it's saturday, july 15th. let's start with a first look at the forecast. here's lisa tracking live doppler 7. >> there is sun in some parts, but live doppler 7 shows there's still fog from point reyes just off the coast here, san matteo and down along through the central coast, so it is a shallow marine layer. it's going to disperse quickly. heat advisory right now through tomorrow night. so we're look agent the possibility over 100 degrees inland. 55 here in santa cruz going up to the mid-80s today. 64, oakland.

mountain view, 65 in san jose. milder in those areas. with emoryville b looking sunny, 60s at the coast 40 degrees warmer in our inland valley, up to 100 degrees there. >> thank you. now to breaking news of a triple shooting near uu berkeley. police have arrested two suspects. authorities say several member got into a fight at durant avenue. someone opened fire then the group scattered. say the victims are expected to be b okay. we'll continue to follow this story and bring you new updates throughout the morning. a 5-year-old boy is at children's hospital oakland after a crosswalk collision that was caught on camera. a family returning to their home was suddenly hit by a car. everyone survived, but the surveillance video you're about to see may be difficult to watch.

katie has the story. >> then i noticed my son -- >> surveillance cameras on lucky 37 restaurant captured a car plowing into three people last week. 20-year-old jackie velazquez and her two younger cousins were trying to cross at dale avenue. jackie and 18-year-old carla launched past. >> it was open, they were bleeding. >> carla's 5-year-old brother was pinned under the car. >> he was in icu, children's hospital. >> he's suffering from spinal injuries. the family was simply walking home from getting ice cream when they entered the crosswalk, yet both women feel responsible. >> i couldn't stand, just needed to do something. i feel it was just -- sorry.

ten minutes from wi aikiki beac. the smoke will lows out, windows are being groans. glass the flying all over. >> this is crazy. >> the fire breaking out on the 26th floor of the marco polo building and spreading. residents watching as flames and smoke engulf their homes. >> then it jumped to the 27th floor. and then it jumped to the 28th floor. and that's when i said, i'm out of here. >> more than 100 firefighters on scene. evacuating some residents an instructing others to shelter in place. >> the stairwell was so full of smoke, you couldn't breathe. you couldn't see. even the fireman got down on his hands and knees and was huffing and puffing. >> 12 injured, four, including a firefighters transported to the hospital. >> i hear three or four women's voices constant scream. just screaming.

i mean, it was terrifying. >> this fire similar to the deadly inferno na consumeded the tower in london a month ago, killing about 80 people. >> we're feeling nervous, worried, concerned, a little freaked out. >> investigators say this high-rise did not have sprinklers since building codes didn't require them when it was built in 1971. >> the fire chief says had there been sprinklers, flames would have likely been contained to just one apartment. we reached out to the owners, but they are not commenting. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fire. marcie gonzalez, abc news, los angeles. time now the 8:05. strong winds are fuelling a massive wildfire in california. the fire has burned more than 17,000 acres in santa barbara county. it is 35% contained. more than 1,000 firefighters are trying to keep the fire away from home, but wind gusts cowell push the flames towards them.

>> just getting ready in case they need to do any kind of burping operations should the fire come out of the hills into the front country. >> it's been a week since the whittier fire began. officials have told 2700 people to evacuate. new detail on a grass fire in belmont. a 14-year-old boy playing with fireworks was responsible for setting yesterday's fire. it burned at least one acre near hastings drive. firefighters took three hours to put it out, but were ib unable to keep the flames away from nearby homes and a school. place say the teen confessed. it's unclear if charges will be filed. fireworks are illegal in the city. a man very familiar to north bay police is in jail this morning accused of choking a young boy. police arrested 49-year-old eric wayne conroy thursday and as cornell bernard found out, cop conroy has had nearly 100 run ins with the law.

>> neighbors sounding off about an incident that happened at walnut park on thursday. two teenage boys were sitting on a bench when they were approached by the 49-year-old. police say the suspect approached the teens from behind and started choking one of the boys with a canvas strap. >> police placed it around one of the 14-year-old necks and tried to left him up. he was able to struggle and free himself. >> the attack, unprovoked, the teen was not hurt and calleded 911. police arrested conroy, who's a known transient in town. this was his 19th arrest in four years. mostly for drug charges and disorderly conduct. police have tried to help. >> he's been provided various resources throughout the years. >> it's kind of scary because we

feel safe here. >> many parents on alert. the park is a popular spot, renovated in the past year. >> it's frustrating. >> this woman says they have funned safety cameras and better lighting. >> we want to see the kids back in here again, which is are happening now. >> some say they've seen him in the park before. he remains in jail charged with assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse. officials with contra costa animal services to trying to find off a man badly in need of medical treatment. the staff at the shelter named her rosy because of her rosy color and personality. she has a severe skin condition and had no identification or micro chip. here's a look at the video. the man who left her there. you can see him trying to open the locked doors of what used to be the animal depository. when i asked the man who

happened to her. >> love to have a talk with him and figure out the circumstances. it could have been this was a last resort for the person. >> he could face charges of animal abandonment and neglect. they are treating the dog so she can go up for adoption. a san jose man has been given the maximum sentence of 16 years for stalk, kidnapping and killing cats. he had to face the pet owners in court friday. they tell they say the punishment isn't harsh enough. >> will still be young when he's released. it's a terrifying thought to think of what could happen if he makes another mistake in his life. >> 26-year-old robert farm receive ed he tor turred and killed as many as 16 cats. his attorney read a statement, the maximum sentence. in it, he blamed his crimes on meth. the judge ordered him to stay away from the neighborhood and

the trial date in kate steinle's murder case could be set next friday. the federal agent whose stolen gun was used if the crime. melanie wood row has the story. a man charged with kate steinle's murder has said he found a gun wrapped in a t-shirt under a bench on pier 14. the bullet ricochetted off the pavement and hit steinle. someone stole it from john -- vehicle when he was off duty. it was not clear how it got to pier 14. his attorneys say he asked about the gun when the murder trial begins. say the dlm is telling them the federal agent is not subject to state subpoena. >> there's a certain degree of air begansy, which i have to ask you, do tax parris want a
