12-hour day planner. first show you there is some patchy fog out there this morning. let's take a look at your numbers. we'll start at 7:00 this morning. we've got upper 50s to mid-60s and antioch will be a little warmer. clouds mainly along the peninsula coast. mid-60s to low 70s around the bay and mid-70s to low 80s inland. we'll jump up about fooib moive degrees at 5:00. 60s around the bay. really comfortable. your weekend forecast coming up next. here's alexis. >> we did have a pretty serious crash overnight. i'll take you down to the traffic maps. near 101. so right around the 101 and 85 interchange. we have video from the scene. let's take a look at that. solo vehicle collision that happened before 2:00 this a lot of damage done to that vehicle. rescue crews were there quickly and took them 20 to 30 minutes to get the driver out of that vehicle and that person was

transported. sound like nonlife threatening injuries right now. not sure what caused this crash and it sounds like all lanes are back open. lucky situation for that driver and should not impact you here for this morning's commute. we'll look at the south bay coming up in less than ten. . a live desk update. a standoff ending peacefully overnight. we have now learned that police have a suspect in custody. the fire department first responded to reports of a building on fire in wash park. they arrived around 11:30 last night and found a man accused of setting the fire on the roof. smoke was rising from the building. police spent nearly an hour convincing that man to come down. the suspect demanded to speak with his children before turning himself in. luckily, no one was hurt in that standoff. we're learning this morning of a dramatic drop in one particular type of crime in san francisco. a cell phone in your hand is safer than it's been in years.

a amy hollyfield is live downtown. >> these are not getting taken nearly as much because of the kill switch. it require that manufacturers put the kill switch in these phones when they sell them and it makes them useless when they're activated. the law went into effect three years ago. here is a look at the impact. take a look at these numbers. smartphone robberies are down 22% from 2015 to 2016. but look at a few years ago, they're down 50%. so, a big drop. san francisco is feeling especially proud. our district attorney, george ca cascone sponsored this legislation and authored the bill, a law first of its kind. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. happening today, a judge expected to set a trial date in the kate steinly murder case.

accused of shooting steinle in june of 2014. he said he found a gun and it went off when he picked it up. lopez sanchez had been deported to mexico five times before shooting. the steinle shooting touched off a national debate and the role it play have played in the suspect being released from custody. four people are facing charges with dozens of break-ins in the east bay. two of those suspects as 20-year-old brian randolph and 20-year-old john robertson. but we won't name the other two because they are teenagers. investigators say the group admits to breaking into 17 cars in the parking lot of brentwood hotel last friday morning. one of the cars was actually stolen. it was later spotted near a livermore apartment complex where another 36 cars were broken into. the suspects say they committed the break ins hoping to steal

items. a suspect is in custody after a deadly stabbing. at the scene on main street after san mateo sheriff deputies were called for a fight in front of a home last night. one had a visible injury to his neck and pronounced dead at the scene. no word what led up to that deadly stabbing. this morning investigators are confident they will find out what caused a thrill ride to fail at the state fair killing an 18-year-old high school students. tyler had just signed up for the marines a week ago and was set to begin basic training after graduation next year. his girlfriend was among the seven people who were badly injured when the fireball broke apart wednesday night. investigators say the dramatic video captured by a fair goer could become an important piece of the puzzle. forensic analysts can now take it down frame by frame for a better understanding of where and when the ride came apart. >> the fireball ride is shut down indefinitely and five other

locations in california and that an order from is closed down, as well. that's as a precaution. the dutch manufacturer has ordered a worldwide shut down of all of these rides until it can come up with a plan for safety inspections. antioch firefighters think an arsonist is responsible for three different outdoor fires there. one started just before 2:00 yesterday afternoon and charred fences along the railroad tracks. minutes later, crews raced to fight two other fires burning nearby. one of those fires threatened a building for a short time. the fires burned about three acres total. the spillway failure could happen at other dams in california. that dire warning coming this morning from the department of water resources. it's now saying owners of,

video you'll see only on san francisco news. the delivery man mixed up her order but when he returned he blamed her for the mistake, walked into her home uninvited and then started to verbally and then started to verbally assault her. >> i was a little bit worried for a minute what was he going to do. he was visibly agitated and angry. >> police say this is considered trespassing and should be reported. the behavior seen in the video is unacceptable. florida police officers released video an officer heard telling williams she was at fault for the june 9th accident with an elderly couple. later police released a statement saying williams lawfully entered the intersection when the couple's car crashed into her suv.

a 78-year-old passenger died from his injuries two weeks later and his widow is now suing williams. cal fire is trying to figure out why one of its air tankers dumped 100 gallons of retardant over sonoma neighborhood. most of the neighborhood were all covered in pink. the homes are right in the flight path of the charles m. shultz airport. they worked with cal fire yesterday afternoon to wash everything down. >> i came to the front and opened the door and everything was pink and, so >> really, there was pink everywhere. nine homes and 13 cars actually were coated with the retardant. it's considred nontoxic but can damage paint. >> first i thought it was a fast-moving grass fire in hawaii.

flames came within 30 feet of some homes on the big island yesterday. neighbors used hoses to try to control the flames until firefighters arrived. blustery winds helped push the fire which is 50% contained this morning. scorched about 400 acres of land. some people left anyway because of all that smoke. a big homecoming come for an oakland rapper who is on the fast track to fame. >> fans waited hours to see him promote a new brand of whiskey. >> they waited and some standing in line for hours. >> represents the city where he's from and he's extremely proud of what he does. >> gerald is amazing. that's my guy. >> gerald earl gilum otherwise known as g easy arrived that liquor store and took time to hug a fan. >> first things first. always important to come back
