win a free treatment. good morning.towards his su. he was left alone sitting in the car as the motorcade departed without him. abc news reporter david has the latest from washington. >> reporter: the scapegoat this week, outgoing chief of staff reince priebus who left the white house last night. priebus told fox news he wouldn't comment on those scathing attacks from communications director anthony scaramucci. >> i'm not going to get into that subject. it's getting into mud and i think the palace intrigue stuff is annoying and i think it's a distraction. it takes away from the president's agenda. i think what everyone needs to do is just focus on the president. focus on the things that he wants to get done for the american people.

>> reporter: the announcement expected all week cae apruptly y in a presidential tweet friday. priebus said he resigned thursday. >> hitting a reset button is a good thing and the president did that. i think he's happy. i've got to tell you although it's always a little mix when things happened, i generally feel pretty good. >> reporter: priebus's replacement starts monday. a retired four-star general from the marine corp who in his current role as secretary of homeland security was a steadfast supporter of the president's plan to strengthen america's borders. >> the president as we all know has issued three executive orders related to our homeland security mission. these will secure our borders and enhance the enforcement of our immigration laws and keep our citizens safe. >> general kelly has been a star. done an incredible job thus far. respected by everybody. >> reporter: general john kelly is well liked in the west wing

with a proven record at command. his new unit badly in need of some discipline. but kelly has no prior political experience, which could make it tough when it comes to issues like health care. the white house is still reeling over the senate's failure to base an obamacare repeal, a signature campaign promise defeated with a thumbs down senator john mccain. a crushing blow to the gop leadership. david wright, abc news, washington. >> survivor fans will like this. and cost sharing subsidies. and happening today, people across the nation will rally in support of medicare, medicaid and women health. the bay area rallies in san jose and santa rosa. san jose will meet at the corner of winchester and stevens creek the rally in santa rosa will be in a parking lot at 2300 county center drive. one will be held later and that event starts at 1:00. a judge has reduced the bail for one of the two men charged in the deadly ghost ship fire in oakland. lawyers for max harris asked the judge to release him from jail pending trial but that request was denied. they also asked for a reduction in bail and the judge did agree t that dropping his bail from more than $1 million to $750,000. both harris and the operator face 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. a 2-year-old boy who police

say was severely abused has died. at children's hospital in oakland yesterday. police in stockton arrested the child's stepmother on tuesday. the infant flown from stockton to the east bay hospital after suffering from a severe head injury. he had been on life support. maynard is now facing three counts of child abuse and is due in court on monday. palo alto is looking for a person of interest for four suspicious fires in the downtown area. this is a surveillance area with a man seen walking near a dumpster. that went up into flames around 4:30 yesterday morning. there was also a car that was set on fire in the parking lot. a fire inside a parking garage on high street and a brush fire near the bike path. the man was wearing a beanie, light colored long sleeve shirt, dark pants and was carrying a backpack. if you know who he is, call palo alto police. the moment tesla fans have been waiting for has arrived.

the more affordable version has just rolled off the assembly line. here's a look inside the car. last night tesla passed out keys to the first 30 owners. all of them are tesla employees. abc 7 news reporter reports that employees will be looking for kinks in the new model three. >> we have the first 30 production cars here being charged right now right there. >> reporter: tesla ceo elon musk has sent the first model three owners out into the world. one gala attendee shared these photos with us. the model three can make it about 220 miles on one charge and it has the lowest price tag of all the tesla. owners of the s kp and x models welcome it to the family. >> model three serves its purpose for getting people involved with e.v.s who may not otherwise be able to. >> embracing that kind of technology in mass production can only be good for us as a country.

said tesla options like auto pilot are impressive at the low price point, but it might not be enough. >> it's one thing to have a great car. it's another thing to be able to manufacture them, deliver them and make a profit from them. >> reporter: musk said he expects to turn out 20,000 cars by the end of the year and 500,000 by the end of next year. gupta ordered one. he has high expectations and hopes tesla can deliver. >> when i bought my model x, i was not really satisfied. because i had so many problems with the car initially. >> reporter: about half a million people have put down $1,000 deposit on model three. in fremont, katie, abc 7 news. >> here's a guide to tell all of the models apart. model three starts at $35,000. this starts at $69,000. model x will set you back at least $82,500.

that new model is sounding like a pretty good deal. new this morning, sonoma lifeguardi lives are keeping a close eye on the west coast beach. yesterday lifeguards found five kids playing in the powerful surf. the waves knocked the children off their feet. goat rock only has patrols watching 30 miles of coastlines, so lifeguards say a new tower will make it easier to respond to emergency situations. lisa, i'm sure given the surf conditions we've had and the warm weather, you're glad to hear about possibly more safety. >> absolutely. tomorrow night we have a beach hazard statement going into effect with strong rip currents. always very, very dangerous up there. today we'll have a lot of sunshine in sonoma. look at all that fog. hasn't reached concord and livermore. sunshine and low to mid 60s, but

a warning from the health department, a bat found near the children's splash pad in clayton tested positive for rabies. health officials say rabies is almost always deadly in humans. abc 7 news reporter katie has more from grove park in clayton. >> reporter: children splash care free in clayton's grove park, but a warning from the health department has parents on edge. a sick bat seen in these pictures was found on a pathway in the park last week. it tested positive for rabies. >> it was positive for rabies. i mean, that's terrifying. >> reporter: katherine served as a communicable diseases program chief in the army. >> one of our biggest concerns on deployment, was, in fact rabies. >> reporter: it's a concern for the health department too. >> rabies is nearly 100% fatal in human beings.

