blocked. if you're traveling from pittsburg to the bay point area, we have a bit of a delay. overall, very light at this early hour. tracy to dublic in the green at 30 minutes. southbound 680, in the green at 15, and northbound 85 from 101 to cupertino in the green at 16 minutes. >> thanks. developing news now. some thrill rides across the country including one at the santa cruz boardwalk are under scrutiny this morning after a deadly malfunction at the ohio state fair. >> one person was killed after the firebail ride broke apart in midair, and dramatic video shows the fireball ride swinging and spinning when it then crashed into something. part of the ride broke off. >> several riders thrown into the air. some of the victims landed on the hard asphalt at that fair. seven people were taken to the hospital. three are in critical condition. the ride swirls as high as 40 feet in theit passengers 13 tim

every minute. >> the ride goes really fast and goes in circles and rocked right to left. i heard a girl scream help and look over and seen someone fly out. then i see it smack to the ground. >> how awful. ohio governor john kasich called the accident the worst tragedy in the history of the fair. he's called for a full investigation and ordered all rides shut down until safety inspections can be made. >> and of course, the fireball ride may sound familiar to folks in the bay area. it's popular at the california state fair in sacramento and there's the same ride at the sanda cruz boardwalk. >> matt keller live with more on the impact this is going to have on visitors. >> reporter: good morning, reggie and jessica. the fireball ride is right here on the boardwalk behind the giant dipper. they did close it last night so they could do an inspection, but they're waiting until the daylight hours to go and check out the ride to make sure that it is safe for riders. of course, this isn't the only place that has a ride like this.

in sacramento, as you said, the fireball ride at the california state fair was shut down last night following the devastating accident at the ohio state fair. officials say independent preopening inspections are held on the 100 rides at the california state fair as well as random spot infections throughout each day. the ride in sacramento is similar but nomthe same as the one in ohio, however, they were manufactured by the same company. >> it's not going to run until they tell us what happened in ohio and the factory says it's okay to operate. >> california's great america has a similar ride. no word whether that ride will be open today. ee have no timeline on the fireball ride here at the santa cruz beach boardwalk. reporting live, matt keller, abc7 news. >> thank you. happening today, the father of the only american killed in the 2015 paris terror attacks will be in a federal court in san francisco. he is suing google, facebook, and twitter over his daughter's death.

nohemi gonzalez was among the 132 people killed in the attack. the 23-year-old cal state long beach student was at a restaurant when terrorists attacked. the lawsuit alleged social media companies are partly responsible because terrorists sued -- used the sites, rather, to plan their attack. the father's attorney argues the companies could do more to bring terror pages down. the social media companies say they prohibit terrorist content and take it down as soon as they are aware it exists. the senate expected to take up a marathon session on repealing obamacare. that could include a so-called skinny repeal bill that only gets rid of the individual and employer mandates. the move to repeal and replace obamacare is drawing more protests, like the one you see here in san francisco. abc7 news was at zuckerberg san francisco general hospital where hundreds of people joined in holding hands for health care. they formed that huge human chain. the protest organized by the

group indivisible sf. president trump's approval rating has hit a new low in california this morning. this is just coming in to our live desk. the public policy institute of california releasing its new poll and says only 25% of californians think the president is doing a good job. that is down from 30% in january. more than 1700 californians participated in the poll. and those who took the survey told our media partner the bay area news group they're not surprised mr. trump is disliked in the golden state. the latest national poll from gallup found 37% of americans approve of president trump's performance. bay area transportation leaders are moving forward with a plan to raise bridge tolls by up to three bucks. they voted last night to back a state senate bill that would put the toll hike on the ballot. the money raised would pay for transportation projects and cut down on traffic congestion. the proposal stidz need approval

