the president followed that up with another tweet. i would like to thank reince priebus for his service and dedication to his country. we accomplished a lot together and i am proud of him. john kelly is a retired marine four star general. he's been serving skaee ining a of homeland security. president trump calls him a true star of my administration. a federal ranger whose gun was used in a highly publicized bay hearing will testify at the trial. he told investigators he found the weapon and did not steal it from the rangers car. his defense team says the gun went off accidental killing kate as he walked along pier 14 in san francisco. they want to question the ranger about the condition of the handgun. they were initially blocked by his superiors who argue that federal agents cannot be subpoenaed to testify in state courts. they say a new agreement will allow the agent to testify at

the discretion of the trial judge. >> the trial judge could get to decide that. not that blm. >> whether or not this ranger's testimony is relevant being as though the defendant is not charged with auto blaeurglary remains to be seen. >> both sides will be in court on tuesday. san francisco police are looking for four women accused of beating another woman on a muni bus and stealing her cell phone. this happened at kearny and market. the victim was on the eight bay shore bus when the suspects started harassng her p when the victim tried to call police investigators say they surrounded her and started punching her. one woman took her phone. all four got off the bus and ran away. the attackers are believed to be

between 18 and 21 years old. a big rig overturned and narrowly missed a hill. take a look at the wreck. the workers tell us the truck tipped onto its side while they were unloading asphalt at a construction area around 11:00 this morning. >> it held it i on the road so the workers were able to break the wind shield out and help the driver escape to safety. if the bed had been down, it probably would have pulled the truck over and rolled down the hill here. >> the truck's driver wasn't hurt. the road is set to reopen any minute now. commuters in the east bay encountered a case of deja vu. let's look at pleasant hill road

65 across the bay. san jose 78. 84 in gilroy. here is a much different view looking westward. you can see the low clouds really stacking up there along the coastline and about to swallow san francisco. it's 85 in santa rosa now. we have 80 in novato. 95 at concord. you'll see on the forecast animation the fog will continue building during the late night hours and may be some spotty early morning drizzle. ais i'll show you the seven-day forecast in a few minutes. sky 7 was overhead as fremont firefighters put out a brush fire burning near homes. it started at 1:30 this afternoon. no homes burned and no injuries were reported. mandatory evacuations have ended for people living near the fire. today there's only an evacuation advisory in small area affecting

about 30 momenthomes. the fire burned nearly 82,000 acres. it's now 75% contained. 63 homes and 68 other buildings have been destroyed. there's nearly a dozen active wildfires burning this california. a blow today for rural property owners in california. the state says it's still on the hook for a controversial wildfire prevention fee this year even though fee will be suspended next year. homeown homeowners will owe for 2017 since the program started in 2011. new details about the deadly ghostship fire in oakland. attorneys for max harris one of the men charged for voluntary manslaughter said their client is not happy a after a judge denied his release from jail.

sonoma nationals will be taking place. mostly sunny skies. a high temperature in the low to mid-80s. down in gilroy. 39th annual garlic festival. if you missed the first 38, you'll want to go to the 39th this weekend. it's going the be warm but not really hot there. speaking of heat, notice on sunday it starts to get warmer with high temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 90s in the inland area. monday temperatures continue climbing and tuesday looks like it's going to bring us some august sizzle as the month of august gets under way. we'll see numerous inland locations reaching 100 degrees or higher. next week will bring us a lot of summer sizzle. here is the accuweather sf seven-day forecast. over the weekend not very hot with highs in the mid-90s. we'll see upper 70s. some upper 60s on the coast.

japan's prime minister conde condemning north korea for launching another ballistic missile test. u.s. officials confirm it was an intercontinental missile that traveled for more than 40 minutes before landing off the coast of japan. the pentagon says the latest missile like previous launches was fired straight into the sky. a top neuroheweapons expert say would allow it to strike inside the u.s. main land. >> this is a clear demonstration of their ability to hit seattle, los angeles, probably even the east coast. >> reporter: that chilling news comes just weeking after north korea celebrated its first successful icbm launch on july 4th. that missile shot some 1700 miles into space and at the time experts warned had the north koreans angled for distance, not height, that could come close to

here is abc news reporter bryan clark. >> reporter: the long tragic battle of a critically ill british baby has come to an end. baby charlie has died in a hospice just shy of celebrating his first birthday. charlie suffered from rare disease with no cure. he had brain damage and was unable to breathe or move his limbs unaidsed. his parented petitioned the judge to allow charlie to travel to the u.s. for experimental treatment. an american doctor who flew to england determined it was too late. charlie's parents finally

accepting their son would never recover. >> our son is an asbestos luts warrior and we could not be proud of him. we will miss him terribly. >> reporter: british doctors maintained the condition was terminal and any treatment would only prolong the suffering. the fight had gone on since march. sympathy swelled around the world including from the pope and president trump. bryan clark, abc news, new york. >> so sad. actor george clooney is going to bat for the safety of his infant twins. the actor is vowing to sue a french magazine over pictures. the photographer scaled their fence and illegally took pictures of the infants inside ore home. in a statement he says the safety of our children demands that he go forward with a lawsuit. once again i'll point out that fog is expanding along the coastline.

it will start to reach out over the bay which has been the pattern for seven weeks. overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 50s. it will be pretty mild. tomorrow will be another day much like today. almost the same temperature range. we'll see fog and low clouds lingering at the coastline where highs will reach in the low to mid-60s. low to mid-90s in the warmest inland locations. it's going to get warmer as we look ahead to next week. i'll use san jose as you are i understand -- as our high temperature trend. the next few days we'll see highs in the low 90s. the heat will peak with highs in the mid-90s and temperature start to drop off going into the latter part of next week. that's what we can expect. here is the seven-day forecast. maybe not the exactly same temperatures but the same pattern. tomorrow mid-90s inland. mid-90s to upper 90s on sunday and monday. the warming peaks mid week next

primetime line up. you can catch shark tank and 20/20 followed by abc 7 news at 11:00. the newest attraction for visitors to santa cruz shares the same water as swimmers and surfers but the great white shark image is kind of changing a bit as people get closer to them and learn more about them. abc 7 news reporter takes us out to sea to look at those sharks in a different light. >> reporter: it's a given they that are interested this watching for whales. many like richard are hoping to see something else. >> i'm kind of hoping to see sharks. >> reporter: the same waters off santa cruz where whales have been feeding have become home to a growing cluster of great white sharks. they have been seen only a quarter mile out which means a cement boat. >> they are increasing. last year a bit more and it's unbelievable.

i can go out there and see an average of 8 to 12 sharks even more a trip. >> reporter: she's spent his entire life studying marine life. you can see how a white shark passes underneath posing to threat. it's believer warmer water is attracting them. >> it's easier for them to regulate their body temperature. it's like a low energy modes. they can conserve on energy, eat fish. most of the animals are too small to be feeding on mammals. i've been referring to it as the sark day spa. they come out and hang around. >> reporter: the ability the see sharks and whales brings out cay y -- kayakers. those on the whale watching trip had their opportunities too. >> possibly a tail up there.