once symptoms appear, the person is like lie going to die. >> a man died in 2012 after exposure to a bat. >> by the time he developed symptoms it was too late to save him. >> reporter: the county reports three rabid animals has been found this year, all year. >> the biggest indicator an animal has rabies is they're a nocturnal animal and out during the day. >> i wouldn't touch it. bats, you've got to get tested for rabies. >> reporter: the wildlife hospital treated the sick bat but it died. they say only 1% of bats are rabid. most are helpful mosquito eating creatures. if you encounter a trapped or sick bat, call animal services. in clayton, abc 7 news. merck says a cyber attack last month halted production of its drugs.

merck says it doesn't know the full magnitude of the impact because operations are still being restored. merck says it's confident they'll be able to maintain a continuous supply of all its top selling and life saving drugs. a group of drama students at oakland skyline hospital will head to scotland today despite needing to raise money to cover the costs. they will perform at the american high school theater festival. they have raised $42,000, but they still need $24,000. the drama teacher and principal entered into an agreement that gives them until september 15th to pay the rest interest free. >> i go to bed thinking about this and i wake up thinking about this. >> i'm not worried. students from skyline, we work really, really hard. >> reporter: after the deadline the money is subject to 5% interest. they plan to auction off tickets to a warriors game. that they hope will defray a large chunk of that debt. this weekend is the annual

happening now, several roads closed for the iron man triathlon. 2,400 competitors racing through the city. they sim in lake sonoma, then two lapse around souther santa rosa, then a full marathon around the santa rosa creek trail. the last competitors are not expected to finish that race until around midnight. wow. >> now your accue weather forecast with lisa. >> check out our fog footprint. up towards the san pablo bay all the way down the coast. with that in place it's going to be a comfortable day today all over the bay area. look at sfo. 35 minute delays. a little sunshine trying to come out. the peninsula will be very comfortable today and it really has been. 55 in san francisco. in the low 60s. mountain view and san jose. gilroy mid 50s now going up to

90 later on for the garlic festival. 56 degrees. maybe a few peeks of sunshine. from our east bay hills camera we are looking at not only the lou clouds and fog, but that breeze will allow for fec temperatures to be comfortable. even though you're mild in the 60s right now it should be a nice looking afternoon. 57 in no vat to. 59 for you. 57 in napa. that was tam. this is our east bay hills. typical mid summer pattern today. turning nightly warmer for sunday. we have one more day of july and it looks like the heat is going to build inland. we'll still have the ride range of temperatures so it will still be comfortable up the coast. let's take a look at the hour by hour forecast. you'll notice that the fog is still up in the north bay along the peninsula. san mateo coast.

by the afternoon about 2:00 it tries to pull away for a little bit. it will in santa cruz, but around stinson -- high temperatures with a little bit of sun and clouds will be in the mid 60s from half moon bay, ocean beach. warmer here. we have more sun in santa cruz. 56 water temperature. in gilroy, tomorrow is the warmer day. lots of sunshine. look at the rain. waking up to the 50s. afternoon highs pretty toasty in the 90s. in the south bay it looks pleasant. 83 in sunniville. san jose. look at all the mid 70s. mount view 76. you'll get some sun in the city. up in the port bay plenty of mid and just upper 80s. near east bay look at the upper 60s for berkeley. kind of a refreshing day by the water.

56 santa rosa. 57 napa. sunshine in concord at 65 degrees. 10:00 you'll be in the mid 60s in san ramon. by noontime we've got 80 out by the delta. cool and comfortable at the coast but limited sun. by 4:00 we're talking about some low 90s this is video from a live fire exercise in south korea. just hours after north korea launched a intercontinental ballistic missile. the u.s. and south korea then countered the north korean launch with their own. this one showing the rockets precision firing capabilities. experts are saying the north korean missile test went higher and further than any other test before. kim jong-un now claims they're able to hit the entire u.s. at any time. here's abc news reporter gloria

clara cal train station to a stadium. mercury knows says this tunnel makes it easy and safe for pedestrians to cross those train tracks. cal tran is offering free rides from san francisco to santa clara to celebrate. you've just got to show joyour game tickets or wear your gear when you're boarding. several attractions at disneyland are back and reopened today. they were closed more than a year ago in preparation for a construction of the park's new "star wars" themed land. mark twain river boat is back as well as the disneyland railroad. the railroad got a bit of an upgrade with new views along he rivers of america. >> it has a direct connection to walt and now with the new section it makes it better. walt never wanted disney lantd to sit still. he always wanted it to keep being improved. >> the railroad and other rides were temporarily closed while

you have some sunshine, though. but elsewhere around the bay it's pretty cool. we're in the 50s. 55 in san francisco. low 60s for you in mount view and san jose. the fog just cleared on the pe nins l. -- peninsula. part of it chill ne napa with 60 in fairfield. you'll notice the flag there allowing for low clouds and fog to make not it too far away from the shoreline. that breeze keeping you cool there. if you're headed to the beaches, know that you're not going to see a whole lot of sun. look at the fog all the way up towards san pablo bay. it is going to pull back. we'll reveal another sunny afternoon. but some hearty folks down in santa cruz already with gray sky. we'll be in the low 70s with some sun. 55 in the city. we went over these numbers and a couple more live shots for you. you'll notice we are looking at the gray skies at the shoreline and with that temperatures are going to be just in the 60s
