just live. >> jackie and carla will have to postpone their college plans for medical care, the driver did stay on scene. it's unclear if he's facing charges. in oakland, abc 7 news. new developments in a dead aapartment fire in honohonolulu. the fire killed three people and injured 12 others. four people including a firefighter are seriously hurt. this morning, we're hearing from residents who escaped. karen hastings lives on the 31st floor. she says she saw the fire burning several floors below her and watched it quickly spread. >> next thing we know, the smoke just billows out. windows are being broken, glass is flying all over. hitting people if they should happen to be there. then we see that the fire is spreading. >> firefighters say falling debris sparked secondary fires. the marco polo did not have sprinklers because it was built

before they were mandatory. no word on the cause. firt firefighters say it began on the 26th floor. developing news out of santa barbara county. we have new pictures of the whittier fire from overnight. the wildfire burning is 52% contained. firefighters say it's burned more than 13,000 acres and destroyed 20 buildings. new evacuation orders are in place. about 1600 firefighters are work working around the clock battling the flames. it began last week and here, a charred at least one acre in san jose. the fire started around yesterday avafternoon. firefighters rescued a kit ten from the flames. it is now receiving medical streemt. police are trying to find a missing 5-year-old girl. she was last seen at around 3:15 yesterday afternoon wearing a

black shirt, black pants and gray tennis shoes. she has short hair in twists. polie think her noncustodial mother took her. they say she has deminnished capacity. they were tracked to the b.a.r.t. station in berkeley. they are working to see if they got on a train. a man very familiar to north bay police is in jail accused of choking a young boy. police arrested 49-year-old eric wayne conroy thursday and as cornell bernard found out, cop conroy has had nearly 100 run ins with the law. >> neighbors sounding off about an incident that happened at walnut park on thursday. two teenage boys were sitting on a bench when they were approached by the 49-year-old. police say the suspect approached the teens from behind and started choking one of the

boys with a canvas strap. >> police placed it around one of the 14-year-old necks and tried to left him up. he was able to struggle and free himself. >> the attack, unprovoked, the teen was not hurt and calleded 911. police arrested conroy, who's a known transient in town. this was his 19th arrest in four years. mostly for drug charges and disorderly conduct. police have tried to help. >> he's been provided various resources throughout the years. >> it's kind of scary because we feel safe here. >> many parents on alert. the park is a popular spot, renovated in the past year. >> it's frustrating. >> this woman says they have funned safety cameras and better lighting. >> we want to see the kids back in here again, which is are happening now. >> some say they've seen him in the park before. he remains in jail charged with

assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse. officials with contra costa animal services to trying to find off a man badly in need of medical treatment. the staff at the shelter named her rosy because of her rosy color and personty. she has a severe skin condition and had no identification or micro chip. here's a look at the video. the man who left her there. you can see him trying to open the locked doors of what used to be the animal depository. that's whwhen i asked the man w happened to her. >> love to have a talk with him and figure out the circumstances. it could have been this was a last resort for the person. >> he could face charges of animal abandonment and neglect. they are treating the dog so she can go up for adoption. a san jose man has been given the maximum sentence of 16 years for stalk, kidnapping and killing cats.

he had to face the pet owners in court friday. >> it's a terrifying thought to think of what could happen if he makes another mistake. >> 26 yaerl robert former of san jose receive d max mamt sentenc. he tor turred and killed as many as 16 cats. his attorney read a statement, in it, he blamed his crimes meth. the judge ordered him to stay away from the neighborhood and barred him from owning r caring for animals for ten years. the prosecutor asked he register as a sex offender, but that's not part of his sentence. >> you don't have to be b a victim for it to matter. all crimes matter. we prosecute acrimes. >> police arrested him in 2015,

weekend. here's a look at live doppler p and a little fog here along the coast and it won't be lasting long. it's less than 1,000 feet, but i want to get you caught up on the traffic. this is the hurricane. a category 4. pretty strong system. you can see the eye continues to spin to the west. 12 miles an hour. and it's also about 1145 miles just off the tip of baja, mexico, so it's not a threat to any coastal communities. the track weakens quickly. by monday, 120 miles an hour, but thep by tuesday, it's just a category 1. so, just update you on the tropics there and our weather, which will be futuring very warm conditions once again, so mainly higher elevations, east bay, really everywhere except the coast, you may run into heat related illnesses. we're expecting highs from 94 to 104 today and you could be at risk for heat exhaustion,

heatstroke and also increased fire danger out there, so everything is really, really dry. we have a bit of wind in the higher elevations out of the north, so that's not going to help matters out of the weekend. 55 in the city. 57 in oakland. 61 in mown tun view, 51 in gilroy. half moon bay at 53 and looking at more 50s out the there, so it's comfortable from santa row sa to napa. low 60s in livermore. 60 in concord, but it's the rapid warming that you're going to notice today, so with the heat today and tomorrow, we're expecting triple digits inland. high fire danger, but the cooler weather pattern takes shape as soon as monday. also expecting higher clouds, so this is an hour by hour forecast today. you'll notice some filtered sunshine. and with with that, the temperatures today at the coast will still be at rather mild. upper 60s, half moon bay. we're looking at 70 in monterey. santa cruz, not usually do now u

applicants can get into the u.s. the hawaiian judge said that grandparents are the epitome of close family members and should be allowed to enter. jeff sessions says the administration will ask the u.s. supreme court to void the judge's ruling. senators will vote on the republican health care bill next week. president trump praised the plan in his weekly address and says the senate health care bill will give americans already options and lower costs. >> when i ran for president, i made a commitment to the american people to repeal and relace obamacare. i am pleased to report we are very, very close to ending this health care nightmare. we are so close. >> the republican health care plan limits federal spending on medicaid. the newest version of the bill changes how much money states will get. democrats say it favors louisiana, montana and alaska,

which are all republican dominated states. happening today, representative jackie spear will host a town hall meeting on health care. the event begins at noon in pacifica. she will discuss how federal and state bills impact health care coverage. she says tens f millions of people could lose their insurance under the gop health care bill. this is part of an ongoing series of town hall meeting that she has held since the presidential election. a bridal chain that declared bankruptcy is promising to do what it can to make sure brides get their dresses, but some of those brides were at stores yelling to be let in. lindsey janice has the story. >> we want our dresses! >> brides to be b across the country panicking aft panic angelo suddenly closing. these women trying to get the dresses they say they ordered
