looking. sort of interesting. >> and we run a machine shop that provides parts for the refineries. if it's something that hits a refinery, we could get a call. >> and that woman that you just heard from told me she did not get a call. there was no real threat to the refinery. and heavy traffic for people out here this afternoon and they pulled over and wanted to take a look at what was happening. but quite a difference out here over the last hour. those dark thick plumes of smoke are now gone.

we can hear and see a couple of helicopters over head but things looking better than when we checked in at 5:00. >> melanie, thank you. also happening now a grass fire still smoldering. three fires started around 2:30 this morning off of brentwood. the third is contained. nearly 300 acres were burned and had to be evacuated. the latest on our hot weather and fire danger. >> we're getting into the time of year where low humidity and gusty winds is a recipe for fires to quickly start and spread. we'll take you to relative humidity at 19%. and the winds are gusting at times to 16 miles per hour. we are very dry in terms of our atmosphere.

the -- family and friends of anthony nunez gathered outside san jose city hall today. his family members called 911 on the it fourth of july last year. they reported he was depressd and had a gun. >> iyou took a beautiful life. i don't know why you took guns when my son needed help. >> when they call and say i'm mentally distraught, that first action should not be deadly force. >> they say they fired after nunez pointed the gun on him. police in hayward are asking for help in helping a missing boy who has autism. he left his house around 8:00 this morning. he was last seen towards a street. he was wearing number 11 on the back. police are worried about his

breaking news in san jose. a viewer shared this video with us. a grass fire started just after 5:30. no homes are threatened. a raid on a marijuana grow turned into a shootout leaving a suspect in stable condition. the it grow was located off highland way. it's estimated 3,000 plants were found. on friday officers recovered pesticides, inhad secticides and fertilizers that are a threat to wildlife. they were air lifted to a bay area hospital. a world renowned rodeo is entertaining kids this weekend. in hayward at rowel ranch as members of the invitational rodeo performed in various events. it's in its 32nd year of calf roping and ladies barrel racing.

you're comfortably cool right along the coast. 68 in oakland. even 83 in san jose. but you move to the east a little bit more and we're still at 100 in brentwood. 95 in concord, livermore and napa still mild with a temperature of 83 degrees. plenty of stars out there. in fact the moon lit sky nicknamed the full thunder moon. you note this is cloud cover really limited to the coast. so that marine layer is very compressed right now, meaning inland locations will still hold in the 60s overnight tonight. future tracker temperatures and fog showing you by 7:00 in the morning there's that thin ribbon of fog but without that natural ac inland, from fair field to antioch, we're already into the 80s.
