the bay area's tennis community reacting to shocking allegations. a man trusted to coach kids now accused for a second time of molesting his own students. thanks for joining us today. i'm reggie aqui. kristen will be in later today. the man accused of the new crimes against kids has been in a courtroom facing similar accusations before. police tell us normandy burgos was arrested and they say he sexually assaulted his victims for years. amy hollyfield is live in richmond for us this morning. >> reporter: i smoke to a parent whose kids take lessons from this coach. he didn't want to talk on

camera, but over the phone he told me he is sad and surprised, calling the coach a good quality guy who created a fantastic tennis program. police say he's now in jail with bail set at $1.5 million. richmond police say normandie burgos thought he was motoring someone for a tennis lesson but was instead met by detectives who arrested him accused of sexually assaulting two teenage boys for two years. >> when detectives arrested him here at this tennis court yesterday, he almost seemed like he was resigned to the fact that he was caught, his demeanor. >> reporter: burgos has been accused before. in 2006 by leave it his tennis players in marin county. he was tried for child molestation and sexual battery. that the case ended in a hung jury. >> they are now mill valley and the district attorney over there in marin county looking into the

cases again to see whether or not they are going to go forward with retrying it. >> reporter: i'm terribly shocked and saddened by this experience. >> reporter: the vice president of the richmond tennis association. she says she has never seen burgos. she wants parents to know he was not authorized to teach here on the courts where he was arrested. >> i'm very surprised to hear this news and very disappointed because we're trying to make this safe and cost-effective place for children to play. >> reporter: i asked the parent if he had heard of the other accusations and the previous trial. he said he thought those were false accusations and figured since so many other parents had signed up for the camp that everything must be okay. he says he has now talked to his kids about what has happened, and that's the point police want to get across today, to talk to

your kids. if there are any other victims out there, police want to hear from them. live in richmond, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. a small fire is affecting muney service right now. our traffic reporter alexis smith is watching that for us. >> yeah. it's impacting one line right now. we're hearing this is a one-alarm structure fire, not too far from san francisco state. we've got the fire at randolph and ramsell impacting the m-oceanview muney line. we did get the all clear about 20 minutes ago from muney, that the outbound side was back open so just the inbound side is blocked. they do have some bus shuttles supplementing that service until they get the all clear. doesn't sound like it's something that will be blocking the entire afternoon. reggie? >> alexis, thank you. new details on a grass fire burning in the south bay. the phillippi fire has spread to 70 acres. the good news is it's 80%

contained. this broke out yesterday in san phillippi and metcalf road. everybody is okay and no homes, no structures are threatened. officials say it appears it started as a car fire and then spread to the dry grass. new this morning interstate 80 closed in both directions at the california-nevada state line. you can see the reason why. crews are worried about spot fires after a fire broke out yesterday near truckee. now to friday's massive fire in oakland. as federal investigators continue to search for a cause in that fireworks the atf has released new footage of a possible serial arsonist wanted for targeting another building just a short drive away. now that surveillance video that you see here, it captured a man putting on a hood and gloves moments before an apartment complex was set on fire in emoryville in may. the suspect is also seen scaling the building scaffolding on san pablo avenue. that fire destroy the construction project which also

burned before -- it actually burned a year ago last july. two dozen atf agents are now investigating friday's fire to see if that was arson. new this morning, hospital workers at stanford have released a report showing patient infections are big problem. the report claims stanford's infection rate is the worst among seven bay-area teaching hospitals. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson live in palo alto with those details. tiffany? >> reporter: yes, hi, reggie. the union president says the infection rate here at stanford isn't just bad in comparison to other bay-area hospital, it's actually among the lowest 25% of hospitals across the united states. >> i'm here today because i care about the patient safety. >> reporter: he's part of the workers union that says stanford has a higher infection rate than several other teaching hospitals. >> stanford is supposed to be a

world renowned hospital, just shocking. >> reporter: they attribute the high infection rate for understaffing and lack of training for house keepers. >> on a day-to-day basis, it seems like it's kind of a factory mentality. patients are pushed in, pushed out. everybody is rush, rush, rush. we short-staffed. housekeepers aren't given enough time to clean rooms. >> reporter: according to it the union, stanford scored far worse than the national benchmark for patients acquiring a highly contagious infection called c-dif. stanford university medical center says the union provided information is outdated and requests a new bargaining contract. >> the data that's provided is not current and does misrepresent the current situation here at stanford health care. >> reporter: and in a statement that stanford provided, they say that their infection rates have dramatically improved, and

especially this year, 2017, that they are on pace to do better than the industry benchmark, and so they say what the union has been bringing to light today is just no longer accurate. live at stanford university medical center, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. >> thank you, tiffany. the coast guard and several other agencies will begin to remove a sunken barge under the bay bridge. they were using the barge on the transbay tube when it got loose during a storm and sank in april. crews cut the barge into two pieces. they will use a crane to start lifting them to it the surface at noon. the recovery expected to take anywhere -- anywhere from 30 to 60 hours to complete. the coast guard is imposing an 11 hundred-foot safety zone for boaters around that recovery area. more than a million water users will find out if their rates are going to take a big jump. east bay mud directors are set to vote on an 18% rate hike.