kardashian were at the scene but they weren't involved in the crash. there the state department is warning u.s. citizens traveling to mexico about tainting or bootleg alcohol following the death of a wisconsin umwoman. the woman fell into a coma after drinking a cocktail at a five-star mexican resort. a newspaper investigating her death said it has received dozens of similar reports. tourists say they blacked out or got sick after drinking. the state department says tourists should limit what they drink and get medical help right away if they feel sick. >> new this morning, uc berkeley police have released these photos from surveillance video. it shows two burglars that stole electronic equipment from inside a campus building. uc police say that electronic equipment valued at about $25,000 was taken last week at north gate hall. that's home to cal's graduate skeel of journalism. the burglars got inside the building from a window left open. >> a bay area dog rescue club says the popular show "game of

thrones" is leading to more dog surrenders. we have more on the trend and a word of caution for would-be dog owners. >> they'd be like, oh, wow, dire wolfs. >> patty could barely make it around a san francisco block with her huskies when game of thrones debuted. >> one time, i counted 12 photo ops on a friday evening walking around the block. >> the breed has seen a boom in popularity. the husky club believes it's due to the hit hbo series. >> one for each of the stark children. >> the stark land is known for their connection to dire wolfs. >> game of thrones uses dogs which are a type of sled dog, and a lot of hollywood uses huskies as stand-in for wolves. >> i already wanted a husky because of baulto when i was a kid. but i wanted to name her stark. >> angela adopted this dog as a compromise because she knew she couldn't handle a husky.

tonight, patchy clouds and fog. a lot like this morning, and above average highs for just about all of us the next seven days. let's start down in the south bay. significantly warmer than yesterday. 84, milpitas. to 91 in san jose, to flirting with 100 in los gatos, morgan hill, and gilroy. look at the temperatures on the peninsula. a lot of low to upper 80s. going to be a little uncomfortable today. 74, nicer around millbrae. temperatures at the coast, even responding, mid to upper 60s for you. low 70s in downtown south san francisco, and sausalito. 89 in petaluma. that's one of the cool spots in the north bay valleys. a lot of us in the low 90s, flirtding with 100 in cloverdale. 84 in hercules. 81 in san leandro to 87 in fremont. a little more comfort around oakland and richmond, 78 and 74. look at this, temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s. air conditioners running in our inland east bay neighborhoods once again. tonight's temperatures in the mid 50s to mid 60s.

here's my seven-day forecast. look at the wealth of 80s around the bay. and 90s to 100 inland. that free air conditioning, you have to go to the coast. temperatures there in the mid 60s. we have been tracking fog all morning. looks really thick in the north bay and along the coast. any issues yet that you're seeing? >> yeah, nothing too much as far as the commute is concerned. i have been checking waze to see if anyone is making reports of some really thick areas. we haven't seen any yet, but i am taking a look at our visibility layer on top of our traffic map. there's that dense fog in the north bay that mike was talking about around healdsburg, into santa rosa. not too much about petaluma yet, but give it some time. it normally does fill in around that stretch. also, the south bay around hollister, if you're headed into gilroy, definitely some thick areas around state route 25 or 152 and along the coast as well. quick check outside, the only camera i can spot any fog on, golden gate bridge. zipper truck just going through, but i know you're used to

driving in the fog there along golden gate. just make sure you're driving for conditions. good news with our crash on highway 4. we'll check on that next. >> glad you shois the gold gate bridge because the next story is all about that. >> stay in your lane. that's what the bridge district is saying. too many marathon runners broke the rules and they're now threatening to keep everyone on the sidewalk next year. 15,000 runners cross said the bridge during the san francisco marathon this past weekend. some of them didn't follow instructions. the bridge district says runners were told to stick to the lanes closest to the sidewalk. instead, some ran in the two lanes set aside as a buffer zone and a bus lane. >> a little boy from the north bay is making the most of a second chance at life that he's been given. he got a liver transplant when he was 8 months old. he's 6 now and was the guest of honor at the san francisco giants donate life day yesterday. the annual event began 20 years ago to raise awareness about organ donation. he traveled with his family from napa to open up the game with a
