good sunday morning. it is all 30th. i'm kate larsen in for carolyn tyler. we're going to start with a look at the weather with lisa argen. a look at forecast. a little warmer today? >> yeah, a little warmer today. we have this dome of high pressure pushing on the atmosphere. that's creating dense fog in spots. let's take a look at the visibility in spots. it's reduced in santa rosa. 2.5 miles at the coast. good push of fog this morning across the bay. keeping us cool. 57 in concord and oakland. wouldn't be surprised if you see that in the inland east bay. calls for temperatures in the

70s and 80s. plenty of sunshine today. the clouds pull away from the coast temporarily. inland, we're coming up another 5 to 8 degrees today. look at the mid-90s for highs. this is the beginning of a warm period and we'll talk about august in a few moments. kate? >> thanks, lisa. a 68-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly dealing drugs out of his senior citizens home. the drugs are about as hard as you can get. abc 7 news rorter leslie brinkley spoke with someone who saw it happen for two years. >> the dealer? a 68-year-old man who lived in this housing complex in the piedmont area of oakland. the customers? young women in their teens and 20s. this woman saw it unfold night after night from a window on the circle drive. >> hand over small packets of drugs to people get money. car drives away and then 15, 20

minutes later another car comes through. so continual traffic coming through here buying drugs from him. >> like drive-through drugs. >> drive-through drugs. this senior complained to building management. >> we went by the berkeley office and po one answered the phone. we were told they couldn't do anything about it. to talk to the police. >> residents lerted police and according to the east bay times, authorities arrested the 68-year-old man in late june and found what appeared to be cocaine, black tar heroin and marijuana inside his car and inside his senior apartment. the paper reports court records show he's a 14-time felon and pleaded not guilty. >> i was appalled that this could happen where i live and to see this man doing this under our nose and think that he could get away with this. >> sheas claims t only one

disabled parking spot in front of their building and that man, this dealer parked their every day within the end a falsified placard. residents are relieved he was arrested and now has moved out. in the newsroom, i'm leslie brinkley. abc 7 news. a bicyclist is dead after being hit by a vta light rail train in san jose. the accident happened at 4:30 yesterday afternoon near the light rail station along the winchester line. train services stopped for several hours after the accident. sheriffs deputies are investigating. milpitas police are investigating the death of a man as a homicide. the man's body was found in the parking lot of a business early yesterday morning on windsor street. police haven't revealed how the resident died but say it's suspicious. residents are asked to contact officers with any information they have about the man's death. a man is in the hospital after being shot in the neck

during a robbery at the berkeley marina. the victim nearly drove into the bay after the incident which happened near the municipal pier at 3:30 yesterday morning. police arrested a person of interest on unrelated charges. the car was towed away where the kite festival is happening. resed for several hours. we're learning new details about the nation's first large-scale public housing transformation project. hope sf is on track to -- this is the first phase of the project according to the sf examiner. hope sf will renovate a total of 2500 units into sustainable and energy efficient homes without displacing the residents who live there. they're in hunters view, sunnydale and others. at all sites, they should be complete by 2027. for rent and to own will also be built three years after the public housing project is complete.

now to developing news overseas. australian police confirmed that stopped an islamic conspired plot to bring down airplanes. authorities carried out major raids across sydney. abc news reporter brad milky reports. >> they woke up to police conducting raids in five locations around sydney. >> there has been a major counterterrorism plot. >> planning to commit a terrorism plot using a device. >> four man have been arrested a tv station reported that 40 riot officers stormed a house before an explosives team found a suspicious device. >> people out back and people screaming and yelling at each other. guys with masks on. >> officials did not release specifics on the time and location of the alleged plot but -- >> we believe it's

>> pelosi thinks sthat democrats and republicans who voted against the billow owe more on the gop's failure to repeal obamacare is coming up on "this week" with george stephanopoulos. you'll hear from tom price and john podesta. this week begins at 8:00 this morning right here on abc. a group of drama students from oakland are on the way to perform in scotland despite a pretty big financial obstacle. the school district shared these dephotos of the students very excited at the airport and on board their flight. skyline high school students have raised $42,000 to perform at the festival this edinburgh but still need $24,000. the school did reach an agreement to give them until september 15th to pay the rest interest-free. they plan to auction off tickets to a warriors game that they

hoarse a live look on this last day of july. an emotional reunion in san jose. a professional soccer player who nearly drowned met the man who saved his life during a special ceremony yesterday. we were at the stadium for the story. >> reporter: i rile really have no words. >> this is the first time he's meeting the men who saved him face to face. before there were words, there were hugs. >> true believer. god gave me second chance. i don't remember. but you guys were there. >> on july 4th. silva was at lake tahoe and went for an early morning swim alone.

suddenly, he was struggling. the cold water overtook him. these two were paddle boarding nearby. >> i ripped off my sweatshirt and dove in because he wasn't coming back up. luckily, i got underneath him, pushed off the bottom of the sand and pushed him up. colby was waiting. >> kwoel by got silva on to his board and pushed him to the shore where retired e.r. nurse john burke happened to be on the beach. >> as soon as they hit the sand, i flipped him over, checked pulse, respirations, nothing, flat line. so i started cpr. went for five, eight, minutes. silva stayed in a coma for two days after he started breathing. >> the earthquakes honored the heroes with a ceremonial pregame first goal. >> silva is known on the field with the earthquakes this season. he's currently on loan with an affiliate with reno. the team was planning a barbecue

that day. he's returning to reno to continue his rehab. >> i'm really happy that he is alive and that we were able to help. >> in san jose, lisa a mean ga leash i can't, abc 7 news. a state-of-the-art fire station is open for business to serve residents of central alameda county. abc 7 news was in cherry land where local leelders and firefighters came to sell it brat grand opening of station number 23. the 11,000 square foot facility replaces an older firehouse built in the 1940s. >> quarters were cramped, it was small and challenging for the firefighters to be there. >> they stuck it out and served valiantly in that station. the new firehouse should also improve response times for the cherryland community. a cancer survivor finished a 1200-mile bike yard to san francisco.

