down the alley but he did escape. police will always tell you do not fight back. but in this case they're glad she's okay, but you should not do this. this little puppy is named coral. >> just look at that puppy. i want to hold that puppy. dr. carrie is holding that puppy because not a good early life for this little girl. she was found on a texas highway. >> apparently we assume she was hit by a car. >> when she puts her down, you can see little coral here is limping with that back leg. so they're going to get an x-ray and see what they need to do to get her fixed up. >> puppy in the middle of a texas highway, though, that's sad. >> they believe she's only about eight weeks old. the leg is not the only problem coral has. >> another issue is that she has a lot of swelling right here. it's okay, coral. >> she's got a swollen part of her tummy. they want to see what's wrong with her. before they take the x-ray, they

check her out and found she has hook worm. they've got to treat her for that. here you see them giving her a little dose to just calm her down before they start workingh. so they're going to set her leg. that's a mighty big cast. check out the x-ray they take of this girl. >> you can see here that this is the fracture in the tibia and libya. >> the leg bone's not connecting to the other leg bone. >> you got that right, oli. they get a specialist in to perform surgery. there's the lump in her tummy they're worried about. she did a hematoma. they had to remove that area from her belly. once they do, they take another x-ray. she's got more metal. let's see how she's doing. >> it's been two weeks since her surgery. her leg looks great. incision is all healed up. her little belly here, the swelling has gone down quite a bit. >> and it will decrease because at her four-week checkup, there she is. in better shape. this is her weeks later.

look how big she is. >> coral's in for her last visit. she's all healed up and doing great. >> she went into a foster home because she needed to be adopted. but as i love to say, it was a foster failure. the family decided we're going to keep coral. i think she's going to be just fine. there's always that moment of anticipation after someone has a baby. you head to the hospital and you get to meet the little one for the first time. that's what's happening with james here. >> so what do you think of another baby girl? >> that's his daughter carrie. this is his third grandchild. they mentioned another baby girl. because that's all he's had so far. as he gazes at the baby, they gave him conversation. >> she's showing him the tag, isn't she? >> she's showing him something. he's like why did you get that onesie? >> because it's a boy. >> no way. >> this is a big deal for james. his grandchildren are all girls. now he's like, i got some company around these parts.