rates would go up another 9% next july. east bay mud needs the money to pay for infrastructure improvements. the increases will affect 1.5 million water users in contra costa and alameda companies. this morning president trump's son donald trump jr. released a chain >> donald trump jr. taking to twitter releasing what he claims is the entire e-mail chain leading up to a meeting with a russian reporter with ties to the kremlin. in the message no message of russian adoptions but this from rob golden to. this is high sensitive max and part of russia and government support for mr. trump, end quote. this new information shedding light on the big question from

both sides, did the trump campaign work with russia to win the election and potentially break the law? >> collusion with russia is not a crime defined in t law, but there is campaign finance law. there's election law, and that law specifically says that a foreign national can't give something of value. >> reporter: donald jr. tweeting tuesday morning. media and democrats are extremely invested in the russia story. if this nonsense meeting is all they have after a year, i understand the desperation. senators on both sides now calling for everyone in that meeting to be interviewed, including donald jr., trump's sonl jared kushner and paul manafort and then chairman of the trump campaign. >> this is the first time that the public has seen clear evidence of senior level members of the trump campaign meeting with russians to try to obtain information that might hurt the campaign of hillary clinton. >> reporter: this release from

donald jr. is a huge development. he said he's willing to work with the senate intelligence committee to share what he knows but his lawyer maintains donald jr. did nothing wrong. emily rau, aches news, wshington. >> happening today, the largest lgtq organization in the country set to announce a funding campaign against president trump's agenda. the human rights campaign will set aside $26 million to help pro-lbgtq candidates win at all levels of government. the group's president says the power and determination of lbgtq voters and allies will continue to grow stronger in the face of discriminatory attacks on rights and freedoms. new details on plans to add an extra lane on the richmond san rafael bridge turns out might not happen until march. that's four months later than expected. according to our media partner the problem has to do with a retaining wall crews hope to push back 15 feet. the hope is to create a third lane to be used during the

this is quite a story. an airbnb host in the netherlands may end up facing attempted murder charges after shoving a guest down a flight of stairs. video of that incident is going viral. >> what are you doing with my things? >> out. >> oh, my god. >> now. >> oh, my god. >> oh, my god. >> can you imagine. the video was posted on the renter's facebook page. she says the host attacked her because she was late checking out of the apartment. she says the next thing she knew she woke up in the hospital with a concussion and bruises all over her body and face. media in the netherlands reports the suspect was arrested and

prosecutors are considering filing charges. critics are calling on airbnb to revoke the host's rights on the site. abc 7 reached out to airbnb. a company spokesman said we'll take the strongest actions we can against such abhorrent conduct including banning people for life from the platform. airbnb based right here in san francisco. new details on the military plane crash that claimed 16 lives. 15 marines and a navy corpsman were on board. here's a look at the wreck in rural, mississippi, just awful. the marines say the plane took off from north carolina headed for a naval airfield near san diego. so far no word on what may have caused that crash. many of the marines killed were from a unit based in new york. personal weapons and small arms ammunition were on board. new this morning, takata is issuing another air bag recall. this one affects nearly 3 million ford knee zan and mazda

vehicles. specific models and makes will be announced soon. new test data shows air bag inflators on the front driver's side could rupture. takata is not aware of any ruptures on the air bag inflaters. neither during the field nor lab testing. they are taking action as a precaution. making a bid to host the olympics. inside the pitch made to bring the games to l.a. and how soon the city of angels can get their answer and also beating breast cancer. the new tests that could give patients a better chance at successful treatment and a live look right

new developments involving l.a.'s push to host the summer olympics. los angeles and paris are both in switzerland this morning after making their final pitches overnight. there are two dates up for grabs. 2024 and 2028. both cities want 2024. now, paris says that if it gets it, it would make sense because it's been 100 years since it last hosted the olympic games. l.a. says it's ready to go right now. >> to be clear, we're competing for 2024. l.a. is ready to throw these olympics in two months if we are asked or two decades. we have are the infrastructure and the love and the vision. >> today the international olympic commit announced that itly ard water both sides the 2024 or 2028 olympics at a meeting in september. the president section pressing his support for l.a. in a tweet saying working hard to get the olympics for the united states. stay tuned. the last time the u.s. hosted the summer games was in atlanta in 1996. it has been a minute, hasn't it?