bob, the guy in the orange jacket tooted his horn as he and his support group finished the ride near chris i field. he's a leukemia survivor which he beat thanks to a bone marrow transplant. beside advocating for more donors, he rides to give hope. >> also to create awareness for patients that are going through the process right now that you can get through this and you can have a full, active, healthy life afterwards. >> bob is also riding as part of life blood. an organization that raises funds for bone marrow research. one of the greatest voices to ever call a baseball, basketball or football game is now in cooperstown. the bay area's bill king has been inducted into the baseball hall of fame. >> now the pitch. swung on, there's a high drive. it's way back, in center field, that one is gone and it's a victory for the oakland

the coast. because today we're getting more clearing out there. your hour-by-hour forecast, here we are at 11:00. gray at the coast. by noontime, it pulls away. partial clearing here around point reyes. if you want to head to the beach, it will be comfortable and cool today. the rough surf, low to mid-60s out there. santa cruz at 67 degrees. gilroy, beautiful afternoon starting out in the mid-60s. low 70s. afternoon highs, mid-80s out there. should be pretty nice. in terms of the rest of the bay area. in the south bay, 85 today in san jose. look for 83 up by milpitas. 89 in los gatos. some low 80s as you get closer to mountain view and los altos. san francisco warmer today. you'll see more sunshine at 69. in the north bay, getting a few oranges here. napa to calistoga. near east bay, a beautiful day

partnership announced involving lyft. the san francisco company is facing social media backlash frr lyft drivers who do not like the new taco mode feature. it allows riders to direct their drivers to go to a taco bell to pick up food during one of their lyft rides. it's being tested in orange county. some drivers are calling it the worst feature ever saying they will lose money sitting in the drive-through lines. participating in the program is optional says lyft. a popular hiking trail in san francisco turned into an outdoor concert hall. abc 7 news was near point lobos yesterday just about the suit row bath as an estimated 2,000 people listened to 99 percussionists performing outdoors.

good morning. it's just about 5:30 on this sunday. we'll start with a look at weather with meteorologist lisa argen. >> kate, good morning to you. last day of july and we're looking at big changes out there. tomorrow is the last day of july. we're getting close. here's a look at temperatures. 54 in novato. 58 in hayward. typically cool out there. we're looking at the fog pushing into the east bay. 2.5-mile visibility on the coast. you can see santa rosa and petaluma. from a half mile to a mile. be careful out there. here's the fog footprint this morning that stays with us across the bay through 9:00,

10:00. by noontime, look at that. pulling back from the san mateo coast. the marin coast as well. we'll look for temperatures at 7:00 in the 60s in our east bay. by noon, we're about 80 degrees in livermore. that's warmer than we were yesterday and as we take it to 4:00 in the afternoon, we've got mid-90s by the delta. almost 80 degrees by fremont and sunshine with mid-60s in the city. we'll talk about the heat coming into play for the first week of august in just a few minutes. kate? developing news out of germany this morning, there was a shooting at a nightclub. two people were killed, including the gunman and four others were wounded. this happened in constance in the southwest part of the country. the gunman opened fire inside the club this morning. he was shot and killed by police. an officer injured in the shooting is recovering. investigators say the motive is still unclear. now to north korea, the latest ballistic missile launch. it traveled higher, farther and longer than earlier attempts.

the missile carries a dangerous message for the u.s. abc's gloria rivera has more. >> reporter: blast-off in the dead of night. these new images show north korea's latest and most alarmingly successful missile launch. >> we think that the missiles could reach the center of the united states, los angeles, chicago, maybe each as far as new york and washington. >> north korea claims it can now make a surprise launch at any time in anyplace. proving the whole u.s. mainland is in the firing range. this latest missile shot 2300 miles into space, landing in the sea of jachpan. but north korea can angle it. >> whether north korea can successfully arm it with a nuclear missile. >> revised u.s. defense intelligence estimates say that the north koreans could have a nuclear missile capable warhead

needed because so many people are being hit. police have to see someone using the device before making an arrest. new video is giving us a different vantage point of the fiery plane crash on the 405 freeway near john wayne airport. this small plane burst into a fireball after crashing on the busy freeway. another view taken from the airport shows a black plume of smoke that rises from that crash site. the pilot of this survived the crash after being pulled from the wreckage by an off-duty fire captain. the plane suddenly lost power in its right engine moments after take-off. an air national guard tanker accidently dropped a load of fire retardant on cars in fresno. cal fire confirmed the drop but not why. it was 5:30 yesterday afternoon when retard rained down on cars in the shopping center. the tanker was headed to a wildfire but someone hit the

wrong button. a similar accident happened in windsor on thursday. a cal fire tanker accidentally painted a neighborhood pink with all of that. a team of volunteers in oakland distributed a truckload of necessities to the homeless. abc 7 news was there watching the volunteers in action. they watt delivered, water, soap. the work is important to them because they know the unexpected turns life can take. >> at any given time, we want to see for ourselves, we want to see for them as well. we got together to make sure they have what they need. maybe not for a week but what they need for right now. >> over the past three weeks, the christopher jones foundation collected shampoo, lotion, troot brushes and toothpaste so they could distribute it to the homeless. still ahead on abc 7 mornings, a big box store could make way for
