east bay while man has been shot to death while pushing a 3 moel -month-old baby in a stroller. >> thank you for joining us. deputies remain on the scene tonight. >> the shooting happened just before 3:00 on willow avenue at meek land avenue in the area known as cherry land. >> you just talked to investigators. >> reporter: the shooter is still at large at this hour. i'm going to step out of the way so you can see the crime scene. there are lots of sheriff deputies looking for surveillance footage working on trying to get a description of that shooter. we know man pushing a stroller around 3:00 was shot and killed. the shooter may have pulled up in car or may have walked up to the man, shot him and he died on scene. he was pushing a stroller with a baby inside. you can see disturbing images of that stroller tipped over. that baby is okay. it is in protective custody. we do not know whether it's a little buy or little girl.

that happened around the 200 block of willow avenue. the sheriff's deputies are concerned about possible targeted nature of this crime. they are not releasing any victim info because of that. they are wanting to protect the victim's family at this point. they are looking for the surveillance footage trying to talk to neighbors. they have not said whether or not this is gang related. they are looking into that being a possibility and they are interviewing witnesses at this point as well trying to get that suspect description for you and when get that, we will push it out for you and update you with that information. abc 7 news. the reason i'm staying here is i love my community dearly. >> an

infer inferno. many are gone but some refuse to leave. >> the fire is racing uphill sides near several towns tonight. just look at that. it's also just outside yosemite national park. >> sheer a look at the area burning. it's west of the park in an area filled with old gold mining towns. >> the latest figures show 45,000 acres have burned more than double the area from this time yesterday. eight buildings are destroyed and the fire is just 7% contained. >> now abc 7 news reporter is live tonight. >> the community is under a mandatory evacuation. >> reporter: i'm along highway 49. this is just east of coulterville. we have fire crews out here. this is shasta lake hot shots. they arrived as this entire

hillside behind me erupted in flames. we're a few miles outside. this is actually the heel of the fire and this new activity all around this area has prompted a new round of evacuations. it's a fire that's grown tremendously and shows no signs of letting up with flames 50 feet in the air. burning with abandon through trees and dry brush in rural mariposa county as the fire approaches 50,000 acres. >> the fire is still spreading? >> absolutely. as of this morning we only had 7% containment on a 45,000 plus acre fire. >> reporter: with flames closing in on two sides the residents were given an emergency evacuation order. those folks were coming down from greeley road about ten

here along highway 49. we're showing you these power lines because these are the lines that provide power to o yosemite national park. if these lines burn or damage in this fire, power could be cut off for the foreseeable future and with this fire less than 10% contained, it is still very much a big concern. >> it sure is. thanks so much. tonight, nevada is getting the brunt of the smoke from the fire in mariposa fire. the view was tweeted today. you cannot see that much. a lot of smoke is in the air. smoke is an issue.

>> reporter: you'll notice that plume of smoke is actually stretching all the way up north to reno as you mentioned. you can see it continuing to drift in that direction. as a matter of fact, when you take a look at the distance from that fire all the way up towards reno, it's about 116 miles. it's stretching quite a bit. the worst of the air quality is near the fire zone. unhealthy for sense tiitive gro. fire conditions is 88 degrees. pretty warm. it is dry. as you take a look at the wind gust it's going to remain gusty through this evening before winds down down and pick back up tomorrow afternoon. thanks very much. we'll stay on top of thf as will laura. she'll be on top of the fire in mariposa county. in developing news, sky 7 shows us the santa clara jail in

san jose where four inmates had a probable drug overdose this afternoon. our media partner, the bay area news group reports two are being discharged back to jail while the other two are conscious and expected to recover. new at 5:00, richmond police and the fbi announced take down of the violent gang called the major boys. they have been terrorizing the city. the fbi joint task force and richmond police have been investigating the gang for the past six months. this morning alone they made three arrests. the investigation continue as they try to link this gang with several specific crimes. the operation was dubbed

crescent moon and big house. they arrested six members of the manor boys gang. a large criminal enterprise with some 60 validated street gangsters. one of those arrested, a 15-year-old charged with a shooting death. they seized 11 firearms and other evidence from search warrants executed in seven cities from richmond to sacramento. >> this richmond base network is suspected in multiple serious criminal acts in richmond as well as jurisdictions beyond across the entire bay region. >> reporter: the gang operated out of the monterey pines apartment complex in richmond. several of the search warrants were executed there. gangs in richmond have been mostly small groups.

most of the violence occurring in troubled neighborhoods like the city central area called the iron triangle. the manor boys gang is one of the largest criminal groups in recent memory. >> i give warning to the other ones out there that you better start looking over your shoulder because they are coming. >> reporter: the task force believes the gang is responsible for one other unsolved murder. vic lee, abc 7 news. new developments on efforts to find a missing boater in marin county. the search was suspended. charles company. he went missing yesterday afternoon. wayne is live now. >> reporter: it's usually a very beautiful place.

tonight it's also a sad place. the search lasted more than 24 hours. sheriff's deputies went up and down the coastline. they looked at nearly five miles. they found to clues. late this afternoon they suspended the search. they will come back flexinext w and see if anything might turn up. >> reporter: a sense of sadness and loss. >> he's a character. he's tough as nails. people are pretty broke up about this. >> reporter: the last time anyone saw charles todd friend it was yesterday afternoon. he just continued on behind a couple other boats. >> the boat was found without him. >> reporter: since the disappearance nothing else has

traveled to italy earlier this month for their 43rd anniversary. it was supposed to be vacation of a lifetime. chance for them to see their daughter, son-in-law and five grand children who now live overseas as a military family. tragedy would come during a trip to the swimming pool. >> we are in a ring of hell. every day when we think maybe we're getting closer to getting out of it, we find no, we're going deeper in. >> reporter: he suffered a medical emergency and nearly drowned. he now lies in a vegetative state in the icu at a hospital. tests and scans indicate he's suffered hmajor brain damage. many back home are stunned this happened. >> i know he will be with me in the spirit. that's what i look forward to still sharing that with him. i love him and his family. i miss him deeply. >> reporter: the family says italian officials won't release him until they can secure a safe medical transport back to monts

teenage girls sdoped selling a glittery makeup. >> samples of the makeup were sent to a contained asbestos. the tv station reported the lab found that talc was contaminated with asbestos. it also found four potentially toxic metals including lead. asbestos has been linked to several types of cancers. the retailer has begun an independent investigation. justice stop selling powder out of an abundance of caution.

if fbi is warning parents to be careful with children's toys that connect to the internet. the agency issued an alert saying smart toys can put a child's safety and privacy at risk. the toys include make rowphones and data storage. they can gather information that may be transmitted back to the manufacturer or to a hacker. the fbi says parents should read all privacy notices and research the internet security of each toy. i posted more information on my facebook page about how to keep your childsafe. a new study says they're not betting on the stock market. the survey by nerds wallet says young workers are afraid of plummeting stock prices. two-thirds are putting their money into savings accounts instead of the stock market. nerd wallet says they are missing out. they would earn more than $4.5 million by age 65 if they invest in the stock market.
