that's where abc7 reporter e ellisa harrington has the news. >> reporter: that train was parked here in pleasant hill. that purple cable was charging the train all night. now that's all that's left. you have to wonder if the person who stole the trailer did it without knowing what was inside or if they targeted that train. now, here are some pictures and videos that show the electric train that people can ride. it's been used at events all over the bay area, including carnivals, school events and art and wine festivals. it was rented out for the bayview hunter's festival today. when the owners came to pick it up, it was gone. police are stumped. there are no witnessed and no leads. they haven't been able to track down any security video. the family started their interactive company 26 years ago. they say this is a huge blow to their business and communities and families that enjoyed the train. >> why would you take a train

that brings pleasure to thousands of kids? what's in it for you? you can't really sell it? it kind of sticks out if you drive it anywhere. it only goes 10 miles an hour. >> i've never seen a train of this value taken. even trailers taken. it's a little unusual. >> reporter: the show still did go on at the bayview hunter's point carnival. one of the vendors donated a smaller train that only fits half the people. visitors still enjoyed the ride. they were shocked to learn the other one was stolen and said, shame on you, to whoever is responsible. meanwhile, the family has been posting pictures and information on social media. they're trying to get the word out to get that train back where it belongs. reporting live in pleasant hill, elissa harrington, abc7. >> thank you very much. california senator dianne feinstein says the president faces major opposition to firing

attorney general jeff sessions and special counsel robert mueller. she was responding to the suggestion that mr. trump might move the attorney general to head up the department of homeland security on cbs's "face the nation." if he does, the way would be clear for the president to replace the attorney general, unlike mr. sessions, a new attorney general could fire robert mueller who is spearheading the u.s./russia investigation. >> you think there has been sufficient opposition for the president not to do so, unless, of course, what you really intends is to end up firing mueller, which could well be the beginning of theend of his presidency. >> the senator also addressed north korea's development of intercontinental ballistic missiles. she says it's a clear and present danger to the u.s. and points out the danger of isolating a country. east bay man says his livelihood as cartoon animator

is in serious trouble after the brazen theft of hi laptop computer last night. its the type of crime that could and has happened before. we're live at the starbucks at atlantic and webster in alameda. that's where it happened. >> reporter: eric, gene hamm says he won't be creating any new projects from this starbucks any time soon. his laptop ripped off. police don't believe starbucks is the target, but it is one of the few coffee houses in town that's open late. >> sorry i'm late. i'm so happy you'll be talking about aviation. >> reporter: this is an educational dvd for kids created by animator gene hamm. >> never been that scared in my life. >> reporter: hamm was working on his laptop computer inside this starbucks saturday night, creating a new project when he became the victim of a brazen robbery. hamm says four young men wearing hoodies stormed inside the starbucks. one headed right for him. >> suddenly he grabs my laptop

right out of my hand, knocks the drink over and out the door with it. >> reporter: another customer had her lap stop stolen, too, during the strong-arm robbery and tried chasing down the suspects but they got away through the parking lot. on july 18th two customers had their laptops stolen in this starbucks on park street in alameda by suspects who police say ran in and ran out. >> in both incidents the suspects were late teen to early 20s, ranging between two and four suspects. >> reporter: police say laptop thefts can happen anywhere, but can't say for sure if these crimes are related. >> be vij will ngilant. stay alert and aware of your surroundings. >> i often have a friend with me so keep an eye on it or otherwise i'll put it in my bag. >> looks like they need security at the door. >> reporter: for now gene hamm says his animation career is on hold. >> i have to start over, get new software, get new computer, and i think starbucks owe mess that.

>> reporter: starbucks tells abc7 it's working with local authorities on the investigation. the safety of customers and employees remains a top priority. in alameda, cornel bernard, abc7 news. police in oakland are looking for an armed suspect who raped a woman last night. it happened around 9:30 on tenth avenue near east eighth street. the woman went to the hospital. the suspect was armed with a gun and a knife. a wildfire that started yesterday east of stockton is 60% contained tonight. this is a picture from cal fire of the jacksonville fire. it's burned nearly 700 acres south of jamestown. mandatory evacuations were lifted today. we talked with nervous residents. >> about as close as it gets. >> reporter: brian walker didn't want front row seats to the jacksonville fire, butter he sure got them. >> we were watching the fire come over the hill and turned around, it's already jumped the fence. >> reporter: jumped the fence and burned within a dozen feet

of his barn, a few dozen shy of his home. it was surrounded on three sides. firefighters made a stand here and they won. >> they are the most amazing people on this earth. amazing. >> reporter: marcy has her evacuation plan ready. cal fire had some mandatory evacuations and put other area residents on notice from the beginning this was considered a fast-moving fire but it was moving in a different direction from marcy's home. >> my heart's calming down. >> reporter: the fire burned uphill, northeast. what starte it and where are still not certain but fire investigators are right now focusing on this spot along the west side of jacksonville road. north of twist road. it chewed through pasture land north and east until it ran into gianelli winery. with air support, firefighters managed to save the winery as well. >> those cans drop and see all these barns, they're all red.

a proposal to delay start tis california schools is getting a mixed response. a bill prohibiting middle schools and high schools from starting earlier than 8:30 a.m. is making its way through the legislature. they say it would give kids a better night's sleep and improve their performance. others worry it would create family chaos sir francis drake high has adopted it as part of a pilot program. there's a new list out today of the best and worst cities for renters in the u.s. and it's bad news if you live right here in oakland. wallet hub found oakland is the worst city for renters in the bay area. they looked at factors like cost of living, safety, median rent

alameda county community food bank is urgently calling for volunteers. they need 150 people every weekday to package enough food to meet the needs of the community. just 4 peop24 people have signe tomorrow and there are entire days in august when no one is registered to help out. summer is the time of greatest

comfortable temperature. 72 in napa. here's the call. overnight tonight we have the clouds. you saw them on the camera along the coast. they'll spill into the bay so patchy fog around our immediate bay communities. everyone will mainly fall into the 50s overnight tonight. future weather has us go hour by hour, here's the corner of your screen, 6:00 tomorrow morning, back to work, you see a fair amount of patchy fog around the bay early in the morning. it will have that traditional pull back to the coast. by midday, we're seeing those clouds right along the coastline. however, that marine influence going to be rather strong on the coast, so cool there. warmer numbers certainly inland by the lunchtime hour in the 70s and in the 80s. highs in our microclimate starting in the south bay. the san jose area. 88 degrees tomorrow. 87 for santa clara. about 85 for sunnyvale. it will be hotter in higher elevations. 81, redwood city.
