us this morning, mike. >> a little soupy. >> explain yourself. >> a lot of gray out there in most areas, but a lot of sunshine coming. a typical pattern this time of year. the thing you'll notice is clouds are thicker, the marine layer is not quite as dry. three miles visibility in petaluma and santa rosa. that's not too bad as far as getting around. the sun is up. time to recharge. oh, let that sun come on in. temperatures, look at that. 7:00 this morning, 53 to about 61. by noon, we'll stay in the 50s at the coast. low to mid 70s, noon to 4:00 around the bay. 82 to 88 inland. we'll be back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s by 7:00. i'll have the latest numbers on the hot weekend coming up. here's alexis. >> good morning, mike. yeah, we're looking pretty socked in hire for golden gate bridge this morning. southbound 101 into san francisco okay. just hearing a the south end of robin williams tunnel, we have a disabled vehicle in lane three or four. that would be one of those couple right lanes. keeping a close eye on that.
6:01 am
i'll have an update if we have new information. westbound 580 tracy to dublin, 1:15. we just heard about a new vehicle blocking a lane. antioch to concord, 21, in the yellow. and southbound 101, san rafael to san francisco, even with the fog and disabled vehicle, you're still in the green at 16 minutes. that breaking news we have been following all morning long here from the live desk and on the scene. crews still putting water on a three-alarm fire that destroyed several businesses in lafayette. you can see our crews out there. this is a live image of what is happening right now. fire crews arrived to find the building engulfed in flames just before midnight, and this is at lafayette circle, not far from mt. diablo boulevard. they're still on scene. took them about 90 minutes to control the fire, and this is video from billy, one of our viewers. he filmed this from his patio. you can really see the bright orange flames and look at this video as well.
6:02 am
officials say there were nine businesses inside the building, including the city's chamber of commerce and an italian restaurant. damage estimated at more than $1 million. lafayette circle has been closed most of the morning. it is still closed right now. we'll keep you updated. back to you. >> thanks. new developments in the oakland police department sexual misconduct scandal. a federal judge has given the department two months to produce a detailed report explaining what they're doing to get back on track after the scandal involving a teenage girl named jasmine abuslin. he's also requiring the city to analyze the department's fails. four officers have been charged criminally. four punished internally. the city has until september 15th to turn in that report. >> a great white shark attack in santa cruz is not enough to keep people out of the water. >> swimmers and surfers ignoring signs and even the threat of fines. janeane deluvega is live for us in santa cruz. >> when you look out at the water, it's like what ban?
6:03 am
we counted about 16 surfers here in the water. sharks aren't stopping them. they're taking advantage of the less crowded water. and here's video that we took this morning of those surfers heading into the water at cowells beach. by going in, they're violating the ban imposed by the city. no one is allowed in the water within a mile of steamers lane. the city imposed the ban on tuesday morning after a shark attacked a kayak. the kayaker wasn't hurt, but the shark's jaw left a foot-long impression on the front of the kayak. surfers aren't scared. they say the sharks have always been there. good if you're always focused on that, you're going to spend a lot of time on your couch finding reasons not to do what you love to do. and if you want to do that, that's absolutely fine. but i don't think either of us are doing anything except honoring the animals that are in there, the grizzly bears of the sea. >> anyone who violated the ban can get a ticket for $200. the areas affected include the

main beach, cowells beach, and mitchell's cove. the ban is impacting neighbor businesses that defend on the traffic, but they should get relief soon because the ban will be lifted on saturday morning. reporting live from santa cruz, abc 7 news. >> we have new details on a lawsuit against san francisco city attorney dennis herrera. taxpayers are now on the hook for nearly $20 million connected to a case investigating him. earlier this month, a jury found the whistle blower was wrongfully fired from her job in herrera's office. she exposed a sewer scam that cost taxpayers more than $10 million. herrera paid another $5 million in public funds to defend against the suit. now a judge says the city must cover the costs along with nearly dpl 2.5 million for his lawyers. that totals nearly $19.5 million in taxpayer funds. >> fire crews remain at the scene of the fire at alum rock
