it looked like a good landing aside from the fact it's not on a runway. having utility trucks parked in front of your house can be loud, frustrating a pain, but a florida man took his frustration a little too far. video shows a suburban maim miami resident shooting out the tires of an at&t bucket truck. he also shot other parts of these vehicles. one of the utility workers was up in the bucket and couldn't come down in fear for his light no one was injured, but the homeowner was arrested. i don't know what they did to warrant that. >> why did he come out of his house and start shooting at the utility truck? >> wanted to test out his firearm, i don't know. >> florida. o.j. simpson has served nearly 9 years of a 33 year sentence for armed robbery, convicted of trying to take back sports memorabilia that he says was stolen from him. one of the men he's accused of robbing will speak on simpson's

behalf. o.j. is now 70 years old and has been a model prisoner. legal experts say he's likely to be released. we will have full coverage of the hearing today at 1:00 p.m. on abc. we're turning to a police department under fire for troubling video that's gone viral. >> a lot of people talking about this. it come from an officer's body camera and appears to show him planting evidence. that was used to make an arrest. here's abc's linzie janis. >> reporter: one baltimore police officer suspended and two others placed on limited duty as authorities investigate this video. the officer's body camera shows him walking down the alley, sifting through some trash and finding a bag of drugs inside a soup can. >> yo! >> reporter: but the body camera records 30 seconds of silent footage before the officer turns it on. in those 30 seconds, you can see the officer in that alley,

good morning. i'm kendis gibson. >> i'm erielle reshef in for diane macedo. here are some of the top stories we're following throughout the morning on "world news now." breaking news, senator john mccain is battling an aggressive form of brain cancer. it was discovered nearly a week ago when he underwent a procedure to remove a blood clot. treatment options are being considered. the full details ahead. president trump making it clear, he's not happy with the attorney general jeff sessions. he tells the "new york times," a publication he once called failing, that he would not have appointed him if he knew he would recuse. o.j. simpson is facing a parole board after 9 years in prison for robbery. one of the men he's accused of robbing will be speaking in his behalf.

e ex-period of time experts say he is likely to be released. and one of the largest jackpots in history, $448 million. the winning ticket sat on the kitchen counter until the lindseys realized they'd won. those are some of the top stories on this thursday, july 20th. from abc news, this is "world news now." we begin with breaking news this morning about senator john mccain. >> doctors diagnosed the veteran republican senator and two-time presidential candidate of course with an aggressive form of cancer. they discovered mccain's brain tumor while he was having a blood clot removed from above his left eye last friday. all of the tumor that was visible on brain scans has also been removed. >> mccain's wife saying in a tweet overnight that he is doing well. and we know mccain has been in

touch with some of his friends in the senate. we have amnanawaz joining us with more. good morning. >> good morning guys. there are messages of support pouring in. after news broke of senator mccain's diagnosis. and it is a testament to mccain's decades of service. how quickly and forcefully those messages came pouring in after his diagnosis. last night we heard from one of his closest friends on capitol hill, republican senator lindsey graham of south carolina who had just spoken to mccain on the phone. >> we talked about five minutes, you know, it's going to be a tough way forward, but he says i've been through worse. and then basically we started talking about health care and the mda. it wasn't five minutes until he turned away from what most people would have a hard time absorbing and focussed on what he loves the best. >> and we are hearing this over and over in statements of support, how tough senator mccain is president trump called him a fighter. vice president pence said cancer

picked the wrong guy. hillary clinton tweeted that mccain is as tough as they come. and former president obama wrote give it hell, john. now mccain's daughter, meghan wrote a heart-felt message asking for prayers and support. but also a message from joe biden who lost his own son, beau biden, to the same brain cancer back in 2015. biden, who has known mccain for decades wrote, quote, he is strong, and he will beat this. >> and it's so touching to see senator graham there kind of fighting back tears when he's talking about his long friend. what do we know about this tumor? >> look, glioblastoma is rare. 12,000 people a year are diagnosed. it's aggressive. the five-year survival rate for people over the age of 55 is just 4%. he's recovering well, they're going with optimism and positivity. they are confident he will beat this. >> so many people have their thoughts and prayers with the mccain family.

