>> abc news, los angeles. strong winds are fuelling a massive wildfire in southern california. the whittier fire has now burned more than 1700 acres in santa barbara county. it's 35% contained. more than 1,000 firefighters are trying to keep the fire away from homes in the area. but wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour could push those flames right towards the homes. >> just getting ready in case they need to do any burning operations should the fire come out of the hills into the front country. sfwl it's been a week now since the fire began. officials have told more than 2700 people to evacuate. police say a 14-year-old boy playing with fireworks was responsible for setting the fire if in belmont yesterday. it burned wup acre near his drive. firefighters took three hours to put out the fire, but were able to keep the flames waway from homes and a nearby school. police say the teen confessed to starting the fire. it's unclear now if charges will

the weekend and we're going to finish it with similar temperatures being warmer than where we are right now. live doppler 7, what we are seeing, we have some high clouds streams across the region and we are tracking some moisture and live doppler has the ability to slice through the alts fear. we're finding this moisture located around 30,000 feet, the same level commercial aircraft fly. however, you can see around 20,000 feet, the moisture is evaporating, so this moisture is nowhere near the surface. there is the chance some of these cells could have dry lightning. that's when lightning reaches the ground without the rain and that could spark brush fires. it's something to be tracking and part of the reason why we have the high fire danger risk. you can see the high clouds streaming in. filtered sunshine. that's what we'll call it. and it's just widespread warmth. no matter where you are right now. a lot of 80s and 90s around the bay. eve p warmer inland. 90 in san jose.