he is what many consider to be an american hero for so many years. >> wish him well. amna, thank you. a group of american senators in the meantime, failed to break an impasse on health care after a late night meeting. they gathered hours after a white house lunch with the rest of their colleagues. >> president trump is turning up the pressure to repeal and replace obamacare, telling them not to leave for their august recess until they pass a bill. here's abc's mary bruce. >> reporter: first the president said he wanted to repeal and replace. then when republicans blind sided him, he said just repeal. then he said just let it fail. and now a new order, to repeal and replace. >> i intend to keep my promise, and i know you will too. >> reporter: it was a signature promise he made repeatedly even on the campaign trail. then as president-elect he promised to do it quickly. >> probably the same day, could

be the same hour. >> reporter: and he told senators they should not leave town until they get it done. >> we should repeal and replace and we shouldn't leave town until this is complete, until this bill is on my desk. >> reporter: the president reminding republicans sitting there that they voted 60 times to repeal part or all of obamacare. while obama was in office. >> i am sitting in my office, i have pen in hand. you never had that before. for seven years, you had an easy route. we'll repeal, replace, and he's never going to sign it. but i'm signing it. so it's a little bit different. >> reporter: the president also making a veiled threat against one of senators who signaled he might bail. senator dean heller of nevada sitting right next to him. >> he wants to remain a senator, doesn't he? okay? >> reporter: meanwhile, back on the hill, protesters swarmed the capitol, making clear what's at stake for republicans.

republican leader mitch mcconnell is pushing ahead. he says the senate will still move to vote on a bill to just repeal obamacare. but some republicans are still not on board. >> no replace with repeal, whatever part of the process is, i'm not voting to move forward. >> reporter: the straight repeal could leave 32 million more americans uninsured over the next decade and premiums for some could double. but that's only if republicans don't come up with separate plan to replace obamacare. the president says he is willing to stay in town so long as senators are on the hill and working on health care. mary bruce, abc news, capitol hill. we'll turn our attention to the west and a massive wildfire. more than 4,000 people have been evacuated from the area just west of yosemite national park. this is the detwiler fire. it has destroyed 29 homes and threatens hundreds of others.

abc's amna nawaz joins us now with more. good morning. >> it is a tough diagnosis for a man known as one of the toughest senators on capitol hill, but it's not mccain's first battle with cancer. the former presidential candidate underwent three surgeries between 1993 and 2002 to remove four melanomas, but this latest diagnosis is different. glioblastoma is a rare form of brain cancer, affecting three out of every 100,000 people in the u.s. and the prognosis can vary based on a number of factors. senator mccain remains in arizona after the surgery that led to the diagnosis in the first place. and doctors say he is improving well. statements have been pouring in from president trump, president obama, hillary clinton and mccain's senate colleagues among many, many others, but one of the most touching statements so far is this one, from mccain's

rallied against the effort to abolish obamacare. the latest report from the congressional budget office says a repeal-only bill would leave 32 million more people uninsured over the next decade and average premiums would double. the supreme court is upholding part of a lower court order on president trump's travel ban. it allows grandparents and other relatives of u.s. residents to enter the country from six mostly muslim countries. it allows grandparents and others to help those visitors get into the country. but it also ruled the trump administration can strictly enforce its ban on refugees. now to the wildfire in yosemite national park. nearly two dozen homes nearby have been destroyed. more than 4,000 people evacuated their homes, including the entire town of mariposa. the fire is now at 75 square miles, it has doubled in size since this time yesterday.

hail of bullets. >> this morning police are still trying to piece together what exactly happened. here's abc's david kerley. >> reporter: the end of a road rage shooting that left a driver wounded. surveillance video reportedly showing part of the incident. that black suv pulling off the road. it's difficult to see, but the other vehicle, a van, drives on. >> a white male suspect in a white sprinter van. >> reporter: an immediate manhunt starts. police say this all began on the interstate. after exiting, the vehicles hit a stoplight. one witness says the driver of the suv was agitated and pulled in front of the van and got out of her vehicle. >> she gets out the car and he opens the door. he didn't say nothing, just started shooting. >> reporter: road rage incidents are climbing. we've seen vehicles bumping each other or guns pulled. a private tracking group says road rage with guns has more than doubled in the past two years. the incident that happened here has come to an end, the suspect, a 58-year-old maryland man has turned himself in to police.

behalf. o.j. is now 70 years old and has been a model prisoner. he's likely to be released. we will have full coverage of the hearing today at 1:00 p.m. on abc. we're turning to a police department under fire for troubling video that's gone viral. >> a lot of people talking about this. it come from an officer's body camera and appears to show him planting evidence. here's abc's linzie janis. >> reporter: one baltimore police officer suspended and two others placed on limited duty as authorities investigate this video. the officer's body camera shows him walking down the alley, sifting through some trash and finding a bag of drugs inside a soup can. >> yo! >> reporter: but the body camera records 30 seconds of silent footage before the officer turns it on. in those 30 seconds, you can see the officer in that alley, appearing to plant the drugs.
